He walks something, but plz show the humor :D I am German but despise this alleged German humor, which is just empty smart-assery, which is not even smart...
Yeah, I don't find him that funny and I don't like him, some things are just too much imho - but I can appreciate the work he does with exposing some messed up things.
Now you got to Böhmermann ☺ - he’s famous for telling a poem about the Turkish president (Schmähkritik) that was actually illegal slander (that’s the rough translation of Schmähkritik), but only exactly until the Turkish president filed a complaint about it. Once that happened, the poem was pulled into the context of "what you’re not allowed to say", which turned it into legal satire. Böhmermann then won in court but was forbidden from ever telling that poem again in public, because he’d never be able to create the same context again.
@@Therawpy Yes, and that was hilarious, because he did it as an example of what is *illegal* to say in Germany and if Erdogan had not filed a complaint, Böhmermann could have actually lost in court. But after Erdogan filed that complaint, the poem was in such a strong satirical context, that Erdogan lost in court. (the larger context was that before this show a legal show was accused of being illegal)
@@Therawpy and he also called him a sheepf… and accused him of watching child p…. All three are illegal, so he falsely accused him of crimes - which is illegal in Germany. But he did that as example of what’s illegal (and after that example exists, doing such an example again would no longer be legal satire, but this one instance was).
Böhmermanns poem/song stepped into the realm of slightly abusive criticism. Since abusive polititians usually lack any sense of humor - or the ability to self- reflect.....Mr. Ergoghan - subject to Böhmermann' s song - lost it and thus made a complete fool of himself.

