The man in the clip Bill English was an imposter that 20/20 interviewed in 1990. Somebody got fired because of that
Lol I had no clue lol guess we'll be doing a video on him one day
@@FascinatingGraveyard he did not fight in ww2 he would be only 11 when started
Great video but yes he was too young for WW2?
@@matthewdegraide2875 i know maybe korean war
The Tubi App got all seasons of it. Talking about revisiting your childhood again.😊
Buckwheat was a favorite. Rest in Peace William.
He had such a sweet smile, and a darling personality.
"Otay" -so damn funny. I totally forgot about that until I heard you say it here.
❤❤ R.i.p Buckweed 💙💙
Buckweed??? Are you high? 🤣🤣🤣
BUCKWHEAT !!!!
😂@@marciawade9101
😂😂@@marciawade9101
I loved "Our Gang" and "Little Rascals" as a kid.
What did they do with all the graves under those new buildings.
I was born in 1957 and I remember the Little Rascals. Buckwheat was one of my favorite, along with Spanky and Alfalfa. Nice Vid!
Buckwheat poked his head out from the bushes asking:
" IS THE COAST CLEAR ??!!!"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was so funny!!!
Thanks Lamont for doing a piece on this American ICON.
I was listening to that one part and I accidentally spit out my Pepsi on my boss by accident.
At least I still have my job.
Buckwheat was beloved, he was adorable and so funny. RIP William.
Stay safe out there, and rock on, Lamont! 💜✌
I like how he says " I'm outta here " Would be good T Shirt merch idea . . .
He was the cutest baby, I wondered why he wore dresses. ❤❤❤❤❤
Uncle this story was ……… OTAY👌🏿
Thank you so much for sharing this story because I really didn't know that he had went to the United States Army
Say Lamont at large you did a really great job on this video great job remembering buck wheat from are game.
Awesome! I’m glad he was able to become a successful adult
Thanks for this. Nice surprise.
Hi lamont, loved our gang,
I liked Buckwheat the cereal abd the character. I watched it as a kid. I think it was a favorite of my uncles, aunts and parents too
❤ Buckwheat hanging next to my father, grandmother, and brother. At Inglewood Cemetary. So cool.
It makes absolutely no since what so ever that William B. Thomas (Buckwheat) could have served in the US Army in World War II if he was born in 1931. His head stone says he was born on Mar 12, 1931. That means when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941. He would have been 10 years old. When the war ended in 1945, he would have then been 14 years old. He did not serve in World War II. William Thomas' actual military service was in the US Army. However, it was from 1954 to 1956 after the Korean War.
Thanks, I didn't know about Buckwheat after Our Gang. At least his death wasn't as ridiculous and as senseless as Carl Schweizer - "Alfalfa." Carl got himself killed over $50.
Ah, if Buckwheat was born in 1931, he would have been only FOURTEEN on VJ Day in 1945.
That cannot be his grave. It says World War 2.
Buck Wheat blossomed to Press Secretary Karean Jean Piere ( Kreem of Wheat )
Thumbs up friend 🇺🇲 🌈
I love Buckwheat. RIP
RIP Buckwheat
Someone made a small error on his epitaph
Otay!
Otay panky 😅 buckwheat was my favorite
World War 2???? He wasn't old enough...you missed that
Bill English wasn't the real Buckwheat?
Why does the head stone have World War II on it ???????????
Eddie Murphy's rendition of buckwheat was awesome The good old Snl 😂
At 01:06, that is NOT Buckwheat.
Hey Lamont!You iz a otay!
RIP William "Buckwheat" Thomas 🙏🙏🙏
Buck Wheat blossomed to Kareem of Wheat
Kareem Jean Piere Joe Biden's press secretary.
Rest in peace to Buckwheat, I never knew he passed away so young. The older I get,,the younger older numbers seem to me.
😯Everybody loves❤the little rascals! Great story, thank you!💯✊👍✌!
I'm reminded that Buckwheat had a revival of sorts when Eddie Murphy played him on SNL back in the early 80s. Thanks for the laughs, William Thomas!
I remember Eddie Murphy doing Buckwheat's Greatest Hits on SNL. The "Bette Davis Eyes" one had me on the floor 😂😂😂
Spanky never liked the portrayal of Buckwheat by that actor.
