Kids Have A Horrific Sledding Accident | Brother And Sister End Up In The ER Together

- When we left our house, we were headed out for a fun day of sledding with cousins. We never imagined the horror that would come after one trip down the hill. Austin and Claire hopped into a sled together and pushed off down the hill, we quickly realized that this was going to end VERY badly. Both Austin and Claire were very badly injured. Austin landed face down in the snow and was completely unresponsive, Claire had the wind knocked out of her and had a large cut on her head. We quickly rushed them out of the canyon and to the hospital. We walked away from the ER with stitches in Austin's chin, a pretty major concussion, and Claire needed staples in her head. This was the scariest day of our lives😱

Their poor mother she seems more traumatized than either of her kids. Luckily the kids are built Ford tough and will come out of this with a great story to tell.

Ok, no hate, but I was disgusted by the staples. They are both so strong and brave. I was so scared when I got my stitches, and she didn’t even flinch.
Same here it freaked me out.
I have had both, I had stitches in my hand and staples in my head and honestly staples don’t hurt as bad mainly because it goes by so fast, now my stitches killed me but the nurse also did it wrong with no numbing medicine 😅

So sorry those kiddos suffered a sledding accident, but they were troopers, and so were their parents! Here’s hoping everyone heals quickly! It’s amazing how still they both were through all the care they were getting.

Austin and Claire are so tough. I couldn't even watch them numbing her head before she got the staples. I felt so bad for Teri, when she started crying. I know as a dad how it just kills you when your kids are in pain. I am so sorry that your day with your sister was ruined but I am so relieved the kids were released from the hospital after a couple of hours. You 2 are fantastic parents. Love you guys

I’ve lived in CO my whole life and have been a first responder inner city,ski patrol, and life flight and have airlifted lots of kiddos off the mountain who had similar accidents that didn’t turn out so well. I’m so happy the kids walked out of the hospital, super lucky. Thankful they are all ok ❤🙏

I’ve had 2 er trips in the past 7 months for things like this. I have a massive scar on the back of my head from where it was cracked open. I also remember waking up covered in blood on the ground with what I fell from on top of me. The staples hurt and I felt one go in. I also had a concussion which I am still recovering from 7 months later. The scar is almost exactly where Claire’s will be. Hope they get better! Sending hugs when needed!❤️

Dad always listen to your intuition. Better safe than sorry. Our angels often warn us ahead of danger but we have to be in-tune and in-sync to "hear and heed the warning". Both kids are blessed to have gotten away with stitches only. Please inform the rangers or whomever is overseeing the slope or ask the local TV station to run a clip on the dangerous slopes since the hospital said more than 50 injuries occurred.
OMG I am so sorry Austin and Claire had that accident. My prayers are with you that both recover fast and won't miss too much school. Love Y'all

I’m at work sneaking in video during my break. This had me crying and in prayer mode. Unbelievable how a hidden bump could cause so much injuries. Glad to hear Super Mom and Super Dad were fast tracking to hospital. Relieved they were sent home to heal. Clay is right there needs to be extra signs up for caution. Keeping Mcneel family for healing prayers...love you all!

I went sledding with my friend and her church group (she's also a member of LDS). I flew up at the bottom of the hill like they did and fractured my back in two places! Sledding can be surprisingly dangerous! I went sledding again the next year though and I'm completely fine now thank goodness!
I see the Binghams skiing alot. People in Colorado and Utah are used to such events. Well, Sonny Bono was killed skiing!

Oh man! I'm glad it wasn't worse and I was thinking, "I wouldn't let them go two at a time anymore." Lol also, I have a friend with a daughter named Claire and they call her, "Claire bear" too.

Tough kids! I am really surprised that he was diagnosed with a concussion but was on his phone in the hospital and the Doctor didn't say anything, that's a huge no no when you have a concussion, and yes I do know from experience because I have been on disability for over 5 years because I suffer from Post Concussion Syndrome, because I never recovered from a serious concussion, my internet access is limited because of my Syndrome and for a very long time I could not go on at all or watch TV, I'm just very shocked to see him on it after he was told he had a concussion, I hope they are both doing well!
Me: when I get stitches above my eyebrow sobbing had to get held down by my dad. Claire:when she gets stitches in her head doesn’t move like your so brave girl good for you

Just a thought from a Canadian mom.. always make sure kiddos wear a snowboarding helmet while sledding!! It’s so important!! Also that black sled is not meant for what you were using it for..you need one that has the rounded front it slides over humps, it doesn’t dig in and throw passengers off!

Back in the early 80s I was a kid and I had a runner sled. I was going down a hill and didn't make the turn and I hit an ice wall head on bending the metal runner slide that I had and snapping my head backwards. I was taken to the hospital with a fractured neck. If I tried to bring my head down level I would end up passing out. I had to wear a neck brace for the longest time. I'm glad the kids were able to make a full recovery.
But why don’t you wear helmets, at least the girl would’ve been uninjured
Have your ever been to an actual ski resort? They don't even require helmets nobody is gonna do that unless your a proffesional in dangerous unknown mountains
My sister closed the suv door on her head a few years ago. The head sure bleeds. 😭 So glad the two are ok and ready again to try sledding again. 😬 But wait till next year. They were really flying down that hill. Wow. Healing prayers. 🙏
