Shwedagon Pagoda is one of the must-visit places in Yangon. Shwedagon isn't only a place to worship but also a great place to examine Myanmar's ten traditional arts and crafts. The Shwedagon Pagoda was built by King Okkalapa more than 2500 years ago. The two merchants named Tapussa and Bhallika presented the eight strands of hair from the head of Gautama Buddha to King Okkalapa. The King enshrined eight strands of hair relics along with some relics of the three preceding Buddhas. Those are the staff of Kakusandha Buddha, a water filter attributed to Konagamana Buddha, and a piece of the robe believed to have belonged to Kassapa Buddha.
