Beans...but other legumes work as well...like peas, lentils soy beans, etc. Plus, you can use any grain...like wheat, oats, couscous, quinoa , buckwheat, kasha , etc. Any combination of grains and legumes is as good as beans and rice.
Love all your ideas!
Thank you and thanks for sharing !!
Beans. New subscriber. Love short videos that get to the point. I’ve been trying to cut costs. I need to learn to make rice and bean dishes. My parents never cooked rice, ever. If they made beans, it was navy or great northern bean soup and cornbread. Sometimes Lima bean soup, which I absolutely hate Lina beans. I make rice dishes and stir fry, and use beans in some soups but not just bean soup. I will make Mexican rice and refried beans but I need to learn some rice and bean dishes that taste good.
Thank you for being here and for sharing Cathy!
I also ate Lima beans growing up and definitely not a fan now lol! 😂
I like Mexican rice!
look up some beans and rice recipes here on UA-cam to see what you’d be interested in trying! Let me know what you end up trying and whether it was good or not ha!
Beans...but I prefer lentils! I'm retired and on a fixed income, so I have become very mindful of frugality by necessity. I make my own laundry soap using soap flakes, washing soda and Borax cleaning powers. It works great and costs about a fourth as much as liquid laundry detergent and doesn't gunk up my washer and dryer as I don't need to use fabric softener. I buy a huge bottle of concentrated Dawn maybe once or twice a year and use half water with it in smaller bottles for most all my household cleaning. I still buy Windex for glass cleaning etc because it works better than using vinegar. And vinegar isn't
all that cheap anymore! ❤$$$
Lentils are SO GOOD!
And this is an awesome way to save money Janet! Thank you for sharing and congratulations on retirement, wishing you continued health and happiness ❤️!
I just commented on your other video, so I’m sorry I sound repetitive but I love how you come off as a friend and not a financial advisor with super technical terms.
That's great cause I definitely am not an advisor lol! Thank you !
Great advice, very helpful and practical
Thank you !! Happy to know it was helpful!
New here . When we make a meal it’s usually enough for the next day . On occasion we just have to make a vegetable or a side . But we 😊cook a few days and pretty much no waste. Whereas before it was not common to eat left over . Sometime we could have enough for a lunch .
Welcome!! And Awesome tip!
