Guy looked so calm at those free throws. Like he’s taken 3 free throws to send his team to the National Championship 100000 times
He was grinning like he knew he what he was about to do... im no Virginia fan, but that was cooooold

My dad passed away a year ago. One of the last few games we watched while he battled cancer was this one. He was a university of Richmond grad but we both loved seeing Virginia schools win. God bless!
That’s amazing I’ll always remember watching these games with my dad, one of my favorite memories. I’m really sorry to hear about your dad. That struck a chord with me. Love our Dads!

I grew up in Williamsburg but went to VCU. So proud of UVA but. That foul??!! Not sure about that.
@brettscott8288 Fortunately, the official was. Ironically, the guy who fouled him was a VCU transfer!
I find it interesting that 41 seconds left of the game took 11 minutes... Ish 😂😂

Sometimes longer.
Tough to lose on a big foul call
Why... Do u not watch sports...lol
@@jasonprice4707 no I do watch sports, I've just never seen that happen before
It was the best feeling in the world to see him hit those free throws 🎉😅
I'm nearly 60 and have watched tens of thousands of hours of all sports. I have seen hundreds of incredible moments. But Virginia's redemption is the greatest "moment" ever in sports for me. And the miracles against Purdue and Auburn made the ride even better.
Well put! As a UVA alum and huge college bball fan, after our UMBC loss and knowing that every tournament for the next 50+ years or until it happens again, UVA’s loss as a 1 sees vs a 16 seed would be mentioned, I said to myself, the only way for us to not be mocked for all eternity, is to win it all next year. And then it happened. And, as you say, in a monumentally spectacular fashion. I was there. It was incredible. Best sporting experience of my life. Only other sports thing I’d really like to see is for the USMNT to win the World Cup. If that happens, I could die a sports contented man. Wahoowa!

Auburn's coach sweated more than Guy did.
Thank you im not him but i am auburn fan
Exactly!!
Me too, and I was at home on my couch!
That Kyle Guy was Mr. Cool
Coach: DO ANYTHING BUT FOUL!
Player: ok
Also the player: *fouls on a three*
@Rahkz they missed the foul before the double then auburn wouldn't have a chance to win
Check Auburns last shot too, literally the play before "the shooter must be able to land" and they miss that call
@@RhYzEm4 No. You clearly don't understand the rule. It's a foul on the defender if he leaves his feet, jumping, and lands in a different spot from where he jumps. The UVA player who defended Brown, De'Andre Hunter remained stationary and did not jump at all. After Brown released the shot and as he came down, Brown's momentum carried him forwards, so Hunter, being well-coached, actually walked backwards and did not make contact with Brown. Brown fell on his own accord because he had been spinning towards the basket as he caught the pass.
10:14 legend has it that lady is still shaking her head to this day
Loool
@Rahkz fury tampered with his gloves, amirite?
That Kyle Guy is COLD BLOODED 🥶
Takes intense work to get there. A highly emotional and good-hearted 'kid', he stepped up to the challenge BIG TIME. Wish him all the best - NBA can use someone like him - as long as he does not change to suit the NBA
Ice in his veins
He made 1 3 literally the whole game and that was it. UVA only won cause of terrible calls.

Lol it helps when the clock doesnt start and then they readjust the time after an off the ball foul where tye clock never started yet it goes from 6.3 to 7.5 even though the clpck wasnt running. Lol.... The clock never started when auburn inbounded the ball with 18.5 seconds left also. If either one of these happened virginia would have lost. They didn't win that game they were given it.
@@johnakins4199 weep
@@johnakins4199 auburn fan?
I have no bias between either team, that last call was correct. There have been too many tweaked ankles from shooters landing on defenders toes, that's why that is a foul in the rule book.
I am a certificed referee and i can tell you that is clearly a foul. Jumped into Guy and undercut him while he was shooting.
Missed a double dribble. Should be Auburn ball with 2.5 left. The entire country saw Auburn cheated on live TV. Every single one of the announcers including the rules analyst that they "missed" an easy double dribble call.
@@russianrunescapebot7067 Wasn't the whistle before the double dribble
Munk no the call came after he lost the ball and went around the defender and he then grabbed his Jersey bc they had a foul to give. But call should of been made and everything after that would of never happened bc automatically Auburn gets the ball back with about 3 seconds on the clock.
@@FJTabb In the replay I hear a whistle before he picked it back up
What a brutal finish for Auburn, Pearl's anguish was palpable.

