My Grandparents lived in Anaheim during this flood. My Mother was only 5 then. I grew up hearing stories of the whole family having to go up into their attic to escape the flood waters inside their home! They were later rescued by the Red Cross. Interesting to actually see it on film. Thank you!
I live in the foothills of the San Bernardino mountains. Mouth of the Santa Ana river. And that's where all that water came from. '38' did some major damage to us as well.
For its time this was a master piece. I just did a google drive by and found those same street lights. Didn,t realize OC had this kind of history. Developing and editing film must of taken months. Sending reels of film to some developer, then getting it back in viewable condition, loading up into the projector, set up the screen, turning off the lights, viewing the unedited film, hand editing the clips with scissors tape , typing the cue cards, inserting those clips. My guess is this Father may had asperations of working in the films

My grandma and grandpa's farm was off katella and harbor and I heard so many stories about this. Thanks for posting!
Katella got its name from two girls, named Kate and Ella, who used to walk down the street so much.

Great video. I had heard of the flood but the film really brings it home. Thanks for posting.
