I remember that view...I had a '70 Chevelle...memories...had to sell her in a bad year...kids gotta eat before speed parts are bought...sad thing is that 6 months later I landed a new contract...I asked the guy I sold her to if we could come to a deal...I sold her for 3500 dollars and he hits me at 10k...I came up to 4500 dollars, that's a thousand dollar profit for doing absolutely nothing...the car wasn't worth any more than that because it was far from complete but nostalgia and fairness let me go to 5k and he stuck at 10k...I said he must have another offer for more money...good enough...shook his hand and said my offer still stands and wished him luck on the deal...I went by there the other day and she was still there...I told him that I would give 2500 to tow her home...it had been sitting in a field and was much worse for the wear...he told me that when the guy who was going to buy her backed out after seeing her up close, he was too embarrassed to call me and accept my offer...so my(his) car sat so long that the frame was damn near rusted into...the interior was 70% gone and my offer went down another 1k and this damn fool hits me at a 5k...I didn't even say goodbye when I climbed in my truck to leave...I don't really care because I am chasing a '65 GTO owned by a friend and negotiations are goig well...who's cuttin' f'n onions in here...bye y'all, chase your dream car and have fun with it...peace....
Man! Looking at the hood seeing the hood pins and cowl induction and hearing that distinct first gear whine combine with the awakening the big bad LS6 was instant time travel!!! Thank you Sir!!
What a life!! Being able to go around the nation looking for these awesome finds and having the knowledge and power to bring these hidden gems to life. Totally jealous Absolutely love your site!!!
Definitely! Even if you had a museum piece, you're almost obliged to let the dragon loose every now and then. I understand they're not making any more of them but I would buy one (if I happened to fall over backwards into a pile of cash) to drive it, not to keep it covered up in my controlled environment vault of a garage.
About 5 decades ago (yes, I am that old!), my HS buddy had an LS6 454 450hp 70 Chevelle with M22 and 331 posi gears. It was an all cast iron 454, with 11.0 to 1 compression and factory aluminum intake manifold and 2 1/4" primarys headers with cut outs just past the collectors. His was Hugger Orange with white stripes and had the F41 suspension package giving it 1 1/8" front sway bar, very stiff front springs, and a 7/8" rear bar under the 12 bolt posi rear end. It sat slightly low in the rear with stock springs, so it would really plant the BFG T/As on stock 8" SS wheels. As I recall from our many excursions, the Cowl Induction flap was always held flush to the hood with a vacuum diaphragm until the vacuum dropped at WOT. At WOT, the Cowl Induction was spring loaded to pop open once the vacuum signal disappeared. It was open when not running, but as soon as that LS6 started (even with it's very low and lopey idle vacuum!), the cowl door closed, and only opened again when the throttle blades on the stock 780 Holley double pumper went past a carb vacuum passage. Once the vacuum signal was lost the Cowl Induction flap would open, giving additional air to that fire breathing 454 Rat Motor! Maybe your vacuum diaphragm is leaking. Sorry, tl,dr. and you were likely already aware. OG from Idaho Love your channel, PGN!
Thanks for sharing, brother! It's amazing what you could order from the factory back then, not just with SS Chevelles but with pretty much any manufacturer, '62 -'72. I'm a little younger than you and your buddy but these cars could still be had in great shape for
I remember hearing that 4 speed gear noise for the first time, and then all hell broke loose being peg in the passenger seat,,,hellyeah 66 chevelle ss L78 4 spd back in the mid 70s 😊
Congratulations on an amazing find. Hope you enjoy it for many years to come. Please do an update after putting back to Tuxedo black .Love your videos. Keep up the great work
The sounds, smells, feel and senses - incredibly different than anything today. My 86 year young Mother could drive a new car fast while sipping coffee. These classic muscle cars,? A different universe for our mind and senses. They required/demanded your attention. Needed you engaged for the ride. Not on phone. Not multitasking. The car needs you 100% engaged. A beautiful thing. Man and machine.
My 64 Chevelle SS wasn't quite a barn find but it was outside a radiator shop in TN. I later found his resto was terrible as I spent $40k restoring it. That was in 2002 and I still have it. One of the nicest 64 Chevelles around. 350 V8, 200'4R. 4wdb, Dakota Digital dash, Billet Spec one belt drive system, Monte Carlo seats, Quiet Ride insulation and sound pkg, Billet Spec Fast Lane rims with Cooper Cobra tires, American Wire kit, Red paint, Red interior, smoked windows, 3 point seatbelts, custom trunk, Eddie Motor Sports polished hood and trunk hinges. Aluminum radiator. MSD Ignition. Many little things too.
No other mass produced muscle car compares to a 1970 LS6 car, I mean nothing. Enough power / torque to rotate the earth. I rode in 2 different (almost new) examples of those when I was a young teenager. Unbelievable. I've owned 18 1970 SS's but could never have enough $$$ to get into an original LS6........ it's an unrequited love
Patrick, that's a awesome 70 SS. But I kept looking for that flapper to closed and ease back open.. And was waiting to hear you bang those gears. Your gear head friend.
Motor sounds beautiful and strong as hell, but back that timing down a few degrees if you arent going to let it scream. This will avoid predetonation & burnt valves.
I'm looking at a '65 Chevelle 2 door wagon, 283 3 tree... serious project. I'd build it with a 327 375FI, 3 tree w overdrive, and leave the patina. Solids over clattery 30 30 Duntov... Does it get any better???

