Iam drinking a Cuba Libre. We cant get the Cuban Rum here so Iam using the Havana Club Anejo from Barcardi. Its supposed to be like the Havana Club Especial.Hope to see you and the discord Lads soon.
Hi Steve! Randomly found your channel the other day, and I love the work you are putting in. Great videos with just the stuff I want to see. Great rum content. Thank you from the States!
Welcome aboard my friend! Just trying to bring a little education and fun to the Entry level Rums. There's soooo much chat about expensive stuff from Rum Reviewers, but no one focuses on the cheaper stuff. So thats the gap i'm going for! If you wanna make more rum friends, come into the discord; stblive.uk/discord Outer bit is totally free!
hi Steve tried your version of a lemon meringue pie last night.... Holy moly absolutely delicious. tasted just like a lemon meringue pie. Rum based drinks and cocktails are my fav also , not tried a whole lot but I'd take a daquari over a manhatten for example every day of the week.
These are great cocktails (and I love the tin can copper cup)! I think a huge factor why they're considerd "easy" is: no stirring or shaking. Put ice in a glass, put ingredients in glass, stir once. Drink! So many great drinks are artificially difficult because someone said the drink has to be stirred 70x or shaken for 15 seconds for absolutely no reason.
Yup, kinda agree. Don't get me wrong, theres some shaken stuff coming up. But there IS a massive reason why we shake for 12-15 seconds. Shaking and Stirring will give you colder and better drinks...with the proper dilution. I'm not about to get geeky about it, but if you don't shake a Daiquiri HARD for 12 seconds, it's a totally different, and poorer, drink. And if people don't find a Daiquiri easy, there's something wrong somewhere...
@@StevetheBarmanUK Of course Daiquiris need shaking. And Rum/Boston sours must be shaken and they even need a dry shake. But many drinks that don't need shaking / stirring are shaken or stirred "just because". I never stir my (Rum) old fashioneds. They have a large ice cube. Dilution happens while sipping.
@@psibiza No offense, mate, but your drinks must be shit if you’re not preparing them properly. If you’re not stirring an old fashioned, you’re drinking booze up top and bitter sugar down below. If you’re not shaking your drinks that have any sort of citrus in them, you’re just getting a flat but-at-the-same-time-confused mess. I really don’t understand why you’re against preparing a drink the way they’re supposed to be prepared, other than, perhaps, laziness
@@eyespy3001 Whatever you say. Sir. The ladies come back the next day, so I think I am not terrible. I am stirring. I have an extra freezer and 2 extra fridges, I shape my own crystal clear ice cubes and balls and collins spears with a machete, a hammer, and a chisel. I just don't give it 100 stirs before I allow myself to start sipping. 5 stirs to combine and 65-95 for dilution. I think many clubs, bars, and pubs stir and shake for the wrong reasons and they're using bad ingredients either because of profit reasons and/or because they don't want to invest in educating their customers and explain to them why they decided to use certain techniques or ingredients. If Bacardi, Havanna Club, and Captain Morgans made all the Rum we need, we wouldn't be watching the videos on this channel, right? I think everybody who's on this channel creates better drinks than most clubs, pubs, and bars - because they seem to care.
Just diving into the Rum world... been a Scotch/Bourbon drinker for 35 years. I have been bored and frustrated with that scene and I'm actually having fun again with Rum. Does Rum hold up well as the bottle goes down? A lot of whiskies go south pretty quickly.
To be honest, I think its probably similar in Rum. However, i don't have vast experience in the expensive Rum arena... as you probably gathered, i focus on Rum under £50 as no one ever focuses on that side of things. You either have the £20 Spiced crew, or the £75/£100+ Rum Reviewers. Now i have a hunch that you may get slight deterioration in the really expensive rums. (i have nothing to base that on, other than a hunch) But from my experience in the under £50 they hold their taste pretty well... and A LOT actually get better with Air in the bottle. (PS...thats coming form someone who really doesn't like Whisky... some Whiskey's aren't too bad, but i really dislike Whisky from say Scotland)
@@StevetheBarmanUK thanks. I'm done spending a lot of money on a bottle of anything. I'm enjoying all the Rum long drinks I've made from watching your channel.
Shame the sodas are so expensive as they sound good but £2 each and £5 postage thats too much for most i would say for 200ml. Need a deal for first time orders maybe so we can try them and see what ones to order a dozen off
As i say in the Video.... you can't expect miracles from New Small Businesses. They're that price becasue they have to be that price! If they're any cheaper they go bust, it's that simple. Every brand starts like that. it took Double Dutch 5 years to get to the point they could shave 50p off a Bottle.
@@StevetheBarmanUK ok! wont build a customer base with that being the only option tho hence the discounted first pack idea. If the product is worth the cost then the recurring orders would make it worth it

Totally with you. Manhattans are like a 4/10. Daqs are 10/10 drinks easily.
