Great song for someone to remember the bad times during addiction. Back when I was drinking that phrase “maybe you don’t recognize it but this is your home this is where your life lives” hits on so many levels.
Facts.
The beat on this is something else. You don’t even have to hear the lyrics to feel the gut ache this song represents.

I have listened to this song over and over and i haven't got tired of it. This song never gets old.
This song is my early teens-late 20s. Never knew someone could put those in words...but here we are. "Look ma I'm a productive member of society. Get loud when I'm drunk other than that I live quietly"...no newbies, welcome but that's the line that introduced me to Slug and Ant back in 2007...Atmosphere has saved my life countless times
i think my favorite part of this amazing song is the little echo that meows "house" after the hook

Like a creaky door. Adds to the melodrama.
"This is where your life lives" instead of "this is where you live" is such a subtle but powerful difference. It makes it sound more passive, as is the woman is not living her life, she is not the owner of her life because she doesn't take responsibility for it. Besides, just saying "this is where your life lives" makes it sound more dramatic, like "look at the mess you've made", if that makes any sense.

My wife spent minutes in my apartment over two months crashed my car got a dui fled the scene before arrest , had her f boi in the car failed to identify the passenger incriminating me while I was back to school shopping with her mother who was a paralegal I was in jail in a padded cell 48 he later for domestic violence after I flipped a table. My own table. Because she kept blocking my exit, while her mom called 911 to say I was a threat. She took everything but left pictures not of my babies who I spent every day since their birth, they left picture of her family at a dinner table
I lost my kids , and the police had me in a padded cell so I couldn’t exercise my right to council. They fled 130miles away, leaving me without a phone, birth certificate, ebt of which she sold anyways to her co workers for cocaine my family didn’t speak to me until after her dui because she told them I was a drug addict and was crying because I was coming down not because she was sleeping around driving drunk with my kids- Nicholas Adam feiock loving father who is not 51/50 may I have a lawyer please. I haven’t spoken to my children since than.

I’ll never forget when I heard this the first time. It was the first song I ever heard from atmosphere. Feels, dude. I was a sophomore in high school, almost 10 years ago.
Don't get me wrong, I love the newcomers finding this fantastic music that I've enjoyed for so long but I must make a correction. Atmosphere is a "they" not a "he"!! Slug's lyrics and vocals are phenomenal but their wouldn't be Atmosphere without Ant. Give the guy with the beats some credit!

This jam came out shortly after I quite drinking! Kind of helped open my eyes to whom and what I had become.....Good SHIT! Had to revisit this jam after your Last to Say jam dropped. People probably have the same feeling about that one. Keep doing what you do! Dueces!

Damn this song legit changed my life. I remember being a dude lost in the sauce. Waking up hung over still high on some random couch. I mean the hook straight up described my youth fading in and out of reality with strangers. It really gave me an ominous feeling /catalyst need to change into the branch manger for a large bank i am today.

This was one of my favorite songs years ago. I now have 2 wonderful kids and get to see their mother stair from the glass house. Its amazing how many songs of atmosphere relate to my life issues. The same song changes over time it's a beautiful sadness.

A duo that's so consistently good that your can play all of their albums on random without a skip button and stay completely satisfied. When my significant other showed me this song to show me I had a drinking problem it hurt a shit ton. Because of its true. And it kills me. I remember the times when I would cry when he would dumb my beer cans because I just wanted to drink my pain away maybe even die and it wasn’t fair to him. I hope one day I can get completely clean not for him but myself because the stories I hear of what I’ve done when I’m sober scare the fuck out of me and I hate myself more. This song paints alcoholism really good, love Slug for this one 💕

Five years ago? Damn and it's fucked up how many times I've heard this song when it was describing me. I stopped drinking a few months ago cause I'm not trying to die but this song is still fun.
I think you're both onto something. Atmos wouldn't fit the bill on a radio-rap rotation for any longer than they did, but everything they built they built brick by brick, and didn't settle for lowest common denominator. They've always kept true to DIY/punk ethics, but just because Slug doesn't rap about diamonds and ho's doesn't make them any less hip-hop.
Myself, like most Rhymesayers fans, am happy to see Slug rise from the underground without trying to sell out for all its worth; well played

Aaron Gautier-Borrell don't know if you like music like this. I LOVE Atmosphere! The reason I wanted to show you this video though is because it made me think of the Tove Lo's "Habits" video. Hits me the same way. I remember when my life used to be completely controlled by when I was going to drink again. Now when I watch these videos I feel so blessed to not be controlled by alcohol. Now my family doesn't have to see me with a beer bottle in my hand and slurring my words. Thank God I quit drinking when I did because Jackson was too young to have any memories of it. Although since my husband doesn't drink, he would always keep me in check. But still. It was wrong. I remember when Jackson was 3 or 4 years old, just learning how to talk good.(he had a binky in his mouth until 3 years old so it took him a little longer to be able to pronounce words correctly), but back on track! we were going through the grocery store shopping, and as we passed the beer cooler section he looked over at it and pointed and said "that's Mommy beer!" I felt like the lowest piece of crap in the world. Not something I'll ever forget. So yeah, I'm grateful he wasn't old enough to remember my drinking. He only remembers me sober. And I thank God for that everyday!

Alright Atmosphere/Slug idk if you'll actually see this or not but I have a 1 for you. Several years back I was in a car accident. I didn't know it for 4 years but i was having seizures as a result of the accident. If I edit 1 bar "how did I get from the bar to this mattress" if I replace bar with car (driving home from work. Next thing I know. I'm in somebody's bed) this song has been the best way to explain my seizures.

This song has got to be about drinking to the point of blacking out, waking up realizing you were blacked out and feeling the regret of not knowing what happened the night before. before i even watched the video that's the feeling i got from it.. mostly because a good portion of us have probably felt this way from time to time.
Used to wake up all the time wondering how I got from the rave/party/house to my own room. Been nearly a decade since. Still love coming back to the music, and a sick part of me misses that way of life.
