Half of me wants to hear them redo this song but this version is so perfect i dont want them to change any of it
i feel like it would be ruined
im not sure if im correct on this, but bc of my own experiences i like to think that the lyric "highschool is over and I've wasted too much time making sentences with words just because they rhyme" is about hanging out with people that arent really the right company for you, you don't even really consider them friends (maybe not anymore or you never even did) but theyre just... there i guess? and there's no appearent reason you like or dislike their company, being around them doesnt really make you happy or sad and the things you do together just dont mean too much
I'd say that it's a metaphor for that, as someone who has been writing poetry for a long time, that line is pretty relatable. Could also be about making your art more acceptable to others by not being too personal/ "deep"
