I’ve always hated glittery nails but I’m going to start painting glittery nails now! I so want my crows to love me like I love them 😍 mine actually might be ravens. I haven’t for sure identified them yet but they live on my land and they’re so beautiful.
An addition to the looking at them. I noticed that my adult crows who have known me for more than a year seem to not mind me looking at them from one meter away. The exception is while they are feeding. If I look at them during their favorite activity (taking as much food in their beak as somehow possible) then they often interrupt picking up the food, look at me and wait. The less brave, less familiar crows often fly towards my balcony and turn around in the last moment when they notice that I happen to be looking in the direction of their intended landing spot. The young crows do not even approach food on the lawn while I am looking at them from the balcony (with no possibility to get closer to them) if that food is close to the balcony. I guess crows feel especially vulnerable during picking up food. This does make sense as they are much less capable to watch their surroundings then.
These are great tips. I’m in the process of befriending a pair of crows now. I live on the edge of a small German village and a pair has nested for years in some trees near my house. One of them will fly down and land several feet away to wait for some treats. The other watches from the tree and flies down as soon as I turn my back on the food. They clearly treat other humans differently than me, so I take their trust very seriously. Nice content, thanks for posting.

This is a really good guide. I want to befriend a crow because I have noticed a crow who seems to follow me around my neighborhood when I drive around and stay near my house. He must live somewhere very near me. I have also seen him and another crow perched on the tree outside my house. They seem to be interested in me and like observing me. I am a very spiritual person and I believe the crows intuitively pick up on that. Like, they can feel that my soul is gentle and want to be near me because of that. This video has given me a lot of hope that I'll be able to befriend these crows who seem to already want to be friends. Thank You!
Thank you for explaining this. Ive been making friend with Edgar, Allan and Poe for a couple years now. This video explained many of the behaviours I've seen on my 3 feathery friends...
I actually got friendlier with one of the fledglings than the parents this (my first) season. Parents still flee my gaze and will mostly be at a distance in the surrounding trees while I am out. If I have forgotten to feed them (I'm quite erratic, especially now that the parents aren't direct-feeding their fledglings), one of the fledglings can come alone, land on the edge of the roof directly above my head, and do some small-talk. Naturally it pays off greatly when he or she does...
It was actually quite fun to see the fledglings this summer, carelessly walking around the feeding place, being fed and eating themselves, while the parents seemed to focus on trying to teach them to be extremely cautious when approaching the food. Totally understandable behavior, but it shows the fledglings seem to trust my place and my food more than the parents would like. Too bad the fledglings will probably have to find their own territory in another year or so.

Great video with great advice. My local crows and a pair recognize me now. I have been one with this animal for generations of their families and can trace lineage through sometimes 5 generations. I name most, know their territories, habits, burrow locations, new entrances, physical differences, etc. Bashful lived 8 seasons and produced litters in at least 4. Her tunneling was prodigious, having easily dug out 16 entrances with 100+ feet of tunnels. Thank you so much, Alex, for sharing your friends and the joy you experience with them.
Very nicely done presentation. Your sensibility combined with your sensitivity is inspiring. It's very 'life affirming' to know that there are others who feel compelled to establish relationships with wild animals and especially the much maligned crow. I've had a lifelong love affair with these amazing intelligent birds. One of the most incredible experiences of my life was witnessing a murder that darkened the twilight sky. We saw what appeared on the horizon a very dark cloud against the backdrop of a red sunset, moving towards us. We soon realized that it was a murder of crows that were eastbound from Vancouver, B.C. We pulled over to the side of the road and watched as this constellation of birds came in to land on a stand of trees that spans many country roads. I've never seen anything like it before or since. It looked like millions of birds. The sound of wings flapping was like the sound of the sea. The arrival went on for at least twenty minutes. We sat and wondered what event could be so significant that it would attract what appeared to be every crow in the Pacific Northwest! Forgive me for going 'off topic' and keep up the good work!
I am working on it. I have left some unsalted peanuts and other nuts (unsalted too) and I also have pumpkin and rice seeds. I hear the crows every day and try and get them to notice me.