You'll love Böhmermann (ZDF Neo Magazin Royale)! :) Check out the 'pranks' he did that caused international state crisis. Like the middle finger of Varoufakis, the Chinese Game show, the Ibiza tape of the Austrian president, the insult of the Turkish president Erdogan with the goats and so on..
Wait. The Ibiza tape was not from Böhmermann :) he just got knowledge about it before newspapers did and confused the Austrian public with some early hints. I think it was offered to him first but he (and his team) rejected it back then.
@@LiebeGruesseI guess you could still count it as a prank because he build it up like he did something to then say „Hehe got you! Wasn’t me! And btw it’s actually the truth“
Jan Böhmermann is certainly controversial. Some say he goes too far every now and then, and there have been various court cases against him in the past. But his show is not only a comedy show, it also deals with serious issues, in a sarcastic way, but actually draws attention to real problems and grievances and it has often brought politics and authorities to put an end to these grievances. As far as this segment is concerned, you could also compare him to John Oliver (Last Week Tonight). I have mixed feelings about him, but a few of his contributions are really worth watching, as they are really well researched (real journalism) and because they are presented in an extremely funny way, so that the viewer actually learns something about the background and receives true facts, without being bored for a single second. And yes, he was sued by the Turkish president because I think he called him a goat f**ker and there was a law in Germany that forbade to insult the head of state of another country and thanks to the "Jan Böhmermann Affair" this law was in fact abolished afterwards because it was considered to no longer be contemporary, as this law had its origin in the German Empire (was already found in the law of 1871) and originally revolved around libel of majesty (i.e. the prohibition to insult kings and emperors of other nations). So his comedy actually had a long lasting effect and caused even a law to be changed, IMO for the better.
@@hschmidt79 Who exactly? Who is it, that these camouflaged "Nazis" call a leftist? Only Böhmermann? What makes this clown so special? Or every righteous hero who fights so hard for democracy and the good? Or were you just unlucky via thinking?...just asking...:)
@@hschmidt79 Wth bro. Do you even know what the Nazis did? Calling somebody a Nazi because they use the word "leftist" is certainly... interesting... I'm a bit of a leftist myself, but to deny that Böhmermann is far left is sheer delusion
Jan Böhmermann is a highly controversial entertainer, germans either love him or hate him. The quality of his show is top notch, wether you agree or disagree on topics. He does his research on the topics. Personally i like the geopoliticals shows of him the most, very educational and entertaining. It's hit or miss with him for me, sometimes he has three four banger topics in a row then some rather boring ones. Personal preference i'd say. I loved his german tabloid episode. Would recommend it.
I neither love him or hate him. From what I have seen in his talkshows and podcasts with Olli Schulz he has a lot of prejudices towards people he doesn't know, likes to treat people condescendingly and overall shows an unconscious perception.
I love him - except for the episode about trans. Bc he didn't do his research there. The study he referred to as the evidence that there are more than two sexes says exactly the opposite - as the author of the study said a lot of times already. And he also does not differentiate between trans and non-binary (but to be fair - no one does these days. Even tho both groups have totally different needs and backgroundstories and some demands by non-binary people are indeed harmful to trans people (well.. just as long as we declare and treat both as trans people tho. If people would differentiate, their demands would be no problem...)).
The idea for this skit came from a Dutch show, as Jan Böhmermann also said. There is a video like this for just about every country, even Mordor or the Wilderness or the Sunset. But it's true the German-speaking community was so excited, that there are also videos of regions, cities and dialects. UA-cam finds 'em all. :D
Shortly before the presidential election in the U.S., where Biden vs. Trump was the bid she was asked whom she wanted to see as next POTUS. Her answer was "Ich wünsche beiden Glück!" it translates to "I wish luck to both of them.", but beiden = both sounds exactly like Biden. ;-) so what she really said was "Ich wünsche Biden Glück!" and she not only said that, she also smirked and laughed a little...and I love her for being so cool.
"Wir gönnen es beiden" was also used as message of a beloved Cologne beer ad campaign. For some reason, the "e" of "beiden" was partly hidden behind a flying bottlecap :)
If you like Jan Böhmermann's extending-the-boundaries, but with surprising twists instead of punches in the face, you might enjoy his satire on "Schwiegertochter gesucht" (Daughter-in-law wanted). It also gives you a good impression how german satire mocks on germans and their expectations towards television events. The english subtitles are quite well translated.
Neo Magazin Royale used to be extremely juvenile and wildly hit-or-miss. It can still be very juvenile, but now it is sharply aimed satire sometimes paired with honestly impressive investigative journalism. A specialty of theirs is making songs (with music videos!) on the topic of the show, which doesn't _always_ happen, but it's usually spectacular when it does.
A lot of people in Germany don't like Boehmermann. Some think he goes to far, others don't understand his form of sarcasm. I really love his form of humor.
I honestly think it's just a "small" group of very loud and hateful people. Because most of the "criticism" that I see, is very often just right wing hate speech.
Böhmermann initiated an other collaboration, where comedians all over Europe sang a song about their countries being small but Europe being great. It's really good, especially the extanded version.
I'm probably completely alone with this opinion but to me Böhmermann's masterpiece was when he made a whole musical episode about a real life event that happened after reunifaction where a group of young social democrats from the former East threw eggs at the chancellor Helmut Kohl, who then decided to charge across the barrier and throw hands with them 😂. It's called "Der Eierwurf von Halle" (The Egg Throw of Halle) and it's actually really good musically and funny and explores the political and social issues of the time through a gay romance between one of Kohl's (West-German, conservative) bodyguards and one of the (East-German, leftist) activists 😄 Yeah it's wild and campy, there are people in egg costumes singing and dancing at some point, but it's all done very intentionally and tongue in cheek and it's so so good.
NO! ==> when he hired 2 actors and a made up fake flat for them for about 6 months to crash and take down a trash tv show of an other german tv station that was more than submissively and disrespectfully treating stheir most of the time disadvantaged candidates 😀
Jan Böhmermann is usually a lot more harsh than the other programs in Germany. The way he speaks is hard to translate, because he often does sort of a commentary on himself during his monologues - you might have noticed that he talks much faster than the subtitles, so some humor gets lost in the little quips. And the show also does investigative work, so they are a mixture of satire and original journalism.
I've watched all of them. The Dutch video is still the best, but Iceland and Lituania is great too. It was so cute to see so many TV shows from other countries laughing about the same this ❤
If you want to see how comedians work together internationally then watch "Comedians for world peace - do they know its europe" "Allein sind wir allein". Jan Böhmermann is there, too😉
the neo magazine usualy runs after the heute show, its like the heute show is warming you up so you can handle the neo magazine, so you did it in the right order :)
I think most people in Europe feel kind of "eh whatever" about Biden. He doesn't have a fan following or anything, but I think people are happy he's not Trump, and almost everyone would have been an improvement. But he's also not exactly the type of president anyone dreamed of, would be nice to have someone who has a bit more drive and personality. At least that's the general impression I get from the people and media here in Germany.
A decision between Biden and Trump is one of whether you wanna have a driver who tries not to fall asleep behind the wheel and one who is driving drunk. 🙂
That a pretty accurate description. 100% agree 😊 The election was "Trump" vs "Not Trump" and Germany felt great relief, since Biden might not be able to find that red button.

