We stayed there overnight in 2022, it was horrendous. It was windy and the sea was rough. The sandbar was underwater all the time. I snorkelled on the North side too but there was nothing to see. I’ve never been so cold and miserable in the Philippines. I went there before on a dive boat and snorkelled a way off the South side. That was better and it didn’t cost any money. It’s always been controversial there since they rip off foreign tourists with inflated charges.

The island is called Kalanggaman because of its bird-like shape when viewed from above due to the long sandbar on both ends of the island. “Langgam” is a local word for bird.

What a beautiful island. My husband and I are traveling this July. What's the earliest boat that leaves from Malapascua to Kalanggaman? Also, does the 500 pesos includes the boat ride RT or one way? Is their any other fees besides that? Thank you

Yea, canigao is beautiful and the prices are much better than kalanggaman island. I was just there with the family over the weekend. I would recommend canigao over kalanggaman.. plus in canigao you don't get the foreigners there as much. I can say that about foreigners because I'm from America. I prefer the locals, you guys are way more friendly than most of us foreigners.. the only problem with canigao is they need to improve the restrooms there, they need to be more modern.
