I remember growing up in New York and listening to DJ Scott Blackwell on Hot 103. I would go to my local record store in Queens, called Liberty Records, and buy the records that I heard on the show. I would then go home and try to copy what Scott did. With lots of practice and trial and error, I finally learned how to mix records. I no longer DJ today, but once in awhile I’ll break out those same records and give them a spin. Thank you DJ Scott Blackwell for inspiring me to love music and being creative with my mixes. You are a true legend.
Glen friscia was terrible compared to Scott Blackwell. Franco iemello, Freddie bastone, Roman Ricardo we're all better than Glen but not quite as good as Scott Blackwell.
This was true talent. In today's world, so many have no idea the skill it takes to do this, so just because today's mixers allow you to do this today, you'll have no idea how talented you'd have to be to mix on 4 turntables.
they have an idea of what it takes; they just know better than to actually try it themselves. much easier to assemble a playlist and then let a computer take care of all the "skilled" operations. but yeah, it's actually a lot more rare than you might think for a professional DJ, even now, to be completely unaware of Scott Blackwell or the mixing techniques he singlehandedly pioneered in his day.
Best DJ I have ever heard! A legend!! Wish more of Scott’s 103.5 mixes were available. As a kid I’d stay up on Saturday nights just to hear him play. Nobody did it better.
Scotty set the bar way too high for the rest who came after him. Yes, every dj have a different way of spinning, but Scotty was just on another level. I will concur with a posted comment: the baddest dj on planet earth.
Either this was 87 or you had some early test presses. haha. After Latin Rascals and you stopped broadcasting mixes, it was all downhill. Legend right here!
I was lucky enough to have danced & listened to Scottie Blackwell live @ 4-D!!!!

Scott was the Ishh!, back then!!
Absolutely legendary. The most innovative and creative DJ ever. Period.
There was no other DJ that came close. No other DJ can put on the mixes with 4 turn tables like Scotty Blackwell. Man I miss those times.
Actually don't forget Glen Friscia
