The thing I thought was the prettiest about the og map was the skybox. The swirly clouds were so PRETTY and COOL, especially in the sunsets. There were tons of stars in the sky, the moon bright and Big. The Chapter 2 map has a similar skybox, yet they tried to make it more realistic. Instead, they cluttered up the skies and turning them into the fog, with the sun and moon looking too realistic. The old skybox fit the theme of Fortnite so well.
What I love about the season 1 Map is, that it did not rely on POIs, but more on landmarks like smaller houses and stuff like that. This would give you the chance to either land on a crowed spot where you could get the most loot but would have a rough start, or could land more relaxed on a lonely house between Greasy Grove and Moisty mire for example. I feel like this was completely gone later on in the chapter. It was hard not too land on a POI, because they were everywhere. I really wish epic kept the old map system, was much more fun
This is genuinely the best video exploring the ch1 map, everyone else shows old poi’s, but that’s not where the real memories are. Those poi’s are in creative as prefabs. But small little landmarks such as the dozen abandoned huts, houses, and buildings is where the nostalgia is for me at least. Since that’s where you would hide and get your first win, or where you find the scared default with no weapons
1 year later I'm here to tell you that you are absolutely right. I remember the iconic isolated building looting them, looing at the funny Easter eggs here and there... I felt too old for the game when I started playing it back at the end of September 2017. I was 20. I don't regret playing it and sticking around for all this time. It was a beautiful game.
I have absolutely no doubts that the og map will return to Fortnite in chapter 3, But Nostalgic Fortnite is something that will be locked away in our deepest memories.
Hey don't get to worried Creative 2.0 is coming out soon and there is a really good chance that very intelligent programmers responsible for project rift or project era will recreate the original fortnite map so you can actually play it on fortnite Expect this between the next 3 to 12 months :D
3:01 i used to go into a battle royal match and rebuild the house with wood. Made it a homealone style thing you know? Spike traps and jump pads. Its how i got my first victory royal
My god, there’s not much I wouldn’t give to go back and play this in 2017 once more with my friends. This was exactly the video I was looking for. Thank you.
Fornite really goofed up their game. It used to be so much fun. Of course it was going to stop being fun at some point, as all things, but they sped that process up by making unnecessarily wild changes to the game.
I remember a time like this just having fun with friends that are no longer, walking around talking cracking jokes just overall a very good time, thanks for resurfacing my memories. ❤️
Tbh I really don’t care if people liked chapter 2 But I quit Fortnite because, it just doesn’t feel the same anymore for me. It could be fun for streamers, and many of you guys but honestly for me since everything is so different I don’t get the original Fortnite feeling I used to have. The graphics, the sound effects, the color, the designs has changed way to much. I’m sorry Epic Games, but thank you, for supporting your fans, and trying your best to keep the game going on the #1 spot. Have a great day y’all. Thx for the heart man ❤️
I feel the same but what I do is attempt to recreate original locations from season 1 only and I'm currently working on loot lake! I'm done with the middle island but I still have a few ammo boxes and 1 more chest to place
I remember staying up late nights my junior year of high school to play this game now I’m almost a junior in college and these are nothing but distant and fading memories with my old high school friends that I haven’t seen or heard of since 😣
I still remember playing the game when it first game out, and I was infatuated with the style of it all. Slowly falling in love with the cartoonish battle royale that stole all my time when I was 15. From season 1 to season 4 was when I played. Getting home everyday from school just to play the game and always choosing to land behind wailing woods and on top of the builders house is something I’ll cherish forever. So many memories with friends. I just don’t like the game anymore, I genuinely hoped that chapter 2 season 5 might’ve brought back the old map but I was disappointed:(
Hey, it brought back some old locations. Maybe some day they’ll give us some sort of Fortnite classic game, but until then, it seems we’ll just have to wait, sigh. I’m excited for this season, though!
14:15 So much memories here... Always looting snobby first, then go to this house, pleasant if the storm was far away... And when i was in circle i went for haunted hills and then junkyard...
to be honest, i miss the chapter 1 style landscape. I liked the tall hills with the lighter / darker grass depending on the region. I also miss the more messy looking hills (the grass terrain prefabs in creative) and also the caves.
I love how you stopped and listened to the chest sound hearing that brings back an entire era of emotions for me and it reminds me of good old fortnite and it also reminds me of the original vibe fortnite gave off its awesome
Don't get me wrong, I loved the Chapter 1 map especially in season 1 through season 4, but after that the map became way too chaotic and way too cluttered, it was time for a new one. If they ever brought back the old map it should be the season 3 map which is what I consider the "classic" map. The Chapter 2 map is nice, I just wish it was a little brighter and looked a little more cartoonish, it looks too realistic for Fortnite's graphics style imo. In terms of map and artstyle, nothing beats season 1-3 for me. I just remember me and my friends hearing about this new free game called Fortnite back in October 2017, we tried it out and we all had a blast playing it. The places I remember landing the mos clearly are Salty and Dusty Depot. We also landed at the place that would later become Lucky Landing. Good times. They still play the game from time to time and I'm the only one who still plays it consistently.
if i’m being honest i loved playing in season 3 but the map is just not made for the skill of most players these days. a lot more empty than the map we have now, not to mention competitive s attention span is so little so they would be over the nostalgia in a couple weeks.
It’s funny you say that Chapter 2 has too realistic graphics for Fortnite because chapter 2 looks way more cartoony than the game looks now in Chapter 5
Great video, really enjoyed this. Fortnite was truly beautiful in its early days, can't stick it anymore. I play EZFN and used to play project Era, I'll never get bored of the OG seasons.
I could cry right now watching this. i miss S1-3 so much. i was so addicted. now i cant stand to play it.. just few team rumble games a week. and this is coming from a guy that was top 3 on global wins season 3 in solo.. playing 35hours in a row once. ruining my hand/elbow because of overuse. so i had pains for few months after haha
5:50 me too bro, the people who did it were the first to make RP fortnite skits and my 12 year old self loved it 😂. I grew over that ofc but man does it bring u memories.
The emotions I have towards this map are hard to put into words. I started playing when I had just turned 15, and I’m 22 now. I barely get to play games anymore, and when I do, it’s not the same. Eventually I hope to find something that brings me the same emotions that this game once did.
Wow. That was _so_ relaxing. Thank you. 😁 *Full disclosure:* I have zero nostalgia or any emotional connection to the game (though I am big fan of the 4-inch action figures, 'cos those are top-notch toys), but I'm fascinated with the art style and the evolution of the terrain. It's interesting to see something that feels so quiet (a fall-over from the original zombie survival game?) turn into the massive playground it is today. The colours actually make me very nostalgic for the old PS1 _Spyro_ games - that lush, cartoony, pastoral vibe that really brings back some good memories.

