The 50s and 60s were truly the era of great music, filled with classic rock and roll and Motown hits. Today's music just doesn't compare-if only we could go back to those good old days!
Definitely! The '50s and '60s were a golden era of music with timeless classics. While today's music has its moments, those decades hold a special place in our hearts!
The ‘50s had such a unique sound, and it’s amazing to see these forgotten groups getting some well-deserved recognition. Their music truly captures the spirit of the time, and it’s a reminder of just how rich and diverse that era was. Thank you for bringing these hidden gems back to life!
So good to hear this from someone who appears so young (compared to me). I grew up with music older than my years like Georgia White's 'Was I Drunk, Was He Handsome and did Mawmaw gimme me hell' (from the days when a statement was posed as a question) and Margaret Young's double entendra 'Stingo Stungo' not to mention Fats Waller s Your Feet s Too Big', and 'You run your mouth, I'll run my business' and many more. -and lest we forget Bessie Smith 'The Empress of the Blues'. I've discovered so much with UA-cam!
None of these groups are forgotten doowop shows are all over FM am and the Internet alot of young kids I run into love it I'm in my fifties my wife is 49 we love it
there were none as great as the Coassters....Poison Ivey, Charlie Brown, Along Came Jones and others were so great in those days..they lifted us kids up
Thank you for mentioning these groups that many 50's born people don't even know...that is suprising to me that they don't. Some others would be the Cadillacs, Imperials, Heartbeats, Dells, Huey Smith & Clowns, Dubs, Flamingos, Lee Andrews & Hearts, and many more. Maybe you'd be kind enough to do another "forgotten groups" for us.
This video brings back so many memories of the golden days of music! The ‘50s had so many incredible groups that deserve more love today. I’m curious-does anyone else have a favorite group from this list that you think should be remembered more? It’s amazing to see the impact they had, even if they’ve faded from the spotlight.
Glad the video brought back those golden memories! It’s amazing how their influence still resonates! Any favorite group from that era you think deserves more love?
These are the top acts of the 50s not forgotten acts. If you want to hear the real forgotten acts look for the "group" sound of doo wop and non-rock pop. Those are the real forgotten acts of the 50s.
The first pictue shown as the Penquins was actually the Temptations. This happens a lot. Also again at 5:26, not the Penquins, but once again the Temptations
The picture of the "Penguins" is actually the Temptations. The stupid people that made this video think that WE'RE too stupid to know the difference! At 4:56, from left to right are Paul Williams, David Ruffin, Otis Williams, Milton Franklin and Eddie Kendricks.
Music, like art, has a way of sparking ideas in unexpected places. Even if it’s more symbolic than factual, it’s fun to imagine how these cultural touchstones might have influenced one another! 🚀
Comments from the 'younger Generation' are at times somewhat Naive. The facts are: By 1960 "Hard Rock" took a 'nose dive' and genuine Rock n Roll was sanatised in America, and replaced with the bubblegum Pop, of the Bobbys Frankies and Fabian types. It was the British- what were called back then- 'Beat Groups'; Johnnie Kid &- the Pirates, The Beatles, the Stones,.The Who.and others, that actually Revived RnR/RnB. And, brought it back to America in what disgruntled Yanks call the 'British Invasion'. Over the passing Years, the Rolling Stones have been referred to by Rock Music Pundits as the greatest 'Rock and Roll' Band. ( love Elvis❤ However; Elvis went into the Army sing "Hard Rock" and energed singing Operetta. Was 'middle of the Road' stuff.. Untill the 1968 Special, brought Elvis-- like Joe, Joe-- "..back to where he once belonged.." So there you go now. 😉❤
No, the lead singer for the Penguins was Cleveland Duncan, who did not join the Temptations. You're probably thinking of David Ruffin or Dennis Edwards, both famous lead singers of the Temptations in the '60s and '70s. They had different styles and backgrounds, and there wasn't any crossover between the two groups, though both groups made a huge impact on doo-wop and Motown music!
Good video, I’ve given it a like but one thing I do think is a shame is that The Spiders didn’t get a mention considering you used their “the spiders Doo wop classics” album cover picture for your thumbnail.
You’re right, The Spiders definitely deserve a mention, especially with that classic album cover. We'll make sure to include more about them in future videos. Stay tuned for more on those forgotten groups! Thank you

Lots of great groups there. But you can't forget that Canadian band, The Beaumarks with such hits as Clap Your Hands and Billy Billy Went A Walkin'. And what about Dion and the Belmonts with their great R&B sound. This video just shows up today's music to be nothing garbage by comparison.
@@Whoremembersusa Yes, For instance I see lots of advertising for Taylor Swift concerts on the TV news. But they never play any part of any of her songs and I couldn't tell you the names of any of them.
Haha! It sure feels like that sometimes, doesn’t it? Lefties always seem to bring that extra flair, maybe because they had to rework everything to make it their own!
@Whoremembersusa yes but I think this is the images just I reverse .I don't think they are all lefties ...look at the everly brothers pick. Some left some right

@@Whoremembersusa I don't remember if you mentioned it, but Hank Ballard wrote and released "The Twist" a year before Chubby Checker. By then they were known as Hank Ballard and the Midhtnighters

I appreciate your feedback! I understand how hearing snippets of their music could enhance the experience, especially for lesser-known bands. I’ll keep that in mind for future presentations. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

The Everly Brothers were internationally popular and had big chart hits way before Warner Bros.

What about Vito and the Elegants? Their #1 hit “Little Star” influenced and inspired Gene Roddenberry to create the popular tv show STAR TREK!

the 'music business' of today is just business, no music and they've even said so.
It's a far cry from the days when music was more about expression and connecting with fans on a deeper level :)
