I took a class in college called Ancient Athletics and the premise was that ancient Greece held four Olympiads a year (Elis, Corinth, Panathenaic, Nemean). To attend you had to cash in coins for coins issued at the games. Like carnival script. Once accepted at the games in then went into common circulation. Instead of someone having to lose, as Bryce says, someone had to win. The winners of events were entitled to a statue of themself at the game site and a copy for their hometown. They were also paid in decorated vases of olive oil which they could sell. This generated commissions for the art studios.
Love what you are doing Eva! Not only the court stuff but this channel! Huge hugs my friend!❤❤
