👌Brilliant this makes sense... I was teached to do it on circles 🤭😂🤭. I have learn more in this channel that I had on a well known classical riding scholl 🤣🤣🤣😂🤭. If you want to improve your riding do a lot of search on internet 👌. I have spend money and time with teachers that despite their certification they were not very clever🤣🤣🤣🤭
Very helpful to watch, rather advanced lesson for me, but helped to understand for the future, thanks for sharing this , a joy to watch two friends together as well!
So if you’re on the left lead getting ready to change to the right lead, you prepare with shoulder fore right with the prerequisite that you have taught the horse to wait for your leg aid and not to change from the rein and the ensuing weight adjustment. By doing this you change the weight from the right shoulder to the left shoulder just before you ask for the change to the right lead and this adjusts the position to make the change possible based on the laws of biophysics. If you just bend the head and neck, you won’t have any affect on the shoulders and the horse can’t make the change with the weight remaining on the leading side. I ask this question because you’re going too fast for me in this lesson to reconcile my understanding with your explanation. Please respond if you have the time. Thank you!🙏🏾
Thank for showing with challenges not perfection am I to understand that you want a shoulder fore or in, in the direction of the lead you are on prior to asking for the change ?
Yes that is correct - so dressage is all about gymnastic ability and all about asking the horse to work as gymnasts. To get beautiful clean changes we need our horses to be flexible and fit. So riding a counter canter, in a slight shoulder fore with the new true bend is quite a complicated and gymnastically taxing exercise. What this does though is ensures that the horse isn't throwing his body around to get the change, that he is in a great place of optimal suppleness to get a clean change. This will get you higher marks and also a longer lasting horse because you are not putting the horse under pressure asking him to do things he can't.
You two together are magic. Great to hear/understand you don't hold with the leg. Thanks!
Our pleasure!
