This is hilarious. I play chess with my three year old. He saw me playing with my older children and now he's the only one who'll play me. He keeps insisting and it's kind of annoying but cute.
He always plays white and his first move is usually h3. Then he asks me how he can take my pieces. Sometimes he gets moves right, and I'm thrilled when he does.

We moved to Australia when he was 7 and he lost the ability to speak German and Dutch. He lost interest in chess and would likely fail to reach a 1000 rating. Kids are amazing in their first years. The kid is undoubtedly exceptional! The first puzzle was actually fairly simple, and I saw the solution at the first glance. The second puzzle was more challenging and quite interesting, but it was still solvable, as there was nothing else to do if the back-rank mate was to be avoided. But the third puzzle-oh, my God! I failed to recognize the solution to that problem because, contrary to conventional wisdom that having only a king + a knight or a bishop is not enough to mate the opponent's king, I had not even considered the idea that one of the two figures should have to be sacrificed.

    • @36AccountsBlockedRIP

This is Russian TV so I'd be skeptical. The kid must have seen something similar to the third puzzle before and had an idea what to do. If he had done that third puzzle out of the blue at that age, surely he'd be 2000 by now without even trying hard.
