    I was on the fence about buying the AX8 till I watched this video, but immediately afterwards I bought the AX8. Thanks Ola! I really appreciate you showing how to use the editor as well as the demos bro. Your videos have helped me to figure out what gear I truly wanted to invest in to get the tone I want.

    So Helpful, have had the Ax8 on my mind for some time. Was thinking about selling my 6505, but now I think I will kept it and run a similar setup. Hopefully I can get some cash for my pedals, and live off chef boyardee ravioli for 2 months. I have a focusrite as well, wonder if I can run the total output from the back speaker port of the amp.

    Hey Ola, love these vids and your effort put into them. After watching this video, just wondering if there was any particular reason you didn't include MIDI when designing the Satan? From purely a design/technical POV were there any pro/con factors influencing this decision? From your previous rig videos you mentioned how you love a clean/sleek setup, so I was kinda surprised to realise the absence of MIDI in the Satan and thus you having to had add RJM Gizmo/midi in your setup which kinda results in having to add (slightly) more to the rig. Just a thought. Keep up the great vids!

      ola put no effort of his own into the design or sound of the satan. It is just a rebadged fortin natas that randall put their name on when they hired mike fortin , and they put olas face on it to sell it.

    according to Fractal (not me) the Ax8 is not optimized for 4CM, the FX8 on the other hand has the best OpAmps for using it in 4CM. Have you noticed any pops or clicks when changing patches? or maybe this only a marketing strategy by Fractal

    Hey Ola, thanks for showing your live RIG. I am very interested in how you engage the pedal to add / control the twin leads / harmony. I assume you are using the pitch block in the fx loop and assign the volume modifier to the pedal, correct? How do you specify / program the scale in the correct key of each song?

    Would you recommend this to someone using a wet/dry rig? I'm trying to simplify my amount of gear I have to setup for gigs. Currently I run pedals in an RJM MEG in front of an attenuated 50 watt plexi into one cab, then a line-out from the attenuator into a rack with a rocktron xpression and a mosvalve500 which drives a second cab. Having something like that AX8 looks like it would make my life much easier!

    How are you switching channels from the AX8? How do you setup the MIDI portion in the AX8? I have an AX8 on the way and was thinking about using the MIDI to switch channels on my Blackstar Series One amp if possible. Can I do that?

  • @wmxx2000
    @wmxx2000 8 років тому

    1. Can the FX8 run this same way?
    2.It's really cool to have your harmony on an expression pedal, that way you can bounce between rhythm and lead parts without the rhythm parts being harmonized. It makes a lot of sense

    • @rickfeith6372
      @rickfeith6372 8 років тому

      Oh yeah...the FX8 was SPECIFICALLY designed for 4cm...same with Axe FX 2. The AX8 not so much, but because its such a transparent high quality piece it does it with ease. Fractal gear rocks.

  • @carlosrodriguez-rj1tj
    @carlosrodriguez-rj1tj 8 років тому

    Hello Ola, love your videos!Can this kind of set up work if, instead of an effects processor, you're using an actual pedalboard with pedals and a midi switcher/looper (ie. Voodoo Lab Pedal Switcher PX - 8)? Additionally, instead of an actual amp, you're using a Kemper Profiler? Thank you and sorry for the loaded question.

    • @TimurIskhodzhanov
      @TimurIskhodzhanov 8 років тому

      Sure you can, check out the set up of John Petrucci (although he does use Axe FX in the loop besides regular pedals). Funny thing is that if you calculate how much a Voodoo HEX/PX8 + Commander + pedals + board + power costs, you'll be pretty close to how much Axe FX8 alone costs (and much more than Line 6 HD500X), which raises a question whether you can just stick to a single effects processor.
      One thing that's a little tricky to do using pedal only is reassigning the "volume" pedal from Wah to Harmony level with a preset switch - you need both pedals to be MIDI-controlled basically.

    Hey Ola. I have a 6505+ and I followed your cable instructions. For some reason, my amp sounds SUPER thin when I turn the loop off to switch to my lead channel. When I plug my guitar directly to the front of the amp, it sounds normal. I just got my Ax8 so I’m super new to the wiring of it all. Help?

    Killer tones right there! Are you using the Hesu 2x12 live as well? And what speakers are in it, V30's or Hesu Demon?

    To get a good level on my Marshall jvm I have to set my outputlevels 1&2 to +4db on the AX8. Am I doing this right ?

    hi ola, when you program a patch to use with a external power amp. Do you use the modeled preamps or just stick with the whole amp model. i use a line 6 hd pro

    Hi ola. I tried to set up my rigs just like you explained on this video. I use VHT (fryette) pittbull ultra lead. when I connect everything, my amp and AX8. ground noise is so loud and I couldnt get rid of it. When Im playing with my handmade pedal board there is no noise what so ever. I watched this video many times but I dont think you are using Humbuster cables for send return section. did you get ground noise? if you did how did you make it so silent? if you have any tips could you give me some advice? thank you so much!!

      It really could be something simple as you amp and ax8 are not plugged into the same outlet, strip or conditioner. Also, did you make sure to turn off the amp and cab sim? If that is not it, get either new cables or breakdown and buy or mod the cables to humbusters