Because the pictures of the fall of the Berlin Wall went around the world and Hasselhoff happened to be there too, than all Germans were associated with him. Just like Nena and the armpit hair in the 80s. In addition, half of Germany sat behind the wall and developed a disgusting taste in music, which had an impact on the charts.
Nice, you found the best german showmaster :) I recommend taking a look at videos of him, dealing with his trial he had with Recep Erdogan, the turkish president. Highly controversial yet very entertaining and with a strong opinion. Keep it up :)
Jan Böhmermann is for me the best entertainer and satirist that we got in Germany. He's mainly talking about domestic issues but also now and then about European topics where Germany is involved like Frontex. And the researches of him and his team are everytime very profound. I also love his satiristic songs like 'Allemagne zero points' oder 'Warum hört der Fahrradweg einfach hier auf?'.
Volker Pispers, Serdar Somuncu, Harald Schmidt, Florian Schröder, Max Uthoff, Claus von Wagner, not to mention all the satirists from Austria and Switzerland, but yeah, you could call Böhmermann a satiristic presenter without a backbone, I guess 😅
I love how even without context you can tell by your reaction to the war and Hitler jokes that you're not German. It's all like "O.O can he say this?!" While we're like "No he can't, that's why it's funny" Like, I'm not trying to make fun of you, this is more about how I personally am realising more and more how growing up with the war history hanging over our country all the time has affected me/us Germans and our relationship to our country versus people from other countries with their country AND ours.
National pride was discouraged, because we know into what a populist xenophobe dickhole can twist that. (Trump and MAGA, case and point.) Subsequently i never really formed a sense of national identity or pride, which admittedly has pros and cons. "Ein nettes Wort wenn parat, ein ernstes wenn nötig" makes for a good friend, ally and person in general. I want no pat on the back when i'm oblivious to some senseless cruelty. In the realm of satire i tend to follow up a "holy shit, did he really just say that?" with a "thank fuck, some people take public discourse where politicians won't", because if a veneer of civility is used as cover to legitimize people's bigotry, i don't just want no part of it, it needs to go. If niceties stand in the way of getting to the heart of things, break their legs. Böhmermann I believe is in the top 3 of german satire shows with Neo/ZDF magazin royale. He goes more often "over the line" than "Heute show" or "die Anstalt", but also makes some of the best satire pieces as well as satire-music. If it comes to the pinnacle of satire content from germany in the recent 10 years, many Böhmermann pieces are up there as the very best and also sometimes most controversial.
I’ve seen all „second“ videos and they are hilarious! Lots of countries outdid themselves! And yes, he got sued by president Erdogan for writing a poem about him.
Jan Böhmermann is essentially the spearhead of satire in Germany. I've recommended him in countless comments before, and finally, you've found him. Regarding the name: The show used to be called "Neo Magazin Royal" because it aired on the ZDF Neo channel, which is a sub-channel of the ZDF network. Today, the show is called "ZDF Magazin Royal" because it airs on the main ZDF channel, every Friday. Now, here's the big secret of German satire: We have public broadcasting channels in Germany, which are state-owned. However, the government has no influence over the content shown on these channels. They are funded through a separate tax (too complicated to explain here). These channels serve as counterparts to private and premium channels. That's why satirists are allowed to do pretty much whatever they want within the bounds of German law. There's no media mogul who can do anything about it, no company that can make demands, and no one who can exert any kind of influence. That's why our satire is the way it is, simply because no one throws obstacles in its way. Of course, the general public complains constantly about Jan Böhmermann, especially when he touches on sensitive topics. He's particularly bombarded from the right side of the political spectrum, while for the left, he's a figurehead. Here are a few recommendations, starring NMR (Neo Magazin Royal) or ZMR (ZDF Magazin Royal). Named by the names you can find on UA-cam: (Songs:) - Jan Böhmermann - "Licht an! Licht an!" | NEO MAGAZIN ROYALE - ZDFneo - BE DEUTSCH! [Achtung! Germans on the rise!] | NEO MAGAZIN ROYALE mit Jan Böhmermann - ZDFneo - Wir sind Versandsoldaten - Jan Böhmermann & der Chor der Scheinselbstständigen | NEO MAGAZIN ROYALE - POL1Z1STENS0HN a.k.a. Jan Böhmermann - Ich hab Polizei (Official Video) | NEO MAGAZIN ROYALE ZDFneo (Shows that you will always remember) - Gut gemeint, schlecht umgesetzt: Das Problem mit deutscher Erinnerungskultur | ZDF Magazin Royale - Varoufakis and the fake finger #varoufake | NEO MAGAZIN ROYALE mit Jan Böhmermann - ZDFneo - Eier aus Stahl: Max Giesinger und die deutsche Industriemusik | NEO MAGAZIN ROYALE - Wer in Deutschland gegen trans Menschen hetzt | ZDF Magazin Royale - Wahlen in Ungarn - die letzte Chance für die Demokratie | ZDF Magazin Royale There are a lot of VERY GOOD shows from ZMR (NMR). But to your disadvantage, Jan often deals with domestic German topics. You would have to be in the know to understand the jokes and references. In the "Germany First" video alone, the Lombardis were featured, and they had been dissected by the show a week before. That's why I chose the ones that can be understood without much context.
Also that episode about Sebastian Kurz turning Austria into an authoritarian, corrupt, unlawful pseudo-democracy (this was before he was investigated and resigned).
