My all time favorite basketball player. I lived in Baton Rouge and was attending public schools there during his heyday. Pistol Pete was the best! 💜💛💜💛💜
Pistol Pete Maravich is one of my basketball heroes. And not just because we have the same first name! He had a legendary career and made some incredible plays! He died way too soon. pistol Pete, RIP!
Jordan, all your videos are awesome. But I especially love the sports ones. I'm a huge baseball historian as well. I got to see Pistol play it would have been 78 or 79. He was with the jazz. I would've been 11 or 12 at the time. Played in Richfield ohio against the Cleveland Cavs. He had around 25 points that day.
Wow, what a life! I have never heard of him before, but I have never been a basketball fan. So sad that his life was over at 40, I hope his wife and kids went on to do well! Thanks for the video, Jordan!!! 🌼
thanks for this vlog Pete was such a unique basketball players. sadly his dad really pushed him. hear he had died on the radio. used to listen all the time to Focus On The Family radio program and several of the members of the show were playing with Pete when he died
Love it Jordan, I'm massive into the NBA and I love my Timberwolves. In recent times I've started to research and watch players who have retired,as there's so many great players to appreciate and pistol Pete is definitely one of them. I'll never get to go to his grave so thank you for your effort!
I remember in high school thinking he was the coolest thing ever. I'm so glad that after his injury he came out of the fog and embraced life. He died way too soon but as we can see through your vlogs he "lives."
Pistol Pete greatest college bkb player ever and imagined to be so ahead of his time that after him it still took 15+ yrs for another person to do what he was doing on the court
My father used to coach with Press and Pete at summer basketball.camps. I met them both in the 70's. Great men on the court. Thanks for remembering them both today.
I remember the first time watching Pistol Pete on the court , and I thought this guy is amazing and I became an instant fan. Thankyou so much Jordan for telling his story such a beautiful tribute what a legend to the sport .RIP Pistol Pete⚘️
Pete played High School ball in Upstate SC at Daniel High just outside of Clemson University and is probably Clemson's greatest loss as far as players not signed.
I am not a Basketball fan at all but when the conversation of the greatest of all time is brought up I always hear the big names like Jordan, LeBron, Kobe, etc. Why is this guy never mentioned ? He sounds like he was one of the greatest of all time, just curious. Another great vlog keep up the great work and be safe out there.
Great Vlog today!!! Tony was saying that he remembers when he playing here in Utah in the late 70s well, they would go to the Jazz games and watch them.❤
Love the Celtics, huge fan also, when living in Webster and Worcester we never missed a game. Larry Bird was our man and I remember Pistol Pete very well, thanks for this it was great😎🐾
Good Morning Jordan, I know you've covered Gram Parsons before, but were you aware of a musical collaboration with Brandon deWilde, the child actor most famous as the kid in "Shane" ?
Thanks Jordan, (jah) he was a great basketball player, remember him in my youth, too bad they didn't have 3pt shots, in those days, he probably would have broken that record as well 😉
LSU is consistently ranked as having the most rabid fan base ( I live in the south- it’s a compliment here) so I’m guessing that’s why they have those bronze sculptures fenced off - for their own protection…because things regularly get out of hand with the crowds at their games.
Absolutely. Using game film, all of Pete's shots in college were charted. Using today's college 3 point line, Pete would have averaged 57 points per game in his college career.
@@EscapeArtistClub those stats are from college. Pete was one of those special talents, but he never won anything. He had a playground style and had no problem playing 1 on 5, but you can't win that way. For me, he was a one of a kind character. A human highlight reel, who won't be in the "greatest" conversation.
I don't know for sure but the points he scored were before they allotted 3 pointers for shots from outside the semicircles. Otherwise in today's scoring rules he scored way more than he's awarded for.
He was born with a heart valve missing that's why he died so young and I also read that if he didn't have the training his dad also a drunk did like dribbling out a car window while the car's driving and other crazy things he wouldn't have lived so long definitely an icon in college basketball nobody I mean nobody will ever break his scoring records. Rest in peace Pistol Pete Maravich
What I've read so many times is that he was born with just one coronary artery. That is what so many reports are saying now. anyway Anyway, according to whoever autopsied him, most kids born with that birth defect die before age eighteen. Almost none ever reach twenty. And they can never play sports.
Pete was a great player both in college and and as a pro. I recall you doing a video on him before where you were allowed to go into the gym and actually see where he played his last pick up game. Thanks for this one as well.
So glad to see this. Pistol Pete was one of my dad's favorites. So glad Pete overcame his demons and left a long legacy in his short life.
Growing up in Raleigh, NC, Pistol Pete was legendary!
My all time favorite basketball player. I lived in Baton Rouge and was attending public schools there during his heyday.