@@john_from_eastcoast.Spanky McFarland said that he hated Eddie Murphy's portrayal of Buckwheat, making fun of him, because he said that William was a great guy and one of his best friends. He said it hurt him how people made fun of him.
@marciawade9101 Then I guess Spanky McFarland wasn't a big fan of SNL. That's what they do on SNL, they make fun of people. They been doing it for almost 50 years now. This comment isn't attacking you or anything and I hesitate to say I'm attacking Spanky McFarland because he's dead now. But that's what SNL does. It is what it is
@@chrisboyer4194 It's what he said and how he felt about his friend being made fun of.
What the HELL are you talking about???
Thank you for your Service William a.k.a....Buckwheat❤😊
If he was born in 1931 there is no way he served in WW2.
As the narrator said, he served in 1954-56, so he was barely considered a Korean War vet! But, R.I.P. William!
That's the first thing I noticed 😮
@@rongendron8705read the gravestone
I was thinking the same😮
My dad was born in 32 and sure isn't a WW2 vet, not even in the Army of Occupation context😑
He was an adorable little child!! I love watching The Little Rascals. Interesting life! Thank you for sharing!! Stay safe!!❤
Buckwheat was the man ! Loved that show !
Born in 1931 and a WWII veteran? Something is odd here. R.I.P. Buckwheat. I don't think you served during WWII, but you are a veteran.
He was 23 when he went into the military. WWII was over, but he did serve the country in some way. Maybe Vietnam. Maybe stateside.
Lamont mentions it was after Korea.
IKR, His cemetery name plate says WW2.. He would have been 13-14 when WW2 ended. ODD. If he joined in 1954, The Korean War ended in 1953, America started sending troops to Vietnam in March 1965. He still a Veteran either way but who/ why did they put WW2 on his cemetery plot.
@@winniethepoohandeeyore2 Exactly. Thanks.
@@Rayhid1956 Most welcome
Awe he was adorable 😊
💐🙏🏻 RIP William "Billie" Thomas Jr. (March 12, 1931 - October 10, 1980) (aged 49) you will truly be missed and my prayers go out to you and your family. 💐🙏🏻
I didn't know you had a heart attack at 49. May his soul rest in peace❤Rip and also thank you for going out there and thanks your Mom & Dad also at a time when it was hard for people of color.❤❤❤ Thank you thank you thank you my grandma generation 🥰 rest in peace Rip.
RIP William 🙏🌹❤️ you'll always be loved and never forgotten.
The first picture of the adult Buckwheat is not William Thomas its Bill English who lied and said he was the person who played Buckwheat
You are correct.
Loved Little Rascals and Buckwheat was my favorite.
Buckwheat was my stepfather's cousin. I used to love watching the Little Rascals. Thanks for showing the video. It was great.
You do a great job bringing us these videos of celebs graves and their back stories of their lives. The only issue I see in this video, is the still picture at the beginning and the video inserted, was of Bill English who claimed to be the original Buckwheat on an ABC show with either Ted Koppel or Dan Rather. Even George "Spanky" McFarland said it wasn't Bill Thomas on that show. Great info on Bill Thomas and may he continue to Rest Peacefully.
Growing up, I had fond memories of watching the little rascals, loved that show.
I literally was thinking about the original little rascals this morning and where they are buried? This literally made my day. thanks.
Buckwheat was probably one of the best known and talked about member of the Little Rascals RIP BUCKWHEAT
Yes, him & Alfalfa.
Our Gang started in the 20's ( silent era at first). Then in the early 30s, there was Farina, who predates Buckwheat and they went back and forth on the shorts, one minute Farina was a boy ( and was in real life) and for others, Farina was a girl but still played the actor Allen Hoskins( also the highest paid black child of the time, even over his counterparts) As the kids got older they were replaced. Buckwheat replaced Farina.
Interesting
What about Stymie?
And what about
Froggy?
Why does the grave marker say WW2 when he would have only been 14 years old when it ended? He didn't enlist until 1954. Should the grace marker not have displayed Korean War instead? Just curious.
Korean War ended in 1953, Odd they put WW2 on his marker, that would have made him 13-14 when WW2 ended.
I would consider that a serious mistake. I wonder why they never fixed it. He deserves recognition as a vet but not a WWII vet.
