Unfortunately once these things change hands, new owners are forced to change practically everything due to modern codes and specifications, often so much so that they lose all heart and recognition of what once was.
There are so few of these places left. One I loved was practically on the state line in Nyack New York, with a vintage Indian Motorcycle sign, sold fresh fruits, vegetables, pies from it's own little side stand from the gas station which had an awning with pumps like this one. They would sometimes be filming scenes there. Woodie Allen did "Purple Rose Of Cairo" nearby in Piermont N.Y. as well. It was so laid back, casually elegant and beautiful before the Real Estate started flipping constantly and all the locals were forced out.
