For those that don't understand the recipe in Spanish, I'm going to translate it for you and write everything in English to help you! Watch the video for complete instructions and follow how he does it.
Ingredients for Flan Caramel1 Cup of Sugar
Ingredients for Flan CustardAluminum Tray5 whole eggs (use yolk and egg white)1 can of evaporated milk1 can of water (use the evaporated milk can to put the water)1 can of condensed sweet milk1 dash of salt (1/8 tsp)1/4 Tsp Vanilla extract (not imitation vanilla)
Baño Maria (Also known as a Maria Bath. It's usually a large tray filled halfway with water. Use a large aluminum Lasagna tray and fill it halfway with water. Place it inside the oven. You use it only in the oven and place the tray of Fan inside the large tray in the oven.
Directions Put 1 Cup of sugar in a small saucepan on low heat. Make sure to keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn. While the sugar is melting and turning into Caramel, crack 5 eggs into a large mixing bowl along with 1 can of evaporated milk, can of condensed milk, 1 can of water (use evaporated milk can) dash of salt 1/8 tsp approximately, 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract.Whisk together well until all is mixed completely. Make sure you mix everything because the condensed milk is very thick. You can use a hand mixer or a stand mixer if you have one.
Once the Sugar is all melted and has a nice Caramel color, empty your saucepan into the tray that you are going to use for the Flan. Make sure to cover the whole base of the tray especially all corners of the tray. ( Watch the video to see how Victor does it.)
Heat your oven to 350 degrees
After the Caramel is in your tray, pour your Flan custard mix over the Caramel and place it in the Baño de Maria for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Remove it from the over and you are done!!

@Esther Leach Thank you!!! I understand a lottle spanosh so I could follow along watching the 1 thing I couldn't figure out was the oven temperature and the size od the trays used...1 for water, 1 for the Flan. Yummy!!! OMG!!! 😋 I cant wait to make this!!! All I need is the sweetened condensed mild and the aluminum trays...could you use glass baking dishes in stead of the aluminum trays? I have lots of glass baking dishes and they're reusable so I prefer to use those and reduce my carbon footprint, instead of the throw away trays. They would be good for a gathering bit jist for at home I'd prefer glass. Thank you so very much for translating it for ME!!!😁😋😁

Thank you! I was just going to ask you to translate it into English. I'm an American my husband is Puerto Rican and I cook for him all the time. But I love watching your videos because you're one of the few people who keep it in English. A lot of the other people or telling you the recipes in Puerto Rican. I understand a lot of Spanish but when it comes to cooking and ingredients and measurements it gets a little more difficult. But I love watching you and I learned a few new recipes that I'm going to try on my husband. It's always nice to keep it fresh after 22 years. Thanks for doing what you do I love it

I understand just a little Spanish, thank goodness, because I love Flan!!! I think I can follow the recipe either way. Is 1 Vaso = to 1 cup? I really want to make THIS and after watching several times I believe I can make this!!! Ingredients in Spanish and English would be wonderful!!! I can follow along with what he's doing, so I think I can make this!!! It looks absolutely delicious!!! So do you melt 1 vaso of sugar (1 cup?) Slowly over low heat until it caramelizes, then pour the flan over the caramel sauce bake at °F over a tray of water..for 45-60 mins...so 2 questions...1 what size is the pan of flan, and what size is the pan of water you set the flan in to cook? 2 what temperature do you set the oven at? Those aee the only things Im not sure of!!! I've been binge watching your video's cuz I love all types ethnic foods and you make grear dishes!!! Thanks for sharing Im looking forward to making this SOON!!! I think I could eat the whole thing all by MYSELF LOL🤣😂🤣 THANKS AGAIN!!!😁
    Brightest Blessings💜

Wait just a dog-garn minute, how the hell am I going to trust a flan recipe from someone that serves it “upside down” ?
Meaning, the best part of the flan is having it served upside down so you can see and spoon into all that delicious caramelized sugar. Serving Flan upside down has come to be the normal way of serving it throughout Europe, The Caribbean, North and South America, so much so that it’s considered right side up.

It would be nice to give measurements in cups, tablespoons or teaspoons. In the US, right or wrong, those are the standard. Measuring in "VASOS" could be difficult because my vasos could be bigger or smaller than your vasos. Thanks for sharing the recipe, looks great and I can't wait making it for my wife!

I've never heard of putting water and salt into the ingredients I have been making flan the old fashion way for 45yrs and learned it from my parents in Puerto Rico and they don't use water nor salt into the ingredients and they used 4 eggs 2 with the yolk and 2 eggs without the egg yolk which is a better consistency and actually taste delicious instead of using 5 whole eggs I guess everyone makes it different

The true way of making Puerto Rican Cheese flan is the following
      1 cup of sugar
      4 eggs
      1 can of evaporated milk
      1 can condensed milk
One package of cream cheese 8oz.
      A teaspoon of vanilla extract
Half of a quarter of a teaspoon of salt
pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees
Cream cheese and eggs must be at room temperature my advice to you is if you're going to make it take out the cream cheese out of the refrigerator the night before or 3hrs before making it.
One cup of sugar put it in a small pot to medium-low temperature stir constantly till you get a caramel ombre color once it reaches that color be extremely careful cus the caramel is piping hot. Pour it in your baking pan where you're going to bake your flan in. Don't be surprised it will harden up as soon as you put it in your baking pan.
To make the custard my advice to you is the best item to stir all this stuff together is in your blender. In your blender add evaporated milk condensed milk all your eggs vanilla extract and cream cheese blended. Want to blended it well pour into your baking pan.
Don't be surprised once you pour it you'll hear crackling from the caramel it's all good.
You must get a larger baking dish or pan pour hot water in it and then put the flan pan in it. Hot water must be filled half way to your flan baking dish.
This is called a "Bon Marie" when you put one baking dish inside another baking dish with hot water. Make sure you cover your flan dish with aluminum foil when baking you don't want the water to seep in it.
Bake 45 minutes to an hour at 45 minutes take a fork or toothpick and inserted in the middle if it comes out clean it's done if it comes out wet and with some custard on your it's still need baking time. Remember your toothpick must come out clean dry that's the indication when it's done.
When done remove from the oven take pan out of the water now let it sit for about 20 minutes or so till it cools down once it cools down take a knife or a butter knife very so carefully separate your flan from the edge of your pan. After you do that give it a little wiggle
now get a plate where you're going to serve it place it on top of your baking pan now turn it upside down now it will drop to your plate and you would see all the caramel on your flan.
Congratulations you did it now enjoy🤩

Much as I love Puerto Rican food I hesitate to cook most of it because of the high fat and carbohydrate contents. I am a diabetic and would like to know alternatives, if any, to the sugar, carbohydrates and fat used in most of the featured recipes. This is not a complaint, I am just trying to enjoy the food without too much consequence to my blood sugar levels. I really enjoy your channel and your enthusiasm for whatever you do. Thanks.

Omg, he put the spoon he used for tasting tge flan back in the tray to scope the caramel. That's not hygienic. You're not supposed to do that.