@@chrisboyer4194 IKR I even checked Military wiki, They have no idea why it says that.
Im glad im not th only one to notice the mistake on the grave marker, it might be an error with the template they use for veterns. Lamont didn't seem to notice, wakey wakey

PFC William B Thomas aka " Buckwheat "
So many kiddos lives you entertained for many years , May you rest in peace ❤
Thank you for your service Buckwheat 🙏🇺🇲
I grew up in Los Angeles in the 60s and 70s and watched The Little Rascals and Our Gang on UHF Channel 52 out of Orange County. I loved them when I was a kid and still love them today. Buckwheat was always one of my favorites of the group. RIP to William, and thank you for all the memorable entertainment.
This video was O'tay!
I loved Stymie Beard! ❤ He died in January 1981.
He's buried in Evergreen cemetery in Los Angeles California.
He Brought So Much Joy And Laughter To The World. Something We Need So Bad Today.
He was such a handsome little boy. Thanks for the laughs Mr. Thomas ❤
Buckwheat was cute & funny. My favorite character was " Froggy " !
I just watched an interview the other day that he did in 1975 and he was a very quiet, humble and kind person.
I love your content ❤
RIP William " Buckwheat " thank you for your service ❤
It's a dam shame but I was grown in my 30's before I knew Buckwheat was a boy.
I grew up watching reruns on a black and white tv in the late 50's - 60s.
☝🏻
He didn't want to join the military and fight 2 wars...He was already fighting for here in America for civil rights. Thank you very much!
The error is, he was about 10 years old when WW2 started and about 14 when it ended. Regardless, he was a veteran who existed and lived through our countries hardships in those days. Remembered, loved, and admired.
I loved little rascals, I’m glad he had a good life!!! I heard alfalfa was a jerk and got stabbed, I feel like watching little rascals now, I haven’t seen it in so long, thanks for the nostalgia
@@MaarkiMarko lol I remember them showing little rascals in the afternoon, during the week, but not for a long time, I watched soul train on Saturday after cartoons were over, I remember there was an Asian girl with really long hair dancing every week,
@@MaarkiMarko yes that was cool, I don’t remember watching American band stand too much, for some reason

Aww i loved Buckwheat. I used to call my little sister by that name too. Now we are watching this together. Thank you Lamont.❤❤

The black man that's bagging up groceries in the video. That's not buckwheat.

You need to. It was one of the BEST shows ever, with all little kids being mature, smart, intelligent and resourceful.
And FUNNY AS HELL!
For years as a kid, I thought Buckwheat was a girl because of the ribbons in his hair.
Thank you William (Buckwheat). Growing up as a kid in the 1950’s, THE LITTLE RASCALS was one of my favorite TV shows. R.I.P. Lamount ,Thank you for sharing this, and all of your Podcasts.
I loved when he was on the pirate ship and says..."I wants a cutlass, a veal cutlass"...he brought a lot of charm to the show with his smile and pearly white teeth...
I remember that one. It was very funny. My absolute favorite was Romeo and Juliet. “Onions!”
they actually used buckwheat being funny,,racist monarch......it was picking at black people
The little rascals,,, I watched all the time back then !!! A great blast from the past !!!
Several famous people are buried there including Etta James and also Lead Singer of “The Penguins” Cleve Duncan which sang Earth Angel. I’ve visited both of these graves.
Thank you Lamont for sharing Buckwheat’s grave. Very funny show. May he rest in peace!
R.I.P in peace William Thomas, Buckwheat
I love buckwheat from little rascals RIP my friend😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Did you lnow Symie Beard aka Stymie and Allen Hoskins aka Farina are also buried in the same cemetery with Buckwheat. Rest in peace to them all. I hope you get to cover their graves too since you are there
How much was he paid? 😮
Why does his grave say WW2? He was only 14 in 1945??
Rest in peace to William Thomas 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽grew up watching all those reruns. Great video in memory of him. Thank you.
I loved him and frogey these two were my favorites.
Ok I think we all can acknowledge that William's gravemarker is incorrect and it needs to be fixed or replaced. No need to have multiple comments about it. RIP to William Thomas aka Buckwheat 🌹
Maybe because it's something that's obvious 🤷 And we didn't expect a Comment Cop patrolling the comment section 👮♂️🚨🚨🚔
