The Paul Robeson Award 2024: The Campfire Project

Actors’ Equity Association and Actors’ Equity Foundation presented the 2024 Paul Robeson Award to the Campfire Project.
The award-the only award jointly administered by the actors and stage managers union and the foundation supporting the professional theatrical community- was presented at the Actors’ Equity Foundation Awards ceremony on June 24 in New York City. Presented by DeBorah Sharpe-Taylor, chair of Equity’s Paul Robeson Award Committee, the award was accepted by Campfire Project co-founder and Equity member Jessica Hecht.
The Paul Robeson Award, given annually since Robeson received the first Citation in 1974, honors individuals who leverage theatre to go beyond the stage to enact their commitment to the freedom of expression and conscience. The presentation also included a short video voiced by Equity member Jerome Harmann-Hardeman.
