Honestly its so tiring how they constantly bring him down for the colour of his skin , I get that they are close friends but its a damaging thing to say especially for all the darker poc who support nct like myself
Preferring paler/ lighter skin is just a cultural norm in Korea ( + other East Asian countries). Beauty standards like these are embedded into their society so the mindset that being paler => more attractive , will forever remain that way. I reckon chenle and Jisung’s comments related to skin tone aren’t really a big deal to Korean / Chinese fans since wanting to have lighter skin is normal to them if that makes sense...? Nevertheless, I will agree that idols in the kpop industry should have higher EQ in the sense that they should be more careful with their words when talking about stuff not all cultures are able to understand/relate to.. especially if they have a large international fanbase....

@@_oneshot_00_30 I completely understand what you mean but that doesn’t mean that the beauty standard isn’t damaging to the people who live under it as well I know so many East Asian and Asian people in general who have been negatively affected by the whole “white skin is beauty” rhetoric. It may be normal for some people it doesn’t make it morally okay. This same sentiment can be applied to weight for so many cultures thin is the only way to be beautiful but you have seen how damaging that mindset can be even for people who are thin so please do not so easily dismiss this issue just because it is “normal”.

I get that those types of comments are more acceptable in korean culture but I'm sick and tired of hearing the other members (especially the other dreamies) bring hyuck down for his skin colour. It could be very mentally damaging towards hyuck when they make these negative comments about/towards him about something that he can barely change.
Even if hyuck was fine with these comments (which he has stated his uncomfortability before) we still shouldn't excuse these colorist remarks especially when they have a large international fanbase that also includes a younger audience.
watching chenji like this just feels relaxing. i know they are polar opposites when it comes to activities but i don't mind watching their content even if it's just like another walk in the park. glad that they get to go out in Germany and walk around casually :)

@@rei__tv It was incredible !! Screamed my lungs out. They performed Hot Sauce, Ridin', Hello Future and Glitch Mode. There was also a segment were they were interacting with us and did aegyo and stuff. Jeno also took his jacket off at the end of Glitch Mode so that was great.

While I do believe that what Jisung said in this video was wrong (whether it’s a mistranslation or not, he should stop talking about skin colors), I do not believe that anyone should be sending him threats and calling him useless or untalented. You can criticize and correct him, but no one should be threatening and insulting him. Hold him accountable by letting him know that what he said was wrong and not okay. Some people are really using this incident as an excuse to just send hate to Jisung and that is not okay also.

jisung’s voice is getting deeper and deeper
I'm so overjoyed I got to see them at this festival, and it's even better to see that they, too, had a great time. The festival cut the performances of each group really short, so a lot of us were worried they might start wondering whether it was worth it taking such a long trip for a short performance. But NCT Dream *owned* Saturday Night. The atmosphere was amazing. And Chenji being able to just walk around in peace like this and take it all in without being bothered on the day after their show is the icing on the cake.
Finally behind the scenes for the Kpop Flex... I almost thought they forgot about it lmao.
Is it me or Jisung’s voice is getting deeper and deeper every single day. Not to mention he is getting taller, too. Like, is he still hitting puberty or what...
As far as I know for male, they are still maturing until they reach the full growth of mature male adult at 25, after 25 their growth will be slowing down.

You are always making your fans happy, you are always making sure that everyone around you are happy and healthy but what happened during that vlog from Germany was something far from good. You are an adult now so you should understand that making such jokes on people's appearance is not great. I understand that colorism is a really common thing in Asia - that common that people tend to forget about how hurtful it actually is, and your comment on Haechan's skin color was unnecessary and rude considering he was not there.
You are a public figure and you are always making sure to uphold your idol image. This time, however, you failed to do so. You were young back then so it was understandable to not know something, but now, as you got older, It's surprising to hear such things coming from you.
We all know how much you love all of the members but some things should be said behind cameras or better not to be talked about ever. Your insensitive comment hurt many people's feelings and we know hurting people is the last thing you want to do. So please, hear us out and research about this topic. We know you are not a bad person but it's never late to learn more about human decency.
We all make mistakes and It's okay. We just need a proper explanation of your action and an apology on the topic since It's not the first time you are making such remarks about Haechan's skin color.
I still love and admire you dearly but your action made me feel uneasy and sad. I hope you will apologize and will continue to make people happy through art. I hope you will learn from this situation and will try to be a person that people can be proud of.
Actually I have darker skin and sometimes it feels weird when people say ‘not pale’ or use some word like that… It feels like having dark skin is not good if you write it like that. I have dark skin and I’m okay with it but saying it some different way makes it appear like something to not be okay with… Where I live if someone has dark skin then they have dark skin so saying that it is a joke or you shouldn’t say it makes it bad.
It’s like if you comment on someones skin colour in a not bad way then it’s okay for me but you telling someone to not comment on someones skin because they might feel bad is not okay because there’s nothing bad in it…
So if nct dream never talk about Haechan’s skin it will be like they know it’s something “bad” . They are treating it like any other colour… Chenle was talking about how he became pale and the same way let them talk about how Haechan has darker skin. Sometimes you have to normalise thing like this if you want to stop colourism. Saying how someone should stop talking about a colour is downgrading it.

Like, having a dark skin is normal, It's just a skin color - there is nothing wrong with that. But It's the fact that they made jokes about it is what makes it quite problematic. I know Jisung loves all of his members, I know he loves Haechan. I'm Jisung biased myself but it's just disappointing to hear.

Jisung is applying the skewed ideology that lighter/paler is the standard of beauty. He continues to insist that Haechan should or wants to be paler which is why it's a colorist comment. This is NOT the same as teasing about their big heads, something that the members themselves have proudly stated that they have big heads and is in on the joke. Whereas you can see how uncomfortable Haechan is when they called him dark or burnt skin.
