- We traveled to Belfast from Liverpool on the worlds slowest ferry...We think we could of swam faster 😂😂
We leave Liverpool and take the slow route to Belfast..8 hour crossing by Stenna Embla.
We had pleanty of time to explore the boat see the shop and taste the food....Though the bar was shut...we still managed to snag a beer.
When we finally got there we checked out a couple of Pubs but have to turn in early as we had lots to see the next day !!!!!

The ferry is from Birkenhead on the Wirral which is the other side of the Mersey. A lot of folk make this mistake.
Yeah we know the ferry leaves from Birkenhead…but the video starts in Liverpool.
It’s us travelling from Liverpool to Belfast ..
Great vid. Planning on doing the Triangle of Holyhead to Dublin, bus to Belfast then overnight ferry back to Birkenhead. The new ferry looks loverly and very cheap for foot passengers. The longest ferry journey I have traveled was 24 hours on the now defunct Gothenburg to Newcastle Route. The last ferry I took was just before COVID in Feb 2020 Amsterdam to Newcastle and it was really rough but fun as we diverted slightly so next morning we had cracking views of the North Yorkshire coast not normally seen from the ferry.
We have always fancied doing the Amsterdam trip 👍👍
no body made a comment, looks a good city.... have you guys ever fancied going to isle of man you can get a ferry from liverpool... glad you like belfast and best of all enjoyed the pubs....
It really is a good city...this is only our first of a few videos we filmed in Northen Ireland...👍👍
we have never been to the isle of man...its somewhere we must get around to seeing
If you travel an extra hour down the road to holyhead the crossing to ireland is only 3 hours or if you go via liverpool i'd recommened the night crossing. Get a comfortable cabin and just go to sleep and when you wake you are there.
Yeah we would definitely get a cabin next time 👍👍
Amazing vlog
Great trip
Glad you enjoyed the video 👍
@@Lastseensomewhere You're welcome 😁
Welcome to belfast, wee commentfrom me bit late but never mind Whites pup is one of the oldest tavern in belfast right beside the Monaco bar.
We would of checked it out if we had known.
We love a good old fashioned tavern 👍👍
Thanks guys for the content. We are considering the overnight sailing with our two daughters. Aged 2 and 4. Getting a cabin and hoping they sleep. What do you think? Thanks
If you are going over night then a cabin would be a must, especially if your travelling with kids. Hope you all have a fab time 🥰🥰
Thanks for the video what time do you have to check in by iam going to belfast in may and catching the 10 30 ferry from birkinghead thanks
We got there a hour and half before ..
But it’s always best to check stenna’s website to be sure…👍👍
Have a great trip 👍👍
Belfast is a fantastic city ❤️❤️❤️
@@Lastseensomewhere OK thankyou I don't think it says anything on stena Web site about check in but thanks anyway
The slow way? Get a cabin and head down, that’s the smart way! I worked on the old ferries back in the late 50s, way to go!
Great idea if your travelling through the night but we took the day ferry. We didn’t fancy sleeping all day then being awake all night 😳
It’s this boat I’m going on next week on Tuesday. Hopefully it’s good but idk man
Hi, was there much rocking with this route .
When we travelled it was like a mill pond ..it was really calm…but sooooooo slow 😂
But apparently it can’t get absolutely terrible…😳😳
Great video great times but just have to say as I'm from the Wirral it leaves from Birkenhead not Liverpool but like I say great video
Yeah we did leave from Birkenhead..😂
Glad you enjoyed the video 👍
Apart from our awful geography 😬😳😂
@@Lastseensomewhere totally understand I say Liverpool myself. IT gets annoying having to explain where the Wirral is everytime someone asks 😂
How did you park on the boat? Travelling in the next few days and wondering how it works in a car
You get onto the boat in single file, there are people on the boat that guide you around and show you where to park.
Do you guys realise its 150 miles from Birkenhead to Belfast
Yeah we did know how far it is
I took the Stena Estrid (one of Embla's sister ships, another e-flexer class) recently when Stena were running the temporary Holyhead - Belfast route. They're all lovely boats and if you do do it again, I would recommend the deluxe cabins (day or night) at the stern - they are amazing!
It was a really nice ferry..I think we would get a cabin if we ever do the trip at night.
It was a very long trip and the ferry went really slowly…
The ferry looks very nice! I’d probably not spend a ton of time on top. Love you 2 playing the switch to kill time! -S
It is a nice new ferry..it was freezing cold outside...and it was the middle of August it must be so cold in the winter..the switch is a good way to try and pass the hours...it was such a slow crossing 😬
it takes long to check in ? or u dont have a border to be checked
Yes there is a border
But being from the UK we didn’t have to be checked.
But if your not from the UK you have to pass through passport control.
these class of ferries due to their size can travel at a design speed of 22knots all of the e flexer class ferries designed by stena ro ro which are being ordered by stena line DFDS and brittany ferries all come with the same design speed to maximise full efficiency and travel time. They are not designed like a fast ferry as this would not be suitable as the main stay offering on these crossing due to the sea conditions experienced within these water, there would be frequent cancellations due to weather conditions etc.
Now that southern England to Belfast via Stranraer is no longer possible as a viable route, I would like to take the slow boat from Birkemhead. Overnight is OK but hotels aren't available till 3 pm so I would have to hang around with my bags till then.
That sounds like a bit of a headache for you 😬
Hope it all works out well for you in the end 👍👍
@@Lastseensomewhere yeah. I went for years via Stranraer. It was a long way round but you just stayed on the train or changed at Carlisle for a local train with no catering. I would have to leave Euston at 5 am ish to do the journey via Caenryan these days. They've really messed things up for long distance foot passengers.
@@Listenerandlearner870 it does sound a bit of a nightmare 🙄🙄
@@Lastseensomewhere if I went from Birkemhead I would stay overnight there. The boat looks really good.
@@Listenerandlearner870 it is a nice ferry 👍👍
👍👌👏😊❤️🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it ❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕🥰🥰🥰
If it's rough just lie somewhere flat. It may look silly but so would being sick. I was told that by someone who sailed to Iceland.
I am an old seaman, went to sea at 15 in 1957, I was never seasick, went all ‘round the world. It’s trial & error, try not to listen too much to what “experts” tell you, it’s up to one’s self. Keep calm, don’t worry about movement, stay in company, enjoying what you are doing and all the best to you. Not good if you dwell too much into the ‘movement’ !
@@jimcrawford5039 Whatever works. Crossing from Belfast I danced with the motion of the boat and it worked.
Not that interested in cities, I’ll be biking out of Belfast immediately and seeing the amazing countryside
You should watch our giants causeway video
We go all around the country side in that one seeing some beautiful country side locations