3:23 i am almost sure my first time landing was on one of those houses... it was the day of battle royale launch and i got like 5 fps ;/ got my pc on christmas tho, so i was able to experience whole season 2 which was also super OG

Damn I miss the old map so much! I remember I first landed in flush factory for my first ever game and then getting absolutely pumped by someone in the first 20 seconds lol, this was start of season when people started sweating
The ark music at the end fits so perfectly 😌 I'm gonna go on a little bit of a talk here so bear with me 😅 I dont even know why every time i hear fortnite season 1 up to 4 i feel so nostalgic and sad . @Tøxîç when u think that you are superior but u are just a small little kid acting tough but in reality gets bullied everyday in school, how bad does it feel eh? gtfo nigga
the people who disliked this video are those sweaty tryhard kids who did not experience the days of dropping your favorite location in season 1 and like to bully kids who only talk about going to og locations on the map right now
As a very late Season 4 player, properly started in Season 5, this also gives me nostalgia because of the majority of the locations. When it comes to Moisty Mires, I can only remember the "remix" with Paradise Palms in Season X. Flush Factory, Lonely Lodge, Paradise Palms (in the later seasons) and Wailing Woods as well as Snobby Shores were my go-to landing spots.
season 7 chapter 1 player, and i honestly loved the snow biome. landing at frosty flights and trying to get a plane fighting like 10 other people was always really fun and a chaotic start
@@amialovesbugs The snow biome was amazing! Especially when the 'Ice King' had covered the whole island in snow. Like "why tf is there snow in a desert biome?"(🤣)
For me fortnite as we know it today isnt the fortnite we knew in 2017 id do anything to go back and have the feeling off having fun and making memories😔
God u don’t know how much I wish I could go back to when fortnite first came out. It may sound cringe but fuck hilly I don’t know how awesome it really was
As much as I love Season 5... I really wanted to go back to Season 1 and then go through all 10 seasons again before the Big Reboot. (I joined in Season 5 btw)
@@Mewtwo_150 then people will get bored of being on a map that’s not new and know what would happen to it in the future and how the storyline will play out.
I think the only reason they brought chapter 1 back is to gain the players they lost because of chapter 4. Now these players will play for the whole month then see what chapter 5 will be. I think they are planning something big for chapter 5 and trying to gain players back.
@@BuIRSnouvsru Donald mustard left Epic a month ago. He was the lead writer of Fortnite since the beginning of the game's existence. The final thing he always wanted to do before he left was to go back to Chapter 1. Then when that's over, it'll lead into Chapter 5 and the new writer (Charlie) will reboot the story, using something old to create something new.
My favorite named locations where Dusty Depot and Fatal Fields (that where in the game back then) Unnamed: salty mountains, loot lake factories and grandma’s house.
Bro the second the video started the old music hit me like a truck. Wish they made a mode called "Fortnite Classic" where it was the old map and old music.
The simplicity, the birds in the background, the soft ambient music, the simple skins and cosmetics, simple hud, basic weapons and basic POI’s. Where did it all go wrong?
When I first played this game I was overwhelmed (especially by other players) so I had to quit the game.If I knew exactly what the game would store for us then I would have never quit it.
I actually never played Fortnite back when it released. I only played from S4 onwards on Nintendo Switch. I didn't really appreciate the game for what it used to be then... ...But now, I look at this and long for this. I feel Epic is very incompetent when it comes to adding more maps or older features. Dusty Depot became my favorite location due to it being simple and pleasing to look at when it returned, unlike every location from Season 8 and onwards. I also held some love for Wailing Woods. I really want there to be more options for us in Creative to recreate this experience. Terraforming, different biome type islands, weapon design toggles and customization... stuff that I actually would use. Also, I'd like to see what the weapon stats used to be back then. If they do add stat modification, I could use it to replicate a Season 1 - 3 experience.
Best way to do that is to watch some old videos. Also, if you check the description, I made a great dusty/factories map down to every detail. I’m sure you’ll love it :>
Hey I made a short using some of the clips in your wonderful video you have but my short is blocked I'm pretty sure because of copyright but I gave your credits I'm just wondering if you can do anything to make in not copyright but if you can't that's ok.

