Don't discount Himanta Biswa Sarma, current BJP Chief Minister of Assam. If he is able to turn around his state like Modi did for Gujrat, he will come up organically as the main PM candidate. Otherwise Mr. Shah is the default choice.

He is a good leader, amazing diplomat, has great oratory skills(not as good as modi ji but still). India needs to have an economic centric leadership with Tech and Innovation as their focus and Mr Jaishankar talks about it in various conferences.
Not sure of the good leader but all the other traits u talked about are their in our EAM but to be the PM face he needs to step in the politics and that's where he is kind of reluctant and also there is no one better than mr. Jaishankar to handle the EAM as he is the correct guy for that ministry.
