Sure, Singapore is considered safe in general, but I think some of their pov seems to be seeing in rose tinted glasses. Leaving shoes outside is generally ok, but then again depends where you reside in, safety differs in private apartments with security as compared to flats. Leaving valuables such as wallet or mobile phones to chope a table in Singapore is a NO NO for me - asking for trouble only.
As an expat in SG let me explain why it seems as if so many of us are shocked seeing something not being stolen - it’s not us thinking that nothing GETS stolen, of course crime exists here. It’s that it won’t be stolen/mutilated/pissed on/etc. with a 100% chance in 10 minutes or so.
bro he's chewing nicotine gum? That's to help smoking addiction not get u an addiction to nicotine! That's why he can't stop chewing coz he's literally getting addicted wts
As an ang moh myself, I am happy to not be like any of the people presented in today’s video - especially this lady, always talking and complaining about her expat life in Singapore… anywho. Cheeeeeers!
Well bro.. There's many person name Boon, in Korean Sian is also a name like Si-An. Food name, there's also Stephen Curry, why can't you name a baby, Laksa? Don't judge names la.
I am White, my wife is too. We have 5 kids here in our HDB. We are not particularly socal to other whites here too. Most men, are nobodies back home. They act on their over hyped fictional egos. Like how you & I may have thoughts in our heads, even say stuff in the shower. But, never say it out loud. Well these guys do here.....
7:26 My boy bestie has been simping over SG girls (we once simped over one tgt) 'cause, IDK why, but they're model material. Maybe y'all are so used to seeing pretty girls that they look average to y'all. But I haven't seen a single ugly girl living in SG. The "ugliest" I've seen was still above average. Or maybe I'm just too used to seeing myself in the mirror that even the average looking person looks like a goddess to me, IDK. But I'll take it from my bestie who simps on a daily basis.
Leaving a bike unchained? Yeah sure. My ex-colleague 'choped' a table in Newton with his iPhone and wallet while he went to get his food. When he came back, his spot was taken. Along with his wallet and phone.
Having lived in sg for 6 years, there's so much I took for granted, then moved back to New York and regretted leaving sg in the first place. Quality of life is better than U.S. and so much safer. I miss how clean it is and the local food and hearing singlish all the time. If only I could get my PR back. And just for the record, I didn't earn a huge salary by any means, but still managed to live so much better than in U.S.
@@PokhrajRoy. No offense, but just a suggestion: Maybe you can summarize your thoughts into one comment, would save you time instead of having to type multiple separate comments
I had my purse with all my ID and gift money from my uncle on Orchard Road. Specifically, I put it on a pay phone and forgot and when I went back it was gone. First visit to a singpore police station to report and never saw it again. Kicked myself and was also so mad at the supposedly honest Singaporean culture at the time. Moral of story - like Yeolo said - using your purse on a table reservation - living life on the edge coz it does happen.
There are alot of foreigners in SG & only foreigners will use public phone. Your stuff most likely taken by another foreigners using the phone after you....SG not as safe now & crime rates has gone higher compared to 20yrs back when foreigners are much much lesser..
The title should be changed to “The Truth About Singapore Caucasian Expat Life”. Cause none of the videos are showing other races expats where the bulk of the expats here are Asians. Anyway, nice video, YEOLO ☺️
Coming from a culture (🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬) where you give your children names that will sort of speak life and "determine" a positive future for them... that lady naming her hypothetical child, those names were definitely a culture shock.... I also think she's putting a curse on her poor child. Setting that unborn fetus up for failure. Child never stood a chance. Smh 😭
Sorry hor my bicycle got stolen in the center of Toa Payoh. I didn’t lock it properly, lo and behold, when I finished work, my bike went missing. Btw it is stolen at the high human traffic area.
Lol about the expat guy dating Singaporean or SE Asian girls exclusively… I remembered the terms the HKers and mainland Chinese friends used on those types of expats - they called them sexpats.
8:05 I’ve seen a documentary on the London Underground. Trust me, it’s very unique to see it. Only when they repair escalators is there any made at cleaning.
Regarding the leaving the shoes in front of your house or flat: you are mostly not allowed to leave them out in the hallway bc it’s a common area you share with other people and you don’t rent the small space in front of your door. That’s why you are not allowed to place a shoe rack and pairs of shoes there. I know that there were court cases regarding this issue in Germany. So it’s not always about sb stealing things. Nevertheless I have seen people leave their shoes in front of their door
I think what the Singapore,Singapore comment was valid , because I am assuming the dude was from the US and there is a Singapore in Michigan. Go google it.

I can't use the phase expats. End of the day we are foreigners to the soli. Regardless of wealth & creed.
I’m sorry, pissed on?
"Kaya" can also mean rich. So okay lah 🤣🤣
Better than kayu (wood)
I think Kaya is better than Laksa for naming wise, at least it means rich 😂

In America you have to pay to use a trolley in the airport. Yeah it’s not that common from their perspective.
Imagine if your whole thing was eating McFlurry. I’d love to try that out.
6:30 giving me flashback to Bukit Batok, Singapore
Me: Yeolo is such a pleasant looking chap, I could just watch him for hours!
Yeolo: Hello, SG Secure?
Hahaha. 😂🤣
Saw some videos about those luggage carts and it seems some airports in other countries rent out the carts rather than providing them for free
those trolley in some countries like USA are not free to use and need to rent