When I did the day shift at work I would go outside sometimes. When I saw a crow I’d do a crow imitation & give him some food. I named him Igor. After awhile if I didn’t see him I’d yell his name or do the crow call. He’d usually show up. Once he saw I had food he’d do the dinner call (when crows are constantly making a noise it’s a call to arms call when they see a stray crow or a predator. One time I saw him on a stop sign. When I said “hey Igor!” he followed me from lamppost to lamppost for food. I had to duck in the daycare center for something (that was embarrassing). 1 time the University Police came to my apartment to let me know 1 was hurt (don’t know why they didn’t call). Got taken to rehab center
I appreciate this video very much, which is very informative. I learned a lot from watching it, especially since the crows and ravens have been feeding on my balcony a lot recently.
Thank you for taking the time to make this great video… everything you recommended is spot on. There is no feeling quite like earning the trust of a wild animal to be at peace in your presence.
Starting to befiend a crow family in The Park in Rotterdam NL, next to where I work. About 8 months now. Their young is the least shy (perhaps because he knows me the longest, relative to his age). Mom and dad trust me as well but are still afraid to grab a peanut from my fingers. There are several families in The Park, they each have their own territory. There are definite boundries between them. This family I know best also greets me in the morning when I walk to the office (and demand peanuts obviously - "Thou shalt not pass"). I should talk to them more, that's a good tip, I will do that.
I started feeding the crows in our yards nearly two years ago. Now they meet me in the morning for peanuts and follow me to the end of their home area. Then another group of crows pick up on me and come flying for peanuts. On my three to five mile walks I have about four different groups that come and ask for peanuts. Last year and this year babies come up and sit on fences just feed away as I walk past or land on the ground just feet away waiting for the the peanuts. lol. I have to carry a lot of peanuts be able to feed them all now and make sure everyone gets at least one peanut. It's really fun.
Great video! Thanks for your advice. We always find it amusing that seagulls will give way to crows! Our favourite visitor is a Spotted Woodpecker, who is very fond of fat balls and sunflower hearts.
Thank youuuu. This video is so gentle and lovely, and even despite my almost lifelong love for the corvids, I still had several awesome things to learn from you, :} I'm not sure what's actually been stopping me all this time to develop a stable relationship with these birds, most probably, it's the dramatic fear of losing them someday all of a sudden, and also that i may "fail" them because of my more... job-apartment-dwelling nature, especially in these long, dark, cold Siberian winters, during which they might have needed me the most. That I'd stop showing up for a week or two because of exhaustion, or temporary work challenges, or my not that severe chronic illnesses and they'd just get worried, seek me there, get hungry and sad. I wish I had a more private, more quiet place that i could visit without 20-30-min long walks to city parks, it's pretty noisy and crowdy where I live. I have to try to look for special individuals among these birds close to me. c: Thanks!
Beautiful video! I just started trying to connect with my local crows by putting out some walnuts and almonds. It took them a couple days to notice it but now I have a family of four that comes to snack. I'm trying to ease out there first thing in the morning to refill it in the hopes that they will get used to me and I can actually connect. Fingers crossed, thanks for the great video!
I had a magpir friend for a few months last year. I found him/her in the grass, as a chick, when mowing the lawn and couldn't find the nest, so I built a makeshift nest on my veranda (porch) and fed it every time I heard it screaming. If it wasn't in the nest screaming at the top of its tiny lungs for food, it was hopping around the porch and in the garden eating bugs or playing with the dogs. Eventually, it figured out how to fly and would follow me and my dogs around when we went on walks, gliding at knee height, I guess it felt like one of the dogs. I knew it was going to leave soon when it was capable of flying 19kms into town and locating my car at work. Sometimes, I wouldn't see it for days, and it would reapear at home looking for food or playing with the dogs, with a flock of magpies in tow. It eventually stopped visiting, but l left the nest outside in case he/she needed it again.
