Been a Petty fan since 1966 when I was 5yrs old, so basically as far back as I can remember, so when Lee passed & then Adam, it felt like losing a member of my own family, I mean it hurt. Kyle's Press conference at Charlotte, after Adam's accident, is still to this very day the most painful thing I've ever watched on television, it absolutely broke my heart & still brings a tear to my eyes just thinking of it. God bless Kyle & all the Petty's, just wonderful people 🙏 Btw, Ol' King Richard is a great tune & KP sang the mess outta it, it's been on my Fav's playlist for year's!! #IBleedPettyBlue2 RIP Lee, Adam, Miss Lynda, Maurice, Randy & Miss Patty ✝️🙏
I am 62 years old. I have always been a Richard Petty fan. When Kyle started racing, I was still a Richard fan but I started paying attention to Kyle, so it was natural when Richard retired, that Kyle became my favorite driver....I was supposed to become an Adam Petty fan and for a little while, that was working out... After he died, I remember hearing Richard talk about him. One day Adam said to Richard, "I'm going to be rich someday." Richard said, "You will be." And Adam said, "I need to figure out what to do with my money." Richard said, "I'd say invest in real estate." Adam said, "I don't mean, how do I make more. I mean, how do I help people with it." In my life, I have cried over a celebrity three times... John Wayne, Ronald Reagan, and Adam Petty. Kyle Petty won 8 poles and 8 races.... big deal.... he did something that only one man in racing can lay claim to: like Lee Petty, Kyle Petty became the father of a young man destined to be a king. Don't ask God why Adam Petty died: thank God that Adam Petty lived... because he didn't just show up. Adam Petty made a difference. God, I miss him.

I was about Adam’s age when he died. For me there’s also been only a few celebrity deaths that hit me hard. Chris LeDoux, and Adam Petty.
Great story. The Petty’s are legendary!
Thank you for uploading this!