most of the recommendations are probably a little bit to germany centered. so without context and knowledge they might be unintelligible, but varoufake was a very nice brain fuck at tha time. i recommend that one!
I love the humor of the other countries: America First ... ... "Poland Firster" ... "Czech Republic Second?" ... "Armenia Alternative First" ... "Serbia First After That" ... "Lithuania Third" ... "Slovenia Sloppy Second" And that's just Europe ... those videos are worth watching ...
Greetings from germany👋Especially the younger generation in germany love the work of Jan Böhmermann and the Heute Show. We love this type of humor and sarcasm allways on the small gap betwenn sarcasm and indignity, but mostly in a self critical way due to the german history and political situation. In exactly the same way they broach the issues germanys politics. The germans hase deadpan humor and especially the younger generacions have a sarcastic and self critical view on the national and internatiol politics. I love to see people like you to understand and enjoy this way of black german humor.
Hey, I'm 23 and from Germany (that rhymes lol). I LOVE Jan Böhmermann and "ZDF Neo Magazin Royal"! *The AFD (uneducated nazis) hates them, so you just have to love them.* ☺️
You asked "Why is David Hasselhoff so famous in Germany?" Well, many Germans ask themselves the same question. But we love Knight Rider, Baywatch and his hit single “Looking for freedom” so much. For whatever reason. We Germans probably don't know ourselves.... 🙃
Jan Böhmermann developed into one of the best known comedians and journalists in Germany. His humor is often harsh, sometimes stretching legal bounds or simply breaking them. He has had a shit ton legal problems because of things he said. But he is someone with an uncanny sense for things that go wrong in Germany and has a team that does thorough research. That's why some groups fear him. There are plenty of people that fell because of things he brought up to the public. And it's not only politicians but celebrities, companies, media etc. And some revelations even killed careers.
I think the biggest difference between the dutch version of this clip and the other nation's versions, is that the dutch version was specifically made for the dutch audience (not knowing that it would start a trend). So the jokes are maybe a little bit more inside jokes and references made to persons for example arent that well known abroad. All the sequels from the other countries were made for both the domestic audience and international audience, so they are probably lacking those very specific jokes only a native would understand. Although no one does wall jokes better than Germany of course 😅
And he's a typical corporate dem - but since the corporate democrats are as corrupt as the republicans, they will never let one of the true reformers, like Bernie or Marianne Williamson, get the actual nomination. All in all, Biden has passed a lot of surprisingly meaningful legislation - in sum, he actually managed to accomplish more than Obama, so far. Unfortunately, they are really really bad at PR, so nobody will ever find out, and it won't help him in the next election. It's a shame Kamala turned out to be such a zero during her vice presidency - otherwise, he could have passed the baton on with honor, and retired, and let her run the reelection campaign.
Jan Böhmermann has a very sharp tongue, he is not without controversy. His satire is often borderline, sometimes vicious. But always to the point. Compared to his "Neo Magazin Royale," the Heute Show and other satire shows are kindergarten.
In my opinion Jan Böhmermann is the only German comedian who has earned the right to make jokes about the war, LGBTQ, about other ethnicities and about people with special needs. Because he has proven year after year that he spots injustice everywhere. Even when most people don't.
yeah, and especially because his jokes aren't aimed at those minorities in a mean, cheap way. he doesn't punch down. which is what satire should be about
@pia91 Genau. When he mockes a minority or a stigmatized group, you always know he's impersonating someone who says these things. And you know he mocks this person, not the minority.
@lulu111_the_cool you're exactly the type of person to be offended by said satire because it depicts you as the right-wing asshole you are while slinging slurs, hate and misinformation left, right and center when it comes to said minorities. Really no point in talking to hateful nutjobs
What's it like for a Glaswegian sitting down in Malaysia finding out that the country of your dreams is Germany? I'm sitting here in 🇩🇪 and would be happy to be in 🏴 once they rejoin the EU. (Just Scotland, Ireland and maybe the Welsh, not the English)
Jan is an amazing show master. People who do not like him, either hate him as he is quite at the edge with his satire, or because he definitely often focuses on the right wing and defending minorities, what conversative people do not appreciate. He is also very famous due to his poem and big (trial) dispute with Erdogan (!), as he insulted him in this way. He is definitely a persona non grata for the Turkish regime and its fanboys.
There are also people who hate him for his contributions regarding gaming, twitch, the online world in general, where he often made rather badly informed remarks. I think the peak was when he was making fun of the twitch 'cam girls' and 'pool streams' and brought Lara Loft as an example, calling her a 'sex masott'. While at that time Lara was not streaming regularly due to her fulltime job as a voice actress, she was mostly gaming and singing in her streams and was rather loved by the twitch community. People shitstormed Jan to the point that he apologized in his following podcast about that.