I have been feeding a family of crows and dozens of songbirds for over a decade. Your thoughts on gazing and owl eyes are so true. I feed the crows on a hill, away from the little bird feeders and then usually go into my house and watch from the kitchen window. Sometimes I can't even look directly at them from inside the house! They sense it immediately and fly off. I can't figure out if they can actually see me watching or just feel me watching! None of the other birds, which are much closer to the windows, ever exhibit that behavior. . 😊😊😊
Thank you for this information :) I will use it to correct mistakes I've made in my atempt to friend them . I have made mistakes in my aproach to them but I did get the food part right if not how to present the food . I will work on that :)
for 3 or 4 years local crows passionately hate my neighbor and we don't know why . the same crow will swoop in from behind and peck his head even make a mess of his trash bags but never touch other people 's bags. i can even tell when he's outside because all the crows gather on the power line and let him know they're not happy with him it's hilarious
Maybe yelled or chucked something at them. There's a homeless man who does this to the town crows here, I heard he was found passed out drunk and had them pecking his head
li like your style 🥰been feeding n rescuing the odd injured crow for the past ten years in my local park they a big part of my life my happiness thank you very much x
I've tried befriending a family of magpies (the eurasian ones). It's really hard. Getting a woodpigeon to eat out of my hand was easy, but corvids here are very cautious. In the end they liked hanging around my house, playing together, even sleeping on my lawnchairs, but they always kept their distance from me. When breeding season ended and the young went their own way they all became even more cautious. Now that it's cold it's also not really fun to sit still outside for long times with food for them too. Maybe I'll have more luck next year.
I was raised amongst the ravens’. My father used to chop down a tree, and bring the young home, us kids would have a pet for the summer. In the fall we would let it go. It would come back to visit us for a while. I didn’t have a bike, but I had a raven.
I haven’t been at my house since November 2022. It’s May 2024 I went into my backyard this morning and the crows arrived on the wires overhead as they always did when I would feed them breakfast. I was overwhelmed and amazed
Thank you for good advice! I am in the early process of befriending a rural crow in a farming landscape in Norway. I scared "him" the first time we had any contact, but not too much it seems. Today I saw him landing in my yard for the first time, checking the area. I think he already keeps track of my car to see if I´m home or not 🙂
I feed a local crow with much of what you've recommended. Thank you. I've also occasionally included raspberries in the summer and other berries. I like to feed all birds but I've noticed that all this feeding has also attracted rats. Problem.
I call all my crows Dandolo. I’ve had a lot of crows some as pets for rehabilitation and all the wild ones now I called them down. I only had one crow they could say his name so clearly but deep voice I’ll never forget that.
thank you krari for posting this i am trying to get crowes from north west florida to visit my back yard there alot blue jays an squirls i have been feeding still waiting to see a crow i hear an see them yet non yet visit the back yard .
1. Can I feed well boiled tender pig meat? this in breeding time, as many proteins and no additives. and 2. how about dried dog food, that is always!, all brands are with A, E and D added.. I do not want to overdose with Vit. A, that accumulates in the liver.. How many gramms a day of such dried dog food snack, Vit. and preservatives added!, needs a grown male crow a day to be fully fed, full? as, an US site claimed...that a 740 g male crow needs like up to 360 g a day of food.. that seems too much..what do you think? thanks for all advice in advance. Your videos are excellent, learned a lot by watching and your voice is soothing, no wonder the birds linger on.
Pig meat and dog food is fine. I do not know about the grams per day, I would just recommend to remember, you are not responsible for the full diet of the birds. You are just supporting them. A handful of food a day is enough.
I've got flocks of cockatoos (40 this morning), King Parrots, rainbow lorikeets, magpies, butcherbirds, kookaburras, all eating out of my hands. Most of them will land on me for a feed! Personally I just think it comes down to finding the right food that they go crazy for. They'll take more risks if they think the food is worth it. Funnily enough I can't seem to befriend a crow, as much as I'd like to. I'd say they have long memories and some people hate their ugly sound (understandable- its not the prettiest sounding creature God made) and have probably done things they won't forget.
Every time I go for a walk wirh my very old half blind dog, i feed the crows. They land very close to us and if I don't give them anything they walk behind us and pull on my dogs tail. Sometimes I forget their food and they fly over my head and kick me which is very scary.😂
4-30-24 It is 8:00 AM this morning I decided to get closer this year to a crow I named last year called duck. He has a notable clack that sounds like a duck this is how we call to each other. Duck, duck, crow is a north eastern American fish crow that lives around water and he knows his name and me. Your video was extremely important and inspiring. I will see if I can feed him this year and his mate who has a softer clacking.
oh i need help! i live in a different country and the crows here are different than the usual birds i research upon. i have noticed that some of them hang out in my yard but i don’t think they aren’t the same guys that hang out the time prior. i have bought myself some peanuts and tried to attract some. i placed the food out on our roof since i can access it. i’ve put shiny things such as a cd and some coins. but not one crow has come near… i am very sad because of this. i really want to befriend some crows but i don’t think they’re interested in me.