Pistol Pete. What a player he was. No doubt one of the best to play the game! I remember him well. Thanks, Jordan.

I love basketball and Petes my dude. Thank you so much for doing this. The way Pete passed away still gets me in the gizzard.
Great vlog, loved the locations, photos and backstories. RIP Pete Maravich.

Hi Jordan, oh my, another great sportsman gone way too soon, such a shame. I'm really pleased that they have a statue for him. Great vlog Jordan.

Hi Jordan, I live near Baton Rouge. They just unveiled his statue in front of the Maravich center on LSU'S campus.
My father used to coach with Press and Pete at summer basketball.camps. I met them both in the 70's. Great men on the court. Thanks for remembering them both today.
My Uncle played with Pete at LSU. Pete was right up there with Michael Jordan as being the best Basketball player ever.
He was so good at ball handling that he could dribble a basketball through the window of a moving car.
Great vlog on Pistol Pete.
Remember Pete from his lsu days. Team wasn’t much but he was in another world. He was a living legend
Great player, I remember collecting his rookie card! Nice video, thanks!
Thank You for the Awesome Video Jordan. Wow that Statue is Beautiful.
I remember the first time watching Pistol Pete on the court , and I thought this guy is amazing and I became an instant fan. Thankyou so much Jordan for telling his story such a beautiful tribute what a legend to the sport .RIP Pistol Pete⚘️
So sad to hear that. Very educational stream. Thank You for sharing.
Pete played High School ball in Upstate SC at Daniel High just outside of Clemson University and is probably Clemson's greatest loss as far as players not signed.
I remember watching him play with LSU, it was like his feet had wings. He was always in the air running with the ball. He was simply magic.
Red Auerbach said he was the best ball handler he ever saw, that's all ya need to know. Averaged 44 before 3 point line .

Good vlog. I remember the other vlog you did on Pete. Thanks for telling his story. You and Jah stay safe.
Great Vlog today!!! Tony was saying that he remembers when he playing here in Utah in the late 70s well, they would go to the Jazz games and watch them.❤

Pistol Pete... great moves, great hair, great man. Thanks for this video
You can tell Jah'rule knows what's up. You said "let's go see Pistol Pete". And his ears popped up.
Thank you for sharing
✌️🇺🇲🙏
Jordan what a great video, you did such an excellent job on this thanks again and love seeing that handsome pup.
Love the Celtics, huge fan also, when living in Webster and Worcester we never missed a game. Larry Bird was our man and I remember Pistol Pete very well, thanks for this it was great😎🐾

Another Great Vlog
Good Morning Jordan, I know you've covered Gram Parsons before, but were you aware of a musical collaboration with Brandon deWilde, the child actor most famous as the kid in "Shane" ?
thanks Jordan, interesting, stay safe
Rip to him
Great story of Pistol Pete
🙃so young! 🙃 thanks jordan.....
The GOAT
Loved Pistol Pete. I got to see him play against the Phoenix Sun's. TFS
I've been there and yes they do have some memorabilia of his inside.
My guess about the fence around the statue is it appears people were chipping off the two back top corners for souvenirs.
Thanks Jordan, (jah) he was a great basketball player, remember him in my youth, too bad they didn't have 3pt shots, in those days, he probably would have broken that record as well 😉
My cousin played with Pete at Broughton High in North Carolina
I've heard stories of people who were music lovers doing that with their guitars. the heck with school give me my guitar
I think I 👀 painter's tape on the base of the Statue .Some maintenance work possible?
A former pastors wife went to high school with him. Gone to soon. I remember that vlog you did.

Is it true that he averaged 44 Points per game even BEFORE the 3 point shots were introduced to the game?
Absolutely. Using game film, all of Pete's shots in college were charted. Using today's college 3 point line, Pete would have averaged 57 points per game in his college career.
@@spooge33 So, by that adjustment would he be the best ever? I think Jordan averaged 30pts a game in his career.

Very sad.
How tall was pea
6 foot 5
Sounds like he may have had Marfan syndrome or a related problem. Now a person that has this syndrome may not be drafted.
Maybe not the strongest player of all time , but nobody has ever maneuvered a basketball like Maravich and probably never will.
Is Pete's mom buried beside he and his father?
"unexpected" bro predicted his own death, why would you call this "unexpected"?
Pete was a great player both in college and and as a pro. I recall you doing a video on him before where you were allowed to go into the gym and actually see where he played his last pick up game. Thanks for this one as well.
Great stream Mr J, pete was 1 of the best he had magic in his hands. 🏀🪦
