I'm from the US, and stumbled on to you guys just the other day. I ended up watching for 4 hours until my phone went dead. My gosh Canadians are talented. And relentless workers. If I would have had to work with my ex-wife, for just a few hours. She would have beaten me to a pulp. In my younger days I was a boxer. And made the mistake of showing her how to beat a speed bag. Thank you so much for letting us in your world, incredible videos . I'm now a big fan.
I love the fact that you 2 are not loud, brassy, arrogant or full of yourselves. What a pleasure! Stay plain, ordinary, human, real and keep the vids coming!
Do the two of you ever just step back and look what you have achieved? I have no idea what you personal lives are about but if you were my kids, I would be so damn proud of you both. The two of you are absolutely amazing young adults !! You both are so humble and true to yourselfs, for example, like plainning them boards down, and cutting all the boards for the woodshed by hand and putting screws in by hand, etc. etc. etc. !! Both of you take a bow because you certainly deserve it !! ❤️🙏🦃🦌🐻🍁✌🏼

Thanks Bruce!! Pretty much every day we look at the cabin and think "what an insane idea we had, and we can't believe we actually made it!"
Your video just got far better as people like to hear the both of you talk and explain the thoughts behind the things that you are doing great job on the build . I am a professional carpenter , plummer and electrician , so feal free to ask anything that you want .
Congratulations on your first night at the cabin…that had to be exciting! Glad you decided to stick to your plan and do everything with hand tools….that’s dedication. You two work great together. Wood shed is coming along nicely. Enjoyed the video…thanks for sharing!
Always keep that kettle of water on the stove. Two reasons: You will have hot water handy when you need it; 2. You will add some humidity to the cabin, making the heat more comfortable.
What a winter wonderland with woodshed finished and using some of that rockwool in between the logs its nice and warm in your cabin. Maybe invest in a freshwater cistern in the spring.
Wow!! When you two get busy! You get busy😉😉😉 Didn’t know you had insulated the inside of the cabin already 😊 Cabin is Definitely Broken In😊 Step back and see what you have accomplished: Pricesless💥
Nice job on the woodshed! I’ll bet Nick was happy to clean up that pile of scrap wood, LOL. Love those wide pine boards! That loft floor will look terrific+when it’s done. Nice job.
Enjoy all your videos. Both of your work is impeccable. Smart move using those boards on the building from your property. Served a great purpose. Glad you used the tarp to cover the front porch. Snow is everywhere. So much to clean off even before you get inside the cabin. Bet plaining the boards made a difference too. Thanks for sharing.

I have watched every episode so far. This has been amazing. No power tools. Wonderful job you two. I might have missed it, but are you gonna use solar panels for lighting?
I like the wood shed. The cabin looks great. However, It seems the Meala does most of the construction work and Nick does most of the cleaning and small side jobs. It’s a good thing to have a good helper and the other person does the bulk of the project, team work is the key in all things. Good job Meala, you’re an inspiration to many of us women. Bravo!
... tough job, to plan all these boards by hand - the sporting life! 🤣 Anyway, CONGRATS on having spent the first few nights in the cabin! What a change! I wish you all the best for the further steps and I'll watch them - I'm with you guys! Greetings from Germany from the silver fox, David 😉🦊

Thanks, David! We're really happy to have finally moved in the cabin. Take care :)
To the right of where you were sitting in the loft at floor level I could see daylight through the pink insulation. Just above the red tape and to the right of the tiny boomerang shaped tape
Hi Nick and Maela, I just subscribed to night.!!!! Your cabin is beautiful. I have one concern though. There is no heat or fire shield in back or the side of your wood stove. This is a very important safety feature. So please be safe and take care. Also thank you for sharing😍🥰💕❣️🤗🤗

Thanks Judy! The heat shield is only necessary if the stove is closer than the recommended 16 inches clearance to combustibles.
Hello! I've been following your build from the beginning. As a self builder of cabin, that I've lived in for 7 years, I appreciate and enjoy your vlog. 90% of my build was recycled, or built with timber from the land I live on. Roof materials, nails, stove pipe and 9 joists were the only things that were bought in. From this video, I think you will have two regrets. I think your eaves should be wider & the roof longer, especially to close in the whole area infront of your door (porch/balcony) and the sides, where your steps come up. Your wood shed should be against the cabin. Less building and more insulation (for one bit). My place is great. I planned a lot. I'm probably not going to build another home, but I've learnt, as I've lived in my cabin, that there are parts I would have done differently and better. Isn't hind sight a gift/curse? My build was six months. By myself. You two are such a beautiful team. You will have many winters remenicing about it in the future. Wonderful, and thank you for your absorbing vbideos. Much love from SW Wales (UK).
Should drop on over to the UA-cam channel Outdoors With the Morgans and look into possibly purchasing their Fire Starter packages they are processing and selling!! Really good product they are selling
I was getting worried about you guys. Love watching but you must have been so busy or maybe the weather slowed you down. Anyways love watching you all from Massachusetts. 😍😍😍
firts time visiting your videos , love it you guy are doing a grate job , and a buituful cabin congrats , whats the side of the cabin and where abouts are you looks real nice