Do a few more of those America first- „#yourcountry-second“, hilarious. Even Iran did one😂😂 I think it’s like „we don’t mind where on your list we are- but we want to be over Irak“😂
Finally, someone is asking about David Hasselhoff again 😅 ! I would say he was longer famous in Germany because of night rider running here much later than in the US. Private tv bought the rights to air it kind of cheap, so it was running over and over again
Jan Böhmermann is definitely a notch up in any way. I find it really much better than the "heute show". Even the band "Tanzorchester Ehrenfeld" playing in the show, is great. Böhmermann was indeed in some international incidents and massively pissed off Erdogan.. It became quite an incident because Erdogan demanded to lock him away and had to learn that satire is no problem in democracies. There was also an incident with Varufakis where he counterfeited a video with Varufakis showing the finger to Europe to see what the media would make out of it. Whether there is any research or check done or so, before they freak out. He is highly media critical. He is also polarising, but his stuff is all very well-written and researched.
"Neo Magazine Royale" or recently "ZDF Magazine Royal" with Jan Böhmermann is Germany's best regular satire show on TV in my opinion. I prefer it a lot over the "Heute Show" for example. There were a few rather awkward episodes but overall it's high tier for sure. Lately the show seems to have gone in a direction similar to "Last week tonight" in the US (which I very much like).
15:05 when he says this about greece, he's referring to a video of a greek politician they faked to make it look like he's showing the middle finger in it. Since they are a professional studio, they made it look so real that some international press got fooled by it
I watched all of the videos as they came out. I was still in University back then, and we shared them during breaks for a bit of laughter, the mood was strange back then. There was a bunch of angry reaction videos on UA-cam as well, Americans realising for the first time that their new president was destroying whatever reputation they had left after their disastrous wars.
id have really loved to know about the US reception on those videos, i was in "tradeschool" at that time, and we had a big laugh and people were following to see which country does it next^^
Jan Böhmermann's show is a mix of investigative journalism and satire. My suggestions for you: - Schwiegertochter gesucht (daughter-in-law sought) - Austria's government around Chancellor Kurz - Addictive (mobile) games
Most of the countries did a fantastic job to become 2nd. I remember especially Netherlands 2nd, Israel 2nd and I recently rewatched Austria 2nd which had been very funny as well: ua-cam.com/video/Wq16driShSo/v-deo.html
Jan Böhmermann is one of the best political comedians or (cabaret artist) Germany has to offer. He is 2nd only, in my humble opinion, to Volker Pispers. They are GENIUSES, really. And I agree with the rest of the German-speaking folk, it is really a "love him or hate him" type of relationship
As many have already said, Böhmermann is pretty controversial. But rather popular and he does not pull his punches. I think all the other contributions were also hilarious and well worth watching.
ZDF Magazin Royal (or Neo Magazin Royal) is the most famous satire (politics show) in Germany. There are really many episodes that address incredibly important topics. And the previous show also had many good or funny songs. My favorite episode is probably the musical episode. But I guess for someone who doesn't speak German it's almost impossible to understand if no one translates it properly and writes context to it.
I sent you an email regarding Jan Böhmermann a couple of weeks ago. Might have gotten filtered out. There's not too much of his stuff available with subtitles but some of it could definitely be interesting for an international audience.
It s related to the European song contest ….. germans are mostly comedians in that game !! Greetings from an old man from Berlin Germany 🇩🇪 i love your style and like everything you post…. Cheers to that !
If you enjoyed this by Böhmermann you might want to react to his parody music videos as well. I suggest "be deutsch - Achtung Germans on the Rise" which I like to present to people as a microcosm of German national identity to others (it has the quite fitting lyrics "Say it clear, say it loud. We are proud of not being proud!").
As for Biden, someone like him would be rightly called elder statesman and only asked in Talk Shows or Conferences about his views to news topics, but he would be a pensioner in Germany. Konrad Adenauer was the oldest Chancellor with 87 years and he was called "Der Alte" or "The Old One" and all following Chancellors tried not to follow his mistake as he held too long onto power and the candidate he wanted to bar from office as he deemed him not able enough, Ludwig Erhard, was elected by his party, which he deemed as an indignity. All other aimed to retire before 70 and did so.
i am not sure if many people in germany know about the word "wanker". in german there is the word "wichser", which is effectively a literal translation of wanker ("wichsen" means "wank"), which is also used as an instult, but with a little different meaning. "wichser" is pretty much synonymous to "asshole". "wanker" obviously also describes a unlikable person, but usually has the connotation that the person is also kinda dumb or foolish, which is not really the case for a "wichser".
@@ThomasVWorm Yeah, sure, but most people don't know that and wouldn't know what "Schuhwichse" is, most people call it "Schuhcreme" and wouldn't say that they are "wichsen" their boots, they would say "Ich schmiere meine Schuhe mit Schuhcreme ein.", not "Ich wichse meine Stiefel mit Schuhwichse.".