Thank you for sharing your insight and knowledge about befriending crows. Do you have any advice on how to get crows to move into your area? My husband works on a farm that is about 10 miles from where we live. We also live on a farm, but we don't "farm" so to speak. He says there are crows where he works, but only 10 miles away where we live I have never seen a crow. I would love to get them to come and start living around where we live. Can I also ask, how long did it take to befriend these crows? Your video shows you feeding them in the winter and the summer. Does this take months? years? I would just like to know a rough timeframe we would be looking at before the crows would be comfortable around us and take food from our hands.
I work security and do a lot of walking outside. I started carrying a ziplock bag of whole peanuts (roasted, unsalted), for the squirrels but rarely saw any. So I started tossing some to a crow when I saw him. It didn't take long at all for him to start snatching up the food. Soon he was following me around, landing on nearby rooftops or signposts, flying in front of me as I walked to make sure that I knew he was there. I'd toss him a peanut or two and keep walking. After a few weeks of this he brought another crow with him and I continued feeding the pair of them. In the spring I could hear their hatchlings calling for food in one of the nearby trees so I fed the parents a bit more to help them out. By the summer the hatchlings were half-grown and were venturing out with their parents for peanuts. Now the brood has left except for the runt, which has remained with his parents. I'm looking forward to helping raise another few crows next year.
I am fortunate to have a pair of crows and their young one visit me regularly. I am devoted to them. Sadly the young one has developed Bumble Foot and is limping. Naturally he is the last to eat and I make sure he always gets a peanut. I feel helpless. His mother grooms him which is a comfort. Do you know about this condition and if it can resolve itself? Your video is lovely. Thank you.
I had a small murder of four crows that would come to my front yard. But I think my dog barking at another dog scared them away...I hope they come back
Some dog and cat foods contain sugars and processed seed oils which are not good for Corvids. Raw pet food is a better alternative , and is no more expensive. It can be bought in blocks and frozen until needed.
I started now only as my pigion died to a crow😢.but I like to tame and see wild animals everyday I am working on it thx for the guide on how to tame a crow
Its not easy....they are very cautious about coming near me....its worst when they give a call to others.. it seems that they r not to keen to befriend me... eventhough i give them food...nice recommendations though
I put food out for the crows in my front yard and backyard and they aren’t eating it. Is it because they don’t trust me? I put out eggs and raw unsalted nuts
The Crow I had coming to me all summer has moved on now and I hope he returns over the winter. I miss him very much .
Oh I am sorry! I hope he comes back!

I learned a lot from watching it, especially
since the crows and ravens have been feeding on my balcony a lot recently.
Thank you for taking the time to make this great video… everything you recommended is spot on. There is no feeling quite like earning the trust of a wild animal to be at peace in your presence.
Thank you!
Watching with my crow friends.
❤😂🥰🤗😁
Great job.
Thank you so much for disse fantastiske video 🤗🥰
❤Thank you very much video!
Crow very inteligent and spiritual sense 🤗🥰
Very informative, thanks greetings from Maine
I just found your channel and I'm loving it!
Thank youuuu. This video is so gentle and lovely, and even despite my almost lifelong love for the corvids, I still had several awesome things to learn from you, :}
I'm not sure what's actually been stopping me all this time to develop a stable relationship with these birds, most probably, it's the dramatic fear of losing them someday all of a sudden, and also that i may "fail" them because of my more... job-apartment-dwelling nature, especially in these long, dark, cold Siberian winters, during which they might have needed me the most. I have to try to look for special individuals among these birds close to me. c: Thanks!
You produce all of your videos in the most beautifully artful way.
Thank you
Beautiful video!
Ein schönes Video zum Thema 🖤
So amazing! That is a wonderful story, thank you for sharing!!
Very nice video. Thank you.
Thank you very much. You gave me much needed information
So nice, thank you. I'm inspired.