Being a former basketball referee from Kentucky, definitely a foul on Guy. Incredible game from 2 great teams. Thx for letting us remember that incredible evening of college hoops during these covid times!😎
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching.
Everytime I see Auburn's coach I think of phil swift
If that’s the LSU coach me too😂
kyle guy lined up final shot perfectly, squared up and balanced,,good lift,,,ball fell short on front of rim only because he was pushed back slightly at release point,,,shot would have dropped like identical shot 7 seconds earlier,,similar shot
I agree. The shot just barely missed.
Marmo Carr you are right
That may have been a double dribble, but there's no denying the clutchness of Kyle Guy.
And not even the announcers caught they're usually the first to catch missed calls. Not noticed till game was over. The only fans crying are Auburn fans even though they got a missed call against Purdue
Nathaniel Jones auburn didn’t even play virginia
Nathaniel Jones Tennessee played Purdue! Whiverson Plays you meant to say Auburn didn't play Purdue!
Jerome double-dribble, Auburn ball. Guy doesn't get to shoot.
@Jaime de Espana Except for the foul before the double dribble. And double dribbles are definitely subject to interpretation....which is why there are officials there to interprete what went on on the court
Clear contact, clear foul. Guy was LEGEND.
well said. does not matter if its the first play of the game or last, that is a foul and contact 100% of the time. Guy is the Cav you want on the line
when it matters most. Mr Indiana for a reason!
Wonderful to watch again. I will never get tired of this.
what your team getting bailed out by the refs
I'll forever HATE this ending. Auburn had this game and they gave it away 😔

Guy, ice cold killer free throws!
The free throws at the end. One dribble and shot, very natural without any kind of ritual, like you do it on the playground or while just shooting around.
Harper missed a BIG free throw with 7.4 seconds left (after making 18 in a row) that would of changed everything...
harper was getting cocky thats why

Announcers ginxe everyone
Exact same thing I keep saying, we lost a 10 point lead and they still gave us the game back