Biden compared with Trump... That's a tough one. For starters I would say that Biden is more intelligent, not insane, no pathological liar (sure all politicians lie, but come on...), less dangerous, no racist, no anti democrat, no criminal and does not behave like a stubborn child compared to Trump. So yeah, you could say that most Germans look more favourably on Biden.
As a German, when I hear "America first", I strongly feel reminded of "Deutschland über alles". And the talk about building walls does not really need a comment.

Yeah they are great. The best one was iran before iraq imo.
You'll love Böhmermann (ZDF Neo Magazin Royale)! :)
Check out the 'pranks' he did that caused international state crisis. Like the middle finger of Varoufakis, the Chinese Game show, the Ibiza tape of the Austrian president, the insult of the Turkish president Erdogan with the goats and so on..
The Yanis middle finger was such a great prank!
'Schwiegertochter gesucht' was also epic!
Totally true!
So his comedy actually had a long lasting effect and caused even a law to be changed, IMO for the better.
...and some say he's a leftist rodent and his "satire" only ever goes in one direction..:)

Shortly before the presidential election in the U.S., where Biden vs. Trump was the bid she was asked whom she wanted to see as next POTUS.
Her answer was "Ich wünsche beiden Glück!"
it translates to "I wish luck to both of them.", but beiden = both sounds exactly like Biden. ;-) so what she really said was "Ich wünsche Biden Glück!" and she not only said that, she also smirked and laughed a little...and I love her for being so cool.
Oh this one was FANTASTIC!
Thanks for that recommendation.
Hoping for a reaction video for this one!

I agree. I particularily loved the punchline "We don't even want your money. We have it already."
They are all great. But the swiss one maybe made me laugh the most.
It was an international Cooperation, the videos of the other countries are also very watchable.

"Warum hört der Fahrradweg einfach hier auf" and "Die Polizei weiß nichts im Internet" are both quite epic.

But, many many love him too
Böhmi als sarkastischer Bremer ist ein gutes Beispiel für Humor vonner Küste.

Boehmermann is great :)
Nein du bist nicht allein
Das war tatsächlich grandios

100% agree 😊
The election was "Trump" vs "Not Trump" and Germany felt great relief, since Biden might not be able to find that red button.

Like, I'm not trying to make fun of you, this is more about how I personally am realising more and more how growing up with the war history hanging over our country all the time has affected me/us Germans and our relationship to our country versus people from other countries with their country AND ours.

