Nothing compares to 1 on 1 coaching. Having taken a few classes I can tell you I wish I would have saved the money and just paid for a few private lessons with one guy; you spend so much time standing around waiting for classmates to run the drill that the total amount of shooting time ends up being about 10% of the total time spent at the class.
This forum, if you can afford it, is absolutely the way to go.
I put a red dot on my pistol around Christmas and it's awesome to see someone else too through the motions of re-learning to shoot from irons to red dot.

On the second drill when youre running back, dont switch hands and then switch back to set up. Instead try turning you body the opposite way and run back, enabling you to keep the weapon pointed down range, but in you dominant firing hand. That should save you a few seconds. Happy shooting brotherman

Friend of mine went to a tactical training center in Ohio. Said it was the most fun he ever had with his clothes on. Learned how many bad habits he actually had. Ran through almost 1000 rounds of 9mm in 2 days. Came home with blisters.

Def one of the most important things to teach someone
When you're moving between target transitions, you might want to consider keeping a two handed grip while moving. like a compressed center axis relock position. It seems hollywood and john wickish, but it really does work when you don't have to constantly re-establish your two handed grip after transitioning between targets. It could definitely shave some time off of your drills, and help you in maintaining weapon retention if you happen to trip or slip while moving.

Just recently purchased a SigP365XL with the red dot optic. First pistol I have ever used with a red dot. Actually enjoyed it on the range. Does take some getting used to but I actually like it.
I keep putting off the red dot switch but realize that there are so many advantages. I love that the technology is getting smaller and cheaper for that most part( Sig, Shield ) etc.

It's practicing your ability to shoot with both hands, individually. Running will give you some fatigue you could experience in high stress situations. The real life application translates to "Oh shit, I got shot in the arm, but I still need to be in this fight". As for the running, that should be self explanatory.
Get yourself an airsoft,and run around the house.
Shoot into cardboard boxes, the Dyson don't like sucking up the plastic BBs.

I have stock piled the ammo and purchased a laser training device to help me along. You, sir have certainly made amazing progress with the red dot !!

Have you thought about the laugo alien pistol, the red dot doesn't move bc only the sides of the slide move might make it easier to shoot with a red dot on a hand gun, well when stationary anyway

You really should check out Scott "Jedi" Jedlinski with Modern Samurai Project, he is definitely one of the best RDS instructors you can train with.
When I was a kid in the forties in San Diego (WWII period) we used to play what we called "guns" & cowboys/indians. If we could be seen we could be "shot" so we always tried to be behind some kind of cover/concealment. It was similar with shooting/running/hiding but with toy cap pistols. Nothing sinister in our behavior because the whole USA was mobilized and fighting two wars on opposite sides of the planet. Some of our elected officials clearly don't understand this, don't understand liberty, don't understand preparedness, don't understand personal responsibility. Those elected officials are political panderers but not leaders.

Hey Colion I'm a New Orleans native. I been in Dallas for about 5 years now. I got my wife a 9mm and I'm going to get my first smith and Wesson 40cal. Where would you recommend us to get some real solid training and practice