OK. Don't hate me or get mad. I could be wrong, but that windup does not sound like the car has 4.10 (4.11?) gears. Please let me know. Love the car...and the video anyway.
ah the view from inside a 70! nothing against M22s. but id shelve that thing and put the tremec tkx in it. best thing i ever did to my 70 totally worth it! my car is way more fun and the tkx will handle the torque all day every day and you can slam the gears as fast as you can move the shifter!
Sounds great and runs great but that color of stripes on the maroon doesn’t look good at all for my taste! It seems like I remember the video when you found it.
What did you do to the car did you pull the engine and put all new gaskets and front and rear main seal or did you do nothing but clean it up from sitting all them years I would be real surprise if the engine don`t start leaking from the front and rear main seal after sitting for so long I bought a 1971 340 Duster about 10 years ago and it sat for 25 to 30 years and once I started driving it the engine started leaking like crazy so instead of putting rear main seal in a bottle I bought a overhaul kit and pulled the engine and redid every seal and gasket including the valve seals and it still does not leak a drop but it only sits for 6 months tops over the winter and then I drive it every weekend but the thing sitting for a long time drys up the seals and they just leak like crazy.
Great car, not so great test drive. This car needs to be given a bit more rip. What did it get up to during this test? All of 3800 RPM? I'm not saying we need a 100-yard long burnout, but some roll-on thunder would be appreciated. Also find somebody that can shift faster than my grandfather.

Life happens man!
Too bad you couldn't get your old Chevelle back, that's gotta suck, glad I was fortunate enough to hang on to mine
I LOVE the sound of that M22!!👍😎

That's a bad girl right there!!!!! I'm trying to loop this video so I can fall asleep listening to that m22 whine!!!!😮
It would take all the will power I have not to put my foot in it.
Gorgeous car and video.

Great to see the car on the road. Love the sound of that M22!
That M22 rockcrusher with that signature sound amazing.
Music to my ears

My 1st car was a '66 Malibu 327 4-speed. My buddy Dave had to one up me with his '66 SS 396! Beautiful cars.
Congratulations on an amazing find. Hope you enjoy it for many years to come. Please do an update after putting back to Tuxedo black .Love your videos. Keep up the great work
Proof that a good engine just wants to run! Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic view

Love hearing that stone crusher!
That car sounds amazing i love those older chevys
My 1st fix would be the ZL2 flapper. 1970 is my favorite Chevelle.
Looks like it cleaned up nice.
Sweet ride. Thanks for sharing. Sounds awesome!
That u-turn would have went a lot different 40 years ago 😂 😆 🚗 🌪️
Beautiful sunset. It must have the "rock crusher" M22 by the whining sound. Very nice.
Fire it up! Fire it up! Fire it up! I see dog walking girl staring as you drove back bye lol
Best view ever !!, I may be a little biased though 😂
I was yelling HIT It Patrick! 😂💪 But sounds amazing.

Looks like a fun ride - just not long enough...😁
Would of liked to hear you talk as you rode in this king of chevelles. Wish I could of seen more than the hood though👍
Wow so smooth! Reminds me of riding with my dad but he would put the pedal to the metal and rev it for fun and p*ss off my mum 😅
"I'd appreciate it if you slowed down!", haha
👍👍
Street Warrior set up!! Love the M22 whine!! Is that yours Patrick? Beautiful 😍
Sweet sound!
Now this is content.
Beauty! Idle sounds a bit high, but a little tweek here and there will get that girl all sorted out.
Another one for the Nichols stable. Hard work pays off.
Love the videos
M22 transmission, cowl induction hood and 450 hp. It doesn’t get any better.
PGN LOVE HlYOUR VIDEOS!!! You’re the best! Keep up the amazing content!!
Very very nice 🎉

Not near as radical sounding as i thought. BEAUTIFUL sunset in a Beautiful SS !
Nice drive Grandpa, do the secondaries work?, and when will the cowl door work properly?
WHY ARE YOU SO ROUGH….It’s Glen Patrick Nickels….if he chooses to baby a car. HE KNOWS WTF HE IS DOING😂😂😂😂😂
Nice ride

What a tease! After you started out a couple of times, I thought you were about to nail it, but NO!
I'm ready to set up a lifetime payment plan. Just let me know the details. Love the car man !
Thanks for sharing, lets go LS6!

Sounds like an M22 Rock Krusher 2.20 1st gear close ratio. 3.31s??? LS6? L78???
You can hear those straight cut gears!👍
not straight cut. just less angle to lessen the thrust load on the transmission case.
Damn😮
Sounds great and runs great but that color of stripes on the maroon doesn’t look good at all for my taste! It seems like I remember the video when you found it.
I think it came from Pittsburgh IIRC, and the original owner had the stripes redone.
Sounds good to me
Is this the white one that had the trees growing blocking it in that the owner said was not for sale in TN ???

I just noticed title header... LS6
What a sound from that M22. Today all you can buy are stupid automatics. Ugh.
Spotted a lot of ls6 with my 396 they never came back
Yeah, sure you did. LoL
👍🇦🇺
He should have floored because that baby needs some speed in its life.
My first car 😢
We can’t see the car
How can you compare that sound to the whiney sound of even a Porsche? They always sound like they are in pain when accelerating!
1st view...
I so bad wanna see that flapper in action
Time warp
Dance it or, put it back in barn. *
Quieter than I expected
AMERICA!