Thanks! It's around 12x12, and we're in southern Quebec
You're so fortunate to have water that you don't have to melt from snow
2 роки тому+1
Agreed! We'll maintain that section of our creek open to get around having to melt snow.. We tried that the first couple days and it take so much snow to have just a small amount of water ahaha
The snow ❄️ is beautiful and I bet your first night was kinda cool and satisfying for all your hard work. How are you storing food at the moment? Any idea of the inside temperature in the evening with the stove running? Of course I'm sure you have some warm clothes and bedding?

We just pack in food for around 4 days and store it in a bin. The cabin actually gets pretty hot! We think the wood stove is too big for this tiny cabin haha
It’s 16 inches from the wall, so according to the requirements of the stove, it’s all good! We’ll probably install a back drop anyways, so we can move it at a 45 degree angle :)
Hebrews 13:15-16 King James Version 15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. 16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. GODS BLESSINGS OVER YOU.
God bless. I like watching your videoes. Stay close to God. Jesus is Lord and Saviour, and the ONLY way. He died on the cross for your sins too. Repent, and follow Him. Ask Jesus in to your hearts, so The Holly Spirit can live inside of you (born again). We're living in difficult times, and more difficult they will get. Jesus is always faithfull. He said: I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father, except trough me. Jesus is the door (the way), not A way, but THE way. Ask Him, and He will answear.

It’s all coming along so nicely. It must’ve been a real joy to spend your first nights in your beautiful cabin.
Thank you.

Could that structure just have been a windbreak for hunters or fishermen? You guys have done such a great job. Love all your videos. ❤😊
Beautiful cabin. You are almost finished with the whole project.
Impressive !

Cool cabin👌got inspirated to make a similar sleeping "floor" in our tiny cabin
Nice work guys, happy to see you start to enjoy your cabin :)
Very good my friend, big hug from Brasil
Firewood shed looks great..stay safe…sound…warm
Thanks Norman!
leave a gap between the planks so the water and wet can run off
I have watched every episode so far. This has been amazing. No power tools. Wonderful job you two. I might have missed it, but are you gonna use solar panels for lighting?
You might want to add some what I call snow birds to your roof to prevent the snow from sliding down and taking your gutters off
Beautiful cabin!
I wonder if the wooden structure that you are taking apart had a recreational purpose perhaps, since it is sitting at the creek.
Could be! The maple container threw us off, but someone mentioned it could've been a deer stand and it make sense. But we'll never know for sure.

Amei este canal...os dois são adoraveis❤❤
Don't you think the old shed could have been kind of a bath-house. It is along the stream... Or a washing kettle / bucket place?
nice build...

So, I have to ask. Why did you boil a kettle of water, then take it and set it in the snow? Thx!

Maybe, just maybe, it was Sasquatch sneaking around through the night🤔🤔🤭😉🤗🤗🦌🐻🦃
😂😂 we'll try to catch him on camera for everyone to see
I was getting worried about you guys. Love watching but you must have been so busy or maybe the weather slowed you down. Anyways love watching you all from Massachusetts. 😍😍😍
Thank you :) Take care until next time!
could it be a wash room/bathroom ?
I doubt it.. There's no hole under it and it's pretty far from any living space
firts time visiting your videos , love it you guy are doing a grate job , and a buituful cabin congrats , whats the side of the cabin and where abouts are you looks real nice

@ do you have a Berkey Water Filter yet
Cette vie au plus prés de la nature sauvage sans contraintes particulières c'est leur choix et ils ont raison.
😊
Hsy i send people use snow and boil it to have coffee are tea clean snow
i would invest in solar power so you could use cordless tools
We do have solar power, we just don't want power tools ;)
Where are you’s roughly located at.
Southern Quebec
❤😊❤😊❤
I think it was a deer stand
Could be indeed! That didn't even cross our minds, so thanks for your input :)

stove way too close to the walls... oops...

After my Dad...I could give you lessons about crosscutting with a handsaw...but you probably don't want to hear me.

Sorry wrong couple
Keep the bloody cat and chickens out
What part of the world are you in?
We're in Québec, Canada!
Awesome cabin, you two work good together,
