      This sounds nothing like SA. You don’t get in a bath with a dude the first time you meet him and just let stuff like this happen. Sounds ridiculous. Guy sounds majorly weird, but almost none of this reads like it’s actually SA.

    • @Phoenix00Knight
      @Phoenix00Knight 13 днів тому

      How is it SA when they all consented?
      When you just find yourself at Neil's house
      When you just find yourself in his hot tub
      When you just find yourself in there for the remainder of the time you work for the family
      When you get it up the ** with butter and asked to call homedude "master"
      When you're asked to lick up your own ** (I mean you were asked, not forced)
      When all the accusers "play along".
      When the victims do it in front of Neil's kid without saying "HELL NO" and leaving.
      When you don't say NO after you find out he won't marry you and make you his special woman...
      ...Then you are a s*x slave, unable to get away, according to the facts.
      Are you all starting to see a pattern? Same with Vince McMahon's "victim". Homegirl was 40 years old when she was supposedly victimized.

    I'm not defending him in any way, shape of form. If he's a scumbag, he's a scumbag (personally, I couldn't stomach him prior to any of this). But what I don't get is why the accusers would comply and keep complying, and only now retroactively decide it was an issue. Like the first one, the babysitter. I'm sorry, but she wasn't a naive child that was groomed, didn't know any better, and had no way of escaping. Rather, she was a grown woman, who knew what she was doing, and who opted to stay in the situation, probably due to monetary benefits. If someone hires me as a babysitter and offers me a bath: yeah, I'm out of there momentarily, and I'm not coming back. I'm not sitting in their lap, and I'm not getting back for more baths and fingers and such up my ass.

      If the woman "knew what she was doing," then wouldn't Gaiman (a much older, more experienced guy) also know what he was doing? I could totally see myself, in my impressionable early 20's, being coerced into something I didn't actually want to do because of fear or wanting to be liked. Unfortunately, sexual assault is often muddier and less straightforward than most people think. Most people want a black-and-white, easy to understand situation (i.e. woman getting attacked while on a jog). But the reality is that assault more often occurs within a relationship -- it can even happen within a marriage. It wasn't so long ago that there was no law against marital rape. It was simply assumed that being married constituted continual consent to sex. And for the record, adults absolutely can, and have, been groomed. Think of it as a kind of brain washing.
      Requiring a black-and-white situation before we're willing to call something "assault" is ignores a large portion of the systematic manipulation that can occur within romantic and sexual relationships. Factor into it that someone like Neil Gaiman has way more power, money, and influence than the young, practically homeless girl his family employed, and it becomes even more problematic.
      Even interpreted in the most flattering light, Gaiman had sex with a girl 40 years younger than him within hours of her being employed to be his babysitter. Even without the assault angle, I'd already consider this exceptionally unprofessional and a red flag.

    • @jennifernicole954
      @jennifernicole954 13 днів тому +18

      I should also point out that, if you've read other articles, Gaiman repeatedly ignored her when she asked him not to do something.

    • @sinisasub85
      @sinisasub85 13 днів тому +2

      @@jennifernicole954 Sure, but most of what you're asserting are separate points entirely. If you get there for babysitting, and get a finger up your ass your very first day, AND you keep coming for it, instead of pressing charges or at least cutting contact, provided that you were legally able to consent in the first place & remove yourself from the situation (and she was a legal adult, arguably with no substances forcibly involved to the point of severely impaired judgement, and she was presumably free to go and not keep returning), yeah, sorry, but then it's on you as well, to a degree that's for sure more than 0. I never said adults can't be groomed, or that he wasn't in a position of disproportionate power & responsibility - I simply stated, and to clarify, that she, at that moment, wasn't a child that was been groomed, which would be a different category, for obvious reasons. She had a degree of agency in the situation, and she made a serious of judgements that she later regretted. I don't even dispute the 'moral sleaziness' of it all. Beyond that, I'm not at all interested in going deeper into this rabbit hole of guessing, projecting, or defending someone's mental states, motives, or poor judgements, or past tragic history. There are courts for a reason, assuming that this even qualifies.

    i once got into a youtube spat with neil gaiman...its was concerning the casting of a 'diverse' actress in the role of Pepper in the tv version of Good Omens series 1...
    Pepper in the Good Omens novel is pale skinned, red haired girl and so, in typical fashion, was portrayed by a 'diverse' actress who was neither pale skinned or red haired...
    the reason for my instigating comment was that by changing the look of the actress it changed the dynamic between 'them' and the four horsemen of the apocalypse...the character of Pepper was meant to be a mirror to the female, pale skinned, red haired character of War...
    gaiman said that the actress was the best person for the role...i did some light internet research and found the the 'close 2nd choice' for the role was a young, pale skinned, red haired girl...

      That's what he froze me towards him for good, way before all this.I remember him writing in the introduction to my American Gods edition (my favourite book of his) about how he refused once an offer to make Anansi Boys because they wanted to racebend the Afro-British characters - which as he explained, in addition to all,wouldn't make sense narrative-wise. This was shortly after Avatar the movie came out, and I was happy he had such integrity and respect to his own work. When American Gods got turned into a much-awaited series, it started with butchering to the point of parody one of my favourite parts of the book (about Vikings in America, coincidentally).I couldn't believe he had greenlit this. The more it went on, the more it became clear that the work had been changed in ways that contradicted what had drawn me to it in the first place. I didn't even bother with the Sandman, despite Charles Dance being in it. Overexposure, overpromotion and celebrity had obviously worked at the erstwhile integrity, and this....this is just the proof there wasn't much to begin with.

Let alone getting into the same bathtub with her, let alone rubbing himself against her but she did not say he was physically overpowering her in that moment so she literally could have left the bathtub, and then STAY ON for months afterwards in intimate situations with the man? Shame, the Sandman graphic novels were stories and characters that are important to me. They were a seminal comic book experience when I was growing up. They have as much impact on me as Lord of the Rings did. This will most certainly throw a wrench into Season 2 of Sandman, and, leaves a disgusted feeling when I think of Sandman now. Second, someone doesn’t keep paying huge sums of money and forcing NDA’s again and again if they’ve done nothing wrong
    Third we don’t know the actual situations they were in when they ‘agreed’ to the NDA. A lot of them were pretty young, and given his alleged disregard of safety and consent, signing something and agreeing to cash may have been the only perceived way to get away from him safely in the moment. I’d imagine calm, rational thinking is pretty tricky in those instances.
    Lastly, if the allegations are true, I really don’t have sympathy for him if they took the money and threw him under the bus. I’m sure this is where people might disagree with me, but people who can do this to other people deserve the worst.

      Oh yeah. Just these girls that are again playing the victims. Like they don't have two legs and two feet to just get up and walk away even if they made the first initial bad decision to get in the tub naked? And then keep going back I know. Just a bunch of skanks that are looking for a quick Buck. Not saying that he's right but, we have to stop making these women look like they are such victims. Like when someone asked to come on your face, and you say no and then they do it anyways? What the fuck is that?

Where is step B where she says no, I will not get in your tub? When does she leave before this event ever happens? Not even on Gaiman's side in this, but why does all culpability from Women seems to vanish?
