When a fisherman collapses in agony, appendicitis is diagnosed but Finlay detects an unexpected blood disorder complication. It needs specialised treatment but the sister at the cottage hospital is on the verge of a nervous breakdown and stands in his path.
Wonderful to see this programme again after all these years. "Arden Hoose" is a part of my childhood!
I remember this series from many years ago, I enjoyed it so much, I am now in South Africa and the Scottish accent brings back happy memories 🇯🇪🏴
❤
I'm born in SA (67) to a darling Scottish Ma and Irish Da. Now near MacLean, Scottish town, NSW, Australia. The accents, stories and music are a delight all over the world 😂.
This was compulsory viewing in our house. Missing an episode was a catastrophe!! Brings back many childhood memories. Way ahead of its time. Thank you so much.🏴🇳🇿
Mine too.
This was such a great programme! Thank you so much.
How wonderful. A series I watched when young. Thank you.
Oh, me too! It was really something ;)
Excellent series thank you
Thank you very, very, very much.❤
My absolute favourite. ❤
You're welcome 😊
Me again! It's really good of you to put the date of initial broadcasting - it makes for a true representation of times gone by. I think Dr. Finlay was my own true love when I was 14
😊😊😊
We must be about the same age; I loved him, too. I'm not ''phishing'', so don't tell me your age ;)
Thanks so much. Took me back to my childhood 🏴🇨🇦
🎉 Very Grateful for the Upload of this 1950-60's TV series, as I have never seen, heard or known of it before you sharing it via Your UA-cam channel 🎉

Thank you.
I remember my mother loved this programme and I'm loving it now. Thank you
Glad you like them, I'll have to upload some more .
Sister was so ill and hateful .. She seemed like she really didn't care about what the Dr had to say about his patience, and she seemed like she owned the hospital.. She is just not a friendly sister.. I wouldn't want her to take care of me if she was a real nurse and a sister.. I would rather be home than around her.. She would make you feel sicker..
Thank you ! I' ve watched all the TV episodes. This is a new one for me.
Thank you, thank you for sharing, what a wonderful Episode of a gey excellent Series - Actors at the pinnacle of their Craft.
Why are there so few episodes of this series left, it went on for years .
fond memories of this old tv show from when I was younger. Ironically, Bill Simpson who played Dr Finlay had heart disease and died at the same age as Sister McKay in this episode
Excellent! When I saw A. J. Cronin's name, I knew it would be!
great to see this - a favourite programme when I was young; and what a fine performance from Sonia Dresdel as Sister McKay, she was a wonderful actress.
I remember this as a kid The good old days!
Used to love Dr Finlay and always remember the children whose skin went orange and Dr Finlay diagnosed too many carrots and he was right as usual.
If you enjoyed this, do try reading some of AJ Cronin’s Novels. He was a superb author.
It's always later than you think.
She should have known she was way past the age of menopause
We had Sisters like that when I trained. Horrible old spinsters.
You got nothing from the story then ? 😅
What a depressing bunch of people, thank God we've left that sordid past behind us.
@joehurst not just television, life is in colour now
Sordid people? What are you on about?
@@BillyBoy1235 He doesn't get out much does he?
@ He needs a couple of wee drams and a nice porridge sandwich to keep out the cold.🇦🇺
You have plans for the autumn days of your life but they easily can be destroyed and it is winter far too soon.
I remember my parents watching this in Australia in the 1960s and always having a laugh to myself whenever the name, as I thought it was pronounced,Dr Snotty was mentioned
These people look so old. Janet was supposed to be 41 and that nurse looks way past menopause. Like her 70s!
👍👍
Ahh Janet put the kettle on hen.🏴🏴
That "sister" was quite the witch, wasn't she? Self-medicating, too, right? Is it just for "dramatic effect", but it seems that so many people in these stories are combatively testy and even downright nasty to doctors and police officers??
Scots! That is why IMHO I went to University in Scotland 1960s . But this was set in the 1920s by Cronin which is why the treatments seemed so bizarre .
🎉 Very Grateful for the Upload of this 1970's TV series, as I have never seen, heard or known of it before you sharing it via Your UA-cam channel 🎉
