My very 1st. car was a 1986 Black Buick Regal V6 in mint condition.. I Loved that car! I swapped the V6 engine for a Ford 5.0 V8 and it turned out to be such an awesome thing.
@@Breezfullyspoken Indeed Bro., and truth be told I, really wanted GM's 350ci., but I guess the Mechanic who've done the job had a better idea. lol.. If it were a 2nd. chance, I'd do it that way again. Loved that classic Mustang sound too.
did you have any interior work done on it? I have a 78 lesabre and its in desperate need of carpet and seat covers. my lesabre had that some Pontiac 301 motor . but ive up graded it to a Pontiac 350 . I also resident in phx ( far west surprise az)
Not sure if you can answer this question. I have 1979 buick regal 3.8L v6 and for some reason If I try to speed up the car will cut off. I have to drive real slow I just can't move fast at all. Also the speed I am going is way off. It can feel like I am going 35 mph but the speedometer will read 65 mph. I know that is not because people drive by me lookin very annoyed.
It's hard to say what the cause of the stalling is. It could be a number of issues. This Regal exhibited something similar during rapid acceleration. If I pressed the accelerator pedal too fast, the car hesitated and would occasionally stall. If I remember correctly, it was a tune-up, new spark-plugs, new PCV valve and a full carburetor rebuild that took care of the issue. As far as the speedometer issue, I'm not certain. You might need a new speedometer cable some other component. Again, not sure on that one. Hope this helps.
This particular Regal had been restored by a mechanic so everything that needed to be addressed was taken care of and I didn't have many issues with it. The only thing that we did end up doing on this Buick was rebuilding the carburetor because prior to that it would occasionally stall and had a bit of a rough idle. I always pay my mechanic for an inspection prior to purchase and would definitely recommend that anyone do the same when dealing with a 30+ year old car. My mechanic is experienced with older cars and runs compression tests on engine among other things.
Thank You very much for your insight. I called the seller who told me the car hadn't moved in two years and needed a new fuel pump...So I gave up. But yours remains a sound advice regarding any future purchase Thanks again.
As far as the hood release thing goes.... my family has had several of these type cars over the years (A/G cars -Regal, Cutlass, Century) and our Caprice did the hood sticking thing at one point. Try WD40 Or light engine oil on the latch and cable it should work if all is in adjustment.
Your right my dad had those cars when new and old he had to oil up the hood hinges and he was a pro eliminating the window rattle and squeaks he thought me how to fix cars love the and G bodies all the interior dimensions are the same through 1987 88
@@DavidR-ub2dp I miss my '83 Regal 2dr coupe. Me and a friend pulled the 231 V6 and replaced it with a Buick 350 V8 4-barrell. Car was never the same again (in a good way)!
Yes, this vehicle was sold locally for $5500. I had picked it up 4 months earlier, had carburetor rebuilt, had several different gaskets replaced to take care of some small leaks, replaced some weatherstripping, and enjoyed driving it around for the 4 months that I had it.
Boy that's great, the "want" of these cars seem to be near zero ... "I have several, and many people haven't even passive interest in them". ** Thanks for answering the question ! :- )
This was my first car. I drove it in high school and college. It was a BEAST! Talk about nostalgia. Thanks for posting!
