If you EVER get the opportunity to see this group live, GO. I saw them last night not knowing what to expect and I was blown away. It's even more amazing seeing this all happen live. They performed this last night and it was absolutely stunning.
Back in the early 1960’s I had an album of the original Swingle Singers, from France. They were quite unique, and I listened to their record for hours.
Love Piazzola. Was introduced to him by a Brazilian parent when I was teaching. Snuck off one lunch time for a concert getting friends to cover my absence!
This might be the most entrancing music video I've ever seen. It's enticing and and hot in the way only an incredible masterpiece can be. This is what music videos should be. Not overblown, dressed up dolls singing someone else's lyrics to a canned beat.
To date this is still my favorite from “The Swingle Singers.” Not only was the performance of the song spectacular, but the video is extremely well done. It told a story that really complimented the music perfectly. The editing and camera work were spot on. Thank you.
Wow ... what a homage to one of the most intriguing, sensual pieces of all times. It gives me the chills, Libertango by Grace Jones is incredible as well!
Original y hermoso.
Wow!! What a breathtaking interpretation of Libertango! Musically inspired and visually dramatic to boot. Bravo to all concerned with creating this small-scale masterpiece!!
I had dreamed 50 years ago to create such an orchestra ... it was perfect ... extraordinary and natural.
This Piazzola composition is irresistible. One of my faves is by Grace Jones. Very atmospheric and dramatic punctuated by a lovely bandoneon in the background.
Sensacionales!! ❤️
LIBERTANGO Libertango is a composition by tango composer Astor Piazzolla, recorded and published in 1974 in Milan. The title is a portmanteau merging "Libertad" (Spanish for "liberty") and "tango", symbolizing Piazzolla's break from classical tango to tango nuevo. Performances Astor Piazzolla recorded and published Libertango in 1974 in Milan, symbolizing his break from classical tango to tango nuevo (see below for recording details). Cellist YoYo Ma played Libertango on his 1997 album Soul of the Tango: The Music of Astor Piazzolla. It was featured by guitarist Al Di Meola in his 2000 album The Grande Passion. In 2002 Libertango appeared on Australian/British classical crossover string quartet Bond second album "Shine". In 2017, it appeared on the collaborative live album by the Japanese jazz pianist Hiromi and the Colombian harpist Edmar Castaneda, recorded in Montreal. Derivatives Although Libertango was born as an instrumental piece, in 1990 Uruguayan poet Horacio Ferrer added lyrics in Spanish language based on the theme of freedom. According to the performance database at All Music Guide, the composition has appeared on over 500 separate releases. Grace Jones's song I've Seen That Face Before (Libertango) uses the same music, as does Jazz Mandolin Project's song "Jungle Tango", Guy Marchand's song "Moi je suis tango" and Kati Kovács's song Hívlak. In 1997 Irish folk musician Sharon Shannon recorded a cover of Grace Jones' I've Seen That Face Before (Libertango) for her third album, Each Little Thing. Featuring session vocals by Kirsty MacColl it also appeared in 2001 on The One and Only, a compilation album released after her death. Shannon re-released the recording as the title track of her 2005 compilation. Cuban-American singer/composer Luisa Maria Güell added lyrics in the theme of the "Libertango" title and recorded it for her 2007 album Una. A more recent version in Spanish of Libertango lyrics belongs to the Argentinian singer, lyricist and composer Lilí Gardés, who describes the loneliness of city life. This version was approved by Edizione Cursi/Pagani SRL, and it was part of the show Zombitango. SOURCE: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertango 😊
An interesting interpretation of the music Astoria Piazzolla, gives new light on his beautiful music, and of course the involvement of musicians gives a very good impression thanks for such films improve the comfort of moments like this I greet the Polish.
I first heard this group when I was in high school 60+ years ago. Thanks for the update. I’ve since had a career in jazz, classical, opera, ballet,Broadway but my first record was the swingle singers; what a journey!
Fifty years and the Swingles still do well, preserving their unique sound, timbre and arrangements. This is an amazing example of continuity, considering all the changes in lineup over the times.

The woman who sang in the black and white scenes with the suspended microphone has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard.
And sorry, but the starting was not of the libertango but something of a yemeniten theme as far as I guess.

Holy Christ! I still have such vivid (acoustic) memories of their albums from the 1960s!!!
Along with Double Six of Paris! Let's date ourselves😊
Swingle Singers took me back 60 years and I’ve only just woken up to what they have done between then and now. Just playing Libertango…
As an Argentine, I can't help my eyes filling with tears every time I listen Libertango, but this is something else. Excellent version!

Bellísimo...como argentina muy emocionada
It doesn't get better than this vocally in my estimation. All pure, unadulterated talent rolled into one great tango experience
Piazzolla is breathing there, through the wonderful musical notes of this subtle yet sharp human crying for liberty of the spirit..
MASTERPIECE from MAESTRO , from ARTISTS, from ARRANGER , from VIDEO MAKER !!!! Honestly it's true MASTERPIECE !!!!
They are the best. P E R I O D. I discovered them in the 60's and they still are the best. I love when they sing Bach and I'm sure Bach does too!!
