His church is still going strong In Memphis! He started preaching after his career slowed down! It’s really sad when fools have to lie or present misinformation to feel important!
How much more smooth can a artist sing than Al Green does? That's right. He can't be topped. Such a supreme talent. He was blessed. Which means we've been blessed to hear his jammed catalogue of gems.
It was him that you could count on to give you that lovin lift. You could trust that he wasn’t going to mix addiction ...drugs and alcohol in it or compare the high of love to those things he was just going to give you a true love song. So soulful. This performance live had so many colors to it. Sometimes there was a low growl to it. Thanx for your sincere reaction. There were som bad things going on at that time like today, but you really had some good r & b from al green
I was thinking about 60's music for you and here are some of the ones I thought of. If you decide to watch live make sure you get recording when they are younger. Also, are you just interested in older music? Ok here they are.... Have fun! The Drifters (Under the Boardwalk), Etta James (At Last), The Moody Blues (Nights in White Satin), Ben E. King (Stand By Me), Roy Orbison (Crying) Simon & Garfunkel (Bridge Over Troubled Water, Scarborough Square), Aretha Franklin (You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman), Ottis Redding (Sitting On the Dock of the Bay), Ray Charles (Georgia on My Mind), Roberta Flack (The First I Ever Saw Your Face)
I have two suggestions that I hope you might give a try.. First is Leon Ware - Rockin' You Eternally. The second is Howard Hewett - Crystal Clear. I do like a good ballad and these are two of the best.
You're right on the money, romanticism has been destroyed by a profane, secular culture that denies real human values and emotions. Al Green has such an incredible voice, nice to hear this song again. Please react to "With a Little Help From My Friends" by Joe Cocker, Mad Dogs and Englishmen live.
A nice video/song. Al Green was not connected to Motown, but many, many artists were and it must be time to touch upon that resource. In the 60's Motown was a huge label for black artists like The Supremes (Diana Ross), Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5 (Michael Jackson) and Stevie Wonder to mention a few. A real driving function at Motown was Smokey Robinson as a artist, songwriter and producer (etc). Here's an example of his work (Tears Of A Clown) ua-cam.com/video/ZaMX0Cs5Bc4/v-deo.html In those days, it was very usual for other members of the group to have their movements choreographed. Another one of the great Motown groups were the Temptations. Here's one of their hits showing the lyrics (Just My Imagination). ua-cam.com/video/rAGDT-7qW-0/v-deo.html If interested it's easy to find live performances if desired like this one also from the Temptations (My Girl). ua-cam.com/video/swSytFVMHuU/v-deo.html These song bring back many memories for me. My purpose in listing these songs is for your education, not a reaction...
@@dreamingmusic7771 - Only react to them if you desire that. I mainly added them for your education in case you hadn't yet encountered the Motown catalog. I slightly edited my above comment (to add additional information).

Lots of great ones back then. White, black, etc., Al is one of my personal favorites all time.
Reverend Al. 🎶🎶
This is a good song for sure .
The first song that I can recall being "our song" with a girlfriend was Never My Love by the Association.
Al Greens music is so sexy he felt guilty about it and switched to mostly gospel in the end.
He’s doing secular music for quite a while now
TY for the live version! Subd.
Check out Come and Get Your Love by Redbone.
Dig it*
Some of his contemporaries are Gladys Knight...Roberta Flack..Aretha Franklin