None of the other birds, which are much closer to the windows, ever exhibit that behavior.
. 😊😊😊
Nothing escapes a crow's eye! It is fascinating and a little scary. My cats are not half as aware of their surroundings as the crows.
He must have done someone to one of them at one point. Or he looks like someone that did 😅😅
Maybe yelled or chucked something at them. There's a homeless man who does this to the town crows here, I heard he was found passed out drunk and had them pecking his head
li like your style 🥰been feeding n rescuing the odd injured crow for the past ten years in my local park they a big part of my life my happiness thank you very much x
So facinating. Thank you❤️🤗
I've tried befriending a family of magpies (the eurasian ones).
I agree with your advice. I have followed the same guidelines and have been able to get smaller birds to eat from my hands.
FABULOUS VIDEO. I am a great friend to many crows in my area.
I haven’t been at my house since November 2022. It’s May 2024 I went into my backyard this morning and the crows arrived on the wires overhead as they always did when I would feed them breakfast. I was overwhelmed and amazed
That is amazing, they never forget and are friends for life!
Thank you for good advice! I am in the early process of befriending a rural crow in a farming landscape in Norway. I scared "him" the first time we had any contact, but not too much it seems. Today I saw him landing in my yard for the first time, checking the area. I think he already keeps track of my car to see if I´m home or not 🙂
I have a crow buddy that has learned to unzip my backpack where he knows i keep the peanuts. 😂
Haha, that sounds about right :-)
I feed a local crow with much of what you've recommended.
Lovely video ❤ The natural world is far more interesting than our world !
1. Can I feed well boiled tender pig meat?
this in breeding time, as many proteins and no additives.
and
2. how about dried dog food,
that is always!, all brands are with A, E and D added..
I do not want to overdose with Vit. A, that accumulates in the liver..
How many gramms a day of such dried dog food snack,
Vit. and preservatives added!, needs a grown male crow a day to be fully fed, full? as, an US site claimed...that a 740 g male crow needs like up to 360 g a day of food.. that seems too much..what do you think?
thanks for all advice in advance.
Great video!
Outstanding, thank you for your work.
Thanks for posting 👍💙
so valuable advice thank you
I've got flocks of cockatoos (40 this morning), King Parrots, rainbow lorikeets, magpies, butcherbirds, kookaburras, all eating out of my hands.
You need patience, they will come.
there are beautifull.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Try mirrored sunglasses, they're pretty vain sometimes eh?
Thank you.
Does your crows brings you gifts ??i heard they even bring gifts sometimes?
No, only twigs in spring from building their nest.
I had a small murder of four crows that would come to my front yard. But I think my dog barking at another dog scared them away...I hope they come back
Can the same be done with magpies?
I am sure it can.
I have a pair of crows in my yard ❤
I have never seen a black and white crow. Where I’m from, the crows are all black.
Magpie Corbin, right?
Me neither, never noticed one. Have hung out with hundreds of American Crows.
Cool
Some dog and cat foods contain sugars and processed seed oils which are not good for Corvids. Raw pet food is a better alternative , and is no more expensive. It can be bought in blocks and frozen until needed.
Thank you for this info!
There's a crow that will now land on my 3rd floor window sill for a chat and a snack.
I'll try to get him to eat out of me hand by ignoring him
Fable.
I started now only as my pigion died to a crow😢.but I like to tame and see wild animals everyday I am working on it thx for the guide on how to tame a crow
~Id like to befriend crows, but they already eat out of the feral cat food bowl, so there's nothing i can offer them?~
Its not easy....they are very cautious about coming near me....its worst when they give a call to others.. it seems that they r not to keen to befriend me... eventhough i give them food...nice recommendations though
ExtendeD* :)
Thanks ;-) I changed it
@@KrariTheCrow My pleasure. I know how much Germans love to be corrected hehe.
Will a crow eat my other birds?
Try hiding food for the Crows they are raiders
Nothing escapes a crow ;-)
I put food out for the crows in my front yard and backyard and they aren’t eating it. Is it because they don’t trust me? I put out eggs and raw unsalted nuts
Dont need the music hard to hear.
These are Ravens, not crows
These are Hooded crows, corvus cornix.
:)
Oh no here we go with the awful music.
very good video thx