I just want to thank you for letting me remember how good fn used to be and thank you for the great video, it almost made me cry ngl 😅
Thank you for making this Video man! 😪❤️

Wait isn't season 5 never existed yet?? does it??

the people who disliked this video are those sweaty tryhard kids who did not experience the days of dropping your favorite location in season 1 and like to bully kids who only talk about going to og locations on the map right now
why am I crying…
@@jeremyslegg people waking up would be like "WHAT THE"

It comes out again today let's goooo
For me fortnite as we know it today isnt the fortnite we knew in 2017 id do anything to go back and have the feeling off having fun and making memories😔
God u don’t know how much I wish I could go back to when fortnite first came out. It may sound cringe but fuck hilly I don’t know how awesome it really was
As much as I love Season 5...
I really wanted to go back to Season 1 and then go through all 10 seasons again before the Big Reboot.
(I joined in Season 5 btw)
Yea but the season is only lasting a month and if we have all 10 seasons each season would be about 2-3 days
@@BuIRSnouvsru they could've made it two months long to fit everything
My favorite named locations where Dusty Depot and Fatal Fields (that where in the game back then)
Unnamed: salty mountains, loot lake factories and grandma’s house.
I've heard it called dusty factories, salty factories but never loot lake factories.
Im og from s3 but i liked dusty divot better with the trees
@@benjyyy4168 no, there where factories at loot like and I would always go there in season 7
@@vtkq I started in season 5 and dusty depot was my main drop spot from season x
@@Milani-qe7jp oh I'm stupid. I completely forgot about those ones
The ark music at the end tho
This is what I'm using. This video for me is a huge reference video for me to build on Creative mode
Bro the second the video started the old music hit me like a truck. Wish they made a mode called "Fortnite Classic" where it was the old map and old music.
Why. I litterly open UA-cam. See this video and then Memory’s start playing on the radio 😂😂
The simplicity, the birds in the background, the soft ambient music, the simple skins and cosmetics, simple hud, basic weapons and basic POI’s. Where did it all go wrong?
Damn man. I loved the old music so much.
18:12 I thought this was called ‘Castle Rock’
When I first played this game I was overwhelmed (especially by other players) so I had to quit the game.If I knew exactly what the game would store for us then I would have never quit it.
I’m close to crying
If I was a billionaire I would make this map irl and live in it.
I’m sure you’ll love it :>
Same dude but i played on S3 on my ps4
Back then I thought fortnite sucked but look at it now.
kevin gittens This was a loooooong time ago. I've quit playing BR and only return for STW daily missions and some Creative

Great to see that with Creative 2.0, the OG map is added back :)
why they ever changed the art style of Fortnite boggles me...