Tony Bennett’s interviews are amazing! he did one with us and it was so good!
It’s crazy how free throws can make or break a game. If Virgina would have missed one they would have went in overtime. If Auburn knocked down their second they could have still went in overtime. Gotta love March Madness!
watching this again because so far there are no games in 2020 and reliving these moments is great for Cavs fans.
This March Madness never fails to entertain.
nothing to be ashamed of sir Charles, sometimes that's how the game rolls! Great game Virginia you guys deserved it !
That second intentional foul at half court cost them the game. It would have been a desperate heave at the buzzer
I don't agree with that assessment. I think he threw the ball up expecting a foul and trying to get a continuation call.
There was still about 1.5 seconds left on the clock at the time he threw the ball up.
The refs didnt see the double dribble tho
@@CMCut:No one is denying that.
What about the double dibble of the ankle?
Scott Bieber I also agree that second foul did cost them the game. Auburn hurt themselves by fouling , even after when Jerome appeared to double dribble that no one saw when it actually happen. Sometimes by fouling that strategy can work against you. Virginia just played to the end of the game!
What Tony Bennett has done with this program is nothing short of amazing. He puts the student first in student/athlete. Not only a great coach on the court but just today turned down a raise for himself to give more money to his assistants but also gave $500,000 to an endowment for players to prepare for careers outside of basketball after graduation. We're proud to have him as not just a basketball coach but as a leader for our community and a role model for all of us.
Miss that double dribble call but it was the right call on the foul you got to give the shooter a chance to land unimpeded
Very true
There was a foul right before Jerome double dribbled the ball. You can’t grab the offensive players jersey or hand
Double dribble would definitely costed Virginia, if it was correctly called.
@@jifa17 No. Jerome's jersey was grabbed immediately BEFORE the double-dribble... the refs did not call that intentional foul. If they had, the double-dribble wouldn't have even happened. Complain about the officiating, but it goes both ways, so it's not really a valid argument as to why UVA won.
He was fouled during the shot while he was still in the air.
UnbelieVAble finishes in each Sweet 16 game leading up to our 1st NCAA Basketball Championship!!! 5 points in the final :08 seconds to win this nail biter!
that KYLE GUY is a dangerous 3 point shooter
What a soul crushing loss. Ugh... I don’t even have a horse in the race but it still makes me nauseas to think how Auburn must feel.
MC MLee I’m at time stamp 4:36 and you just spoiled it for me. But I see what you mean. Auburn must’ve felt devastated when they lost. They had an advantage but they lost it. If those people were me, I would literally cry.
they deserved to win
Imagine if the last turn around shot hit. That would truly make it the best ending in basketball history
Na na na 👎🏻👎🏻
In college maybe
Virginia coach was a genius.👍
Auburn escaped a loss in the first round oddly enough in the same situation. Up by 2, committing a foul on a 3 attempt. Except New Mexico missed 2 of 3 FTs for the loss. Wild how Virginia won by making all 3 FTs in the Final Four.
fascinating fact, really
Go Hoos! Just imagine how much more fun it would be with the Pep Band and Easters Weekend!
Good win by uva, that coach for auburn is a great coach though. Just Virginia's year
Considering how man guys have crumbled at the line with the game on the line. Guy hit all free throws. On that alone Uva deserve the win.
yeah you mean 4 seconds ago the auburn player who hit 18 straight and missed 1of 2
Considering how many missed calls there were in 48 seconds auburn should have won
Also if the NCAA had any sense they would adopt the Nba away from play foul which then would have sent Jared to the line for free throws and the ball not only free throws bc uva fouled in before the inbound
I mean the third pick in the draft, RJ, choked hardddd against Michigan State. So what Guy did was really impressive
Who’s here afterVirginia beat Texas tech.... man what a tournament !!!

@Karl Harrelson and that's exactly why blame or credit should never be placed on one particular man win or lose! U win when everyone contributes! EVERYONE!

That double dribble
I used to make 20 straight free throws at practice, but i've had times late in games where i'd occasionally short-arm them and miss cause alk eyes are on you. Guy had sooo much pressure, that is impressive
I never played beyond high school. I can't begin to imagine the pressure on that stage.
Best Final Four in decades...
what did you say?
After losing to a 16 seed as #1, what a redemption
I'm not a fan of either team, but that whole video made my palms sweaty.
Thanks to the comments here, I went back to see the double dribble again for myself. Jerome, grabbed BY the hand by the defender pre-double dribble. One caused the other. Two calls "missed" in a frantic boom-boom play at the end of the game. History wasn't really impacted as they cancel each other out. Va. still gets the ball out of bounds, etc.
6:22 Isn’t that an uncalled double dribble? The defender never touched it. He should have only been able to pick it up and pass it.
You may be on to something but remember when Bradley Beal did that he fumbled the ball under the rim dribbled a bit and kicked it out but I also thought the rule was you can only pass or shoot you can’t continue dribbling
YES
Well technically if ya look up close the defender fouled him before he fumbled the ball so
Well technically ur a Virginia fan

that foul was a good call he clearly took out his legs
6:02 double dribble before the foul

That's considered a fumble. Not a violation at all. If inadvertent or not on purpose, you can hold the ball with both hands then dribble again like what he did. Its totally okay. ;)
@Pareng Don
The ball touched the ground. Like a fumble in football. He can pick it up and dribble again. It’s ok 👍
@@ginacoffee8659 just like you said.. "dribble again" that's double dribble.. you know Im right

Man, that's very deflating for Auburn, but that was a clear foul, his hip collide right into the Guy, he overjumped and hit him.
@Connor Rodgers Connor, Samir Doughty the Auburn player is just as much, based on your take, responsible as the official! His mental judgment left him at the worst possible moment! He could have altered Guy's three attempt without fouling and instead went towards him, creating the contact! That's regardless of how much time was left!
Can’t wait to go back to the madness this March
