The new trails are looking good! Great video, thanks for the comprehensive review. 6:23 - I'll never understand these people who go on MTB trails without helmets...
Agreed. I’m heading over the chase tomorrow for the first time in at least 2 years with a colleague who wants to get into biking, point blank refused to go with him until he gets a lid. Dusted off my Tomac, lubed it up but haven’t properly ridden in a long long time… Should be interesting, wish me luck.
Brilliant video! I rode Perry's for the first time yesterday (First time on a bike in 20 years as well!!) was a great way for my friends to get me into the sport and I loved it! made it a lap and a half before my legs finally gave out and I had to call it a day but will 100% be going back to ride this trail again and when my confidence is a little better take on some of the easier Dog sections!
I mountain bike on Cannock chase way before the trails, or the cycle shop and the cafe was run by the forestry commission and car parking was a £30 yearly pass. The cycling was so much better, more remote and enjoyable The best thing about the current trails is it keeps most cyclists to specific areas, so those that really know Cannock chase can enjoy the really good areas with less cyclists and walkers.
You are right there. I spend most of my time on the un marked parts of the chase. So much better to be in the more remote parts than it is surrounded by people.
@@bikeandbeyond I believe this was the true reason to provide cycle trails. Not to provide an activity for cyclists but because cyclists were increasing and walkers and vocal NIMBYS were complaining. To keep cyclists to specific areas / routes on the case and away from everywhere else and it’s worked so well it’s also bringing in huge revenue too Just look at the development of the car park on birches valley I remember when the cafe was one hut and two old lady’s making tea with a tiny car park The trails were built to keep those complaining about cyclists happy but look what’s come out of it
Awesome video. My brother and I were riding the same trails on the Bank Holiday Friday morning. Enjoyed the ride. What happened to the rendering on this video? Artifacts everywhere. UA-cam compression?
Yeah the trail is great fun. Thanks for highlighting the rendering issue. Sometimes there are artefacts when the video is live on UA-cam but perhaps hasn’t fully processed in HD yet. It should be 1080p
The random stone slabs on the blue trail catch quite a few people out, i've seen quite a few accidents as a result of novice riders hitting them. As someone who rides a hardtail i'm no fan of them either.
Returning to MTB with a hardtail after many years. Would be grateful for your feedback on knee pads - I see you referenced a couple in the description, I've been looking at many. Horses for courses I know, but is something like the Fox Enduro D3O enough for a place like Cannock Chase? Is something like the 7idp Sam Hill a good all-rounder? Likewise, is something like an IXS Carve overkill? The slenderness of pads now with non-Newtonian materials is preventing me from knowing what to do! On the one hand, great that they're thinner, lighter etc. On the other, you can't plan how hard to fall, so to some degree you're either protected or you're not. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated
I find that something like my fox D3O or the Sam Hill are great. Perfect for somewhere like Cannock. If you go too big (like my 7IDP flex that I link in the description) you may find them a bit tough to peddle in for a full days ride. I have crashed in my Fox D3O before and they provided a great amount of protection. I only tend to use my big pads if I am at a downhill park or riding jumps.
@@bikeandbeyond really appreciate the quick response. A thumbs up and a subscribe just for that :) Hmmm... I'll have to take a look at the enduro D3O in that case. I'm sure it's partially an old mentality but I look at perhaps even the Fox Launch or the Endura MT500 hardshell over the Enduro D30 and I suppose they LOOK more like what I'm used to. But this is where I need to be realistic and honest with myself and perhaps have a look at the enduro D3O and just see if that really is enough for where I'm at right now. I'm sure it's probably better than the best pads I had 20 years ago. Guess it's the balance between not bogging myself down but also enjoying the confidence inspiring feeling of knowing you're covered.
im 14 and thinking abt doing these kind of things and im wondering what kind of mountin bike i get a normal one or a full suspension???? or any kind of bike thats good for this?
I've just bought a bog standard mountain bike, but unsure if it is solid enough for trails like these? Could I just rock up and see how I get on? Total bike noob, sorry!
I went yesterday and was disappointed with the distance. The blue route at Sherwood pines is 7.5 miles and they have added extra berms at the beginning. I appreciate that pines is a bit more XC than anything else but Cannock could be longer.

Yeah I am with you on that one. I was actually shocked at how many people weren’t wearing a helmet!. It was at least 1 in every 3 people.

The new blue trails are sick think I went round them about 10 times when they first opened.
Great video and view of the "easier" trails..... just what I need !
Been here on Wednesday and loved it with my mate

Nice work. Well done for getting back in the bike!
Nice work. Well done for getting back on the bike!
Riding there today! Cant wait
Awesome! It is definitely worth riding the first sections a couple of times.
greetings from the usa , nice job on the video , and the commentary was well done , keep the vids coming !
Thanks, glad you like the channel 👍🏻
Just done it today.. Good fun, given I'd never done a trail before it went well.....
Looks like a lot of fun that line with the jumps 👌
I seriously hurt my balls on those
Great video and the trails look amazing, hope to get down there in the next couple of weeks 👍
Great video. Really like the combination of POV and off bike footage. Need to give the new bits at Cannock a try. Looking forward to FOD tomorrow 👍
Cheers mate! Yeah FOD will be a blast!
Great content, you’ve gained a subscriber
Great video, hoping to go to Cannock sometime soon!
I love Chase its the best park
I’m going there at the weekend
Its mad how different it is now
Looks great , need to check it out next week if think
Yeah the new sections were a nice surprise actually. Let’s hope they start to maintain and improve the rest of the trails now
@@bikeandbeyond you should join the debate on my page , ive upset a few ebikers oops

Nice vid 👍
Best vid I've seen on them yet.
Thanks dude. I appreciate it!

There are signs before them saying "feature ahead", not sure if they were always there but they are there now.

How long is the blue trail? i'll be giving it a go soon
It’s about 4km long, so not a huge distance. Fun trail though.
im 14 and thinking abt doing these kind of things and im wondering what kind of mountin bike i get a normal one or a full suspension???? or any kind of bike thats good for this?
It will depend on your budget. Full suspension bikes are great and all but you can easily do these on a hardtail.
@@bikeandbeyond ight ill try im.out any good placee in gettinf parts?
0:24 I’m pretty sure they’re still deciding on the name👍
Yeah I think you are right (well, I hope so anyway 😂).
What pressures you running in these conditions?
In the dry and with rocks I run slightly harder than my usual 25f/28r maybe 3-5psi but everyone's different

Yeah you can certainly give it a go. No harm in trying.
Yep, my son gets round to Dog without issue on a 250 quid decathlon hardtail. Might not last that long though!

Cmon nearly 3k let’s do this
We are so close
I always feel so embarrassed riding my bike
Why😢
