      Depends if you have a chase vehicle to carry all your belongings then something to get about in once you get there, I suppose.
      Oh and if you don't mind spending time in a disease ridden cattle truck while paying multiple times the cost for the experience.
      Its hardly a win for the train, is it?

      I used to drive, a 40 ton articulated truck around Europe, regularly doing 24 hour non stop drives,
      as for "flat out" I did once drove my Scania, 143, 450, at 100 mph, at 40 tons up,
      on a Spanish motorway, near Zaragoza, at 3 am, "fully loaded 40 ton articulated truck racing,
      would be the ultimate motor sport", nowadays, I drive a Mini Cooper Electric,
      (the Scania 143, 450, and the Mini Cooper Electric are the 2, best ever vehicles I've driven),

      @@organickevinlondon @organickevinlondon I thought the Mini-E was quite poor, after driving behind one in the New Galloway forest. It really struggled on damp corners. Must be its high weight.
      I looked at its specs when I got home and found its range was less than I get from my motorbike

    • @organickevinlondon
      @organickevinlondon 3 місяці тому

      @@chrisbarron5861 I take my Mini Cooper Electric for a spin around a forest about 30 miles from my home, at least once per week, and find, it handles far better than my old Mini Cooper ICE, its a bit heavier than its ICE counterpart, BUT, it has a lower centre of gravity, which as you know is a key factor for cornering, its also got as near as possible 50/50 front rear axle weight distribution too, so it really does handle far better than I imagined, and it gets incredibly wet in that forest too, I once drove it around there after some decent snowfall too, seeing lots of abandoned ICE's on the unploughed roads, the only other cars I saw driving around there, were ones from the local 4x4 club,
      As for the manufacturers stated range of 145 miles, I usually get between 120 and 170 miles out of mine, BUT, I am an ex international HGV1 driver, (Scania 143, {that's for 14 point 3 litre engine} 450 {that's its BHP} V8, turbo, with a 16 speed box) that knows a thing or two about driving and I got the Mini Cooper Electric as I'm into the Environment and always owned Minis, 3 Issigonis ones, a BMW petrol and now the Mini Cooper Electric, its range doesn't bother me at all, as I live in London, so virtually everywhere I need to go, is within 50 miles of my home, (its 33 miles to my local forest and 20 miles around it, plus the 33 miles to get back home, makes 86 miles) my local public charging point, about 500 meters from my home, is FREE to use too, so that 86 mile round trip to, around and from my local forest costs me ZERO in fuel, my old Mini Cooper ICE,
      used to cost me, 20 p per mile to fuel, IF I charged my Mini Cooper Electric up at a public charger, I would use a 56 p per kWh one, thjat would cost me 14p per mile, I could charge at home, that would cost me 7p per mile, but hey, only a FOOL charges at home, when yer can charge up for FREE, oh, and its tyres last the same miles than my old Mini Cooper ICE's did too, servicing over 30,000 miles, "120 quid".
      It can easily handle, going outside of its so called comfort zone or range, as I regularly do, London to Lands End and back, "just for the hell of it", at 72 mph, even in mid winter, with the lights, wipers and heater on, I can get a 120 mile range out of it, I usually just do 100 miles, on 70 mph roads, then stop to charge, which takes 30 mins, so on a London to Lands End journey, of about 300 miles, it only takes 1 hour longer, than by driving non stop, so its no skin off my nose at all, on these longer trips, I work out my journey time as 100 miles every 2 hours, (that's 1 and 1/2 hours driving at 72 mph, then 30 mins charging up), so "there you have it" some genuine information about the Mini Cooper Electric, instead of "just assuming stuff about it, because you got stuck behind one on yer motorbike".

    • @organickevinlondon
      @organickevinlondon 3 місяці тому

      @@chrisbarron5861 I take my Mini Cooper Electric for a spin around my local forest at least ONCE per week, and the amount of surface water there, can be incredible, and find it handles far better than the Mini Cooper petrol it replaced, yep its a bit heavier than the petrol version, BUT, its got a lower centre of gravity, plus, virtually 50/50 front rear axle weight distribution, so its far better at cornering than the old Mini Cooper petrol, (getting stuck behind ONE for a few minutes is hardly detailed, real life driving experience of the vehicle, or detailed research at all is it).
      As for its range, I get between 120 and 170 miles of range out of mine, (the manufacturers stated range is 145 miles, which is smack bang between 120 and 170)
      which suits me just fine, as virtually everywhere I need to go on a weekly basis is within 50 miles from my home in London (my local forest is 33 miles away and its a 20 mile drive around it, then another 33 miles to get back home, that's 86 miles in total, so I don't need to charge up on that route), furthermore, my local public EV charging point, 500 meters from my home, is FREE to use, so as long as I do round trips, of less than say 120 miles, all year round, as that 120 mile range is my winter range, "I'm guaranteed FREE road fuel, for that driving", longer journeys are no big deal either, I do London to Lands End and back to London, on a regular basis, "just for the hell of it", as my Mini Cooper Electric, does 4 miles per kWh of battery, at 72 mph, with the lights, wipers and heater on in mid winter, I usually stop to charge it up, after 100 miles, as that makes the journey maths easier to work out, 100 miles @ 4 miles per kWh, means at worst, I've used 25 kWh of electricity, and to charging it up, at a 50 kW charger, will take 30 minutes, so on the about 300 mile trip from London to Lands End, it takes about 1 hour longer, than driving non stop, (which really is nothing to crow about in reality) as I would charge up at the 100 and 200 mile mark, for 30 minutes each time,.

    For the YT channel that has the most wonderful fade out music, your background driving music is SHITE!
    Nostalgia, isn't what it used to be. Geoff, if you were older you wouldn't want to go to X or Y in 1995, it would be 1985. Older still 1975. It's a different telling of the ex American GI story. About the brothels, the whores and the fun that could have been had with and in them in different wars. Your kids will want to do a 2020s road trip. As for anything else, it depends on what you tell them about your brothel experiences! 😇
    I did Hungary, Romania, Yugoslavia and East Berlin 39 years ago. Similar, two and four years later. Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the land corridor through Russia twenty-five years ago. The tales of those who were there ten or fifteen years earlier are always better!

    Why would you take the train to Le Mans? Driving there is the fun of the trip!

    Well you tried too by using the EU govt paid for Toll Roads & Subsidised chargers instead of at least using the A Roads one way which is the roads the locals from france too Portugal use, which would of given a fairer view that EVs arent as great as new infrastructure built for an agenda tried to give!

    The Eurostar's an experience on 2 wheels...watching your bikes, all in a row, swaying from side to side with the movement of the train, isn't good for the nerves!! 😂

    It is still sort of a win for the EVangelists as the Eurostar/TGV are EVs 😜 OTSOT inline-5 engines have way more character than any milk float.