Thank you, finally Böhmi 😊
Please do more Neo Magazin Royal! Jan Böhmermann is very controversial.
Love this kind of humor.
Named by the names you can find on UA-cam:

There are a lot of VERY GOOD shows from ZMR (NMR). But to your disadvantage, Jan often deals with domestic German topics. You would have to be in the know to understand the jokes and references. In the "Germany First" video alone, the Lombardis were featured, and they had been dissected by the show a week before. That's why I chose the ones that can be understood without much context.

As a Austrian I think the video about Ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz is the best one.
I think Biden isn't evil. He's just old. But that's the fault of politics in general.
One of my favorite Jan Böhmermann videos is: Conangate - a message to Conan O`Brien
In my opinion Jan Böhmermann is the only German comedian who has earned the right to make jokes about the war, LGBTQ, about other ethnicities and about people with special needs.

Since they are a professional studio, they made it look so real that some international press got fooled by it
This was Böhmi's first masterpiece but is difficult to understand for someone who's not aware of the historical and economical context.

Böhmermann is the textbook definition of edgy. 😅But it's mostly the right who hate him with a passion. He also made some pretty cool musical numbers.
Böhmermann is just the best, because people either hate or love him, but no one doesn´t have an opinion about him.

Even one paragraph in German law got removed after the whole affair with the Turkish president 😂
I sent you an email regarding Jan Böhmermann a couple of weeks ago. Might have gotten filtered out. There's not too much of his stuff available with subtitles but some of it could definitely be interesting for an international audience.
Hey Mert, I enjoy this a second time with you, thank you for reviewing, greetings from Berlin!
its definitely worth it to watch the versions of other countries too! the dutch version made me laugh so hard :)
It s related to the European song contest ….. germans are mostly comedians in that game !! Greetings from an old man from Berlin Germany 🇩🇪 i love your style and like everything you post…. Cheers to that !
Jan Böhmermann is a guy deeply needed. He's taking straight what he's thinking and the investigational work of him and his team is great.
Jan Böhmermann makes really good content, highly intelligent. Dark, sarcastic humor. He's also pretty controversial, because he's a good one. :)
As a trans woman I also love his anti-TERF/transphobia-video. No need to tell the German right wingers don't like it.
i am not sure if many people in germany know about the word "wanker". in german there is the word "wichser", which is effectively a literal translation of wanker ("wichsen" means "wank"), which is also used as an instult, but with a little different meaning.
@@ThomasVWorm how is that relevant to anything i said?
Böhmerman is simply the best contemporary satiric there is in Germany. Most of his videos dont have english subtitles tho, so its hard to share them with you. Still, heuteshow is boomer humor compared to ZDF magazin royal
One of my most favourited episodes of him, and i enjoyed pretty much all of them. Even the seemingly boring topics.
Great guy :)
Jan Böhmermann is razor sharp and also did some epic undercover satire actions - for me, the best and most relevant, of these days👌🏼
I love Jan Böhmermann. He is fearless. 😁
7:15 well david hasselhoff performed his live gig while the Berlin-wall was ripped appart so he is part of german history singingin I´ve been looking for freedom while the wall was opening, as you saw in the clip, we germans like weird music like schlager and traditional german stuff and somehow david was on the right spot at the right time with the right music and text haha to explain it from the german perspective not many like the song but at that moment it was perfekt and became iconic and with a few drinks and weird germans we do enjoy it because its part of history and easy to sing too hahaa, allways when you see videos of the wallopening there allways bee david hasselhof singing in the background at least in our tv, probably to hide all the hard emotions it helps to sing a simple stupid song haaha
America first, Germany Förster!
As a German, when I hear "America first", I strongly feel reminded of "Deutschland über alles". And the talk about building walls does not really need a comment.
Incredible how Trump united the programs of the National Socialist Party and Socialist Union Party :)
i believe every famous person who has their dirty secrets in Germany fears to be on his show next. Really great show.
Germany got the best Jan Böhmermann in the world! It's totally true.
Böhmermann is one of the best, maybe the best comedian. He has also a investigative team and did good researches about politic themes in germany.
Personally I don't like Böhmermann, but I admit that this sequence was actually funny.
Yes Böhmermann got sued. He included a satire poem about him in his show. It was all over the media and changed an old law.
Can you try to find the Erdoan poem from this show? It was a huge scandal
There's lots more from Böhmermann. He's on the edge and quite innovative. And he brought down Sebastian Kurz!
