Is The Hobby A Cesspool Of Degenerates? | WhatNot Disaster

- In this episode the Spitballin' team discusses the latest controversy in the hobby, what it's representative of (i.e., the real issue), and how we can learn from it and potentially turn it into a positive. Enjoy!
I am amazed backyard breaks is still in business. I think the major sports leagues should give fanatics a call and apply pressure. The hobby is gambling now but ethics and values must have high standards when children are involved.
Topps/fanatics last year said they were going to go around to card shops and if they were messy or dingy that Topps would cut off allocation. But a breaker making pedophile comments ….nothing. Really seems like some misplaced standards.
Standards? What are standards??
Good call. Pretty inconistent.
@@SpitballinCards Badges? We don't no stinking badges
It’s the sign of the times. Our highest office in this country would probably call it locker room talk. It’s a sad state.
Chris here - couldn't agree more. Sadly
Scottie's comment: "...it's up to the big brands to do something, they just wont."
This is why I have consistently railed against the acceptance that people in the card collecting world have that "hey, they're just there to make money." "Topps is a business doing what it can to make money." "PSA is doing what it can to make money." That attitude is what leads us to this point. It is not in their financial interest for Topps, Panini, or any other of these companies to be decent human beings. And it never will be...unless we are able to organize and make them pay. And we can't do that until we stop believing that "they're a business in it to make money" is the primary thing we should expect from them. We need to expect them to uphold some level of decency. We need to also expect them to respect sports card collecting, which I think they've drifted away from in the pursuit of more money.
The other thing that got us here is not really something we can control, but I feel like something people aren't saying: This is the inevitable result when people say things to be "edgy". BYB (it seems to me, I've only watched like 10 minutes of them) do a lot of kooky and edgy crap to make their content "entertaining". I am not surprised it got to this point. This happens to, I swear, like every group of edgy teenagers. Inevitably someone takes it beyond the pale.
As a dealer, I start getting annoying by "Bro"(aka Frate boy) culture like those backyard guys in this hobby, 8 out 10 times I have very unpleasant experience when I deal with those people
bro culture has ruined sports in general
yeah it can be absolutely brutal
I really appreciate what Phil said stating this is an industry and not a hobby. This has been an industry for people who already have cash/card value before the 2020 jump, gained great value since, or someone new willing to spend cash to achieve value. Very little space for new people and true hobbyists to enter the card "market" with little cash spend. Everything is about cash value, liquidity, and future value; not pure collecting and appreciation for teams/athletes. We need a crash and major philosophical reset and I'm rooting for it.
Phil nailed it at end. So well said. I’m a collector, period. I have zero interest in paying any attention to breakers. Collecting for me is an escape and something I can share with other collectors. While it’s frustrating and disheartening that these scum bag breakers get away with this kind of thing that’s the way it is. Follow the money, that’s all these companies care about.
100%
It’s society that is broken. Profit takes priority over principles. It does make you wonder: Are we becoming a nation (or world) that’s too self-serving to stand up for what’s right? We are in an era where selfishness, short attention spans, and profit-driven decisions dominate. Don’t expect this to change under this administration.
We're seeing it change right now. DOGE!
@@MGAF688way to defend a Nazi 👏 idiot
Chris here - sadly the answer to your question is clearly evident on the nightly news every day for the last few weeks.
I watched one of the BYB breaks last year and decided right away that these guys weren't for me.
chris here - yeah it didnt take long for me either!
One thing we have learned over and over is that accountability gets thrown out the door where money is concerned. Morals dont exist when they become inconvenient.
sadly, this isn't wrong
The only problem with breakers is many don’t care about the Hobby or sports In anyway. They care about money and self. My channel is mainly super good people that love football and love opening product. But when I’m in the big channels (which I rarely do) the chats and attention is a lot more hostile and like fan boy for the breaker not the hobby.
I truthfully believe breaking has ruined the hobby. It’s brought out so many shady degens that don’t even care about the hobby just how much money they can make on it. Breaking has inflated wax prices. Unfortunately topps and fanatics don’t care how lowlife these breakers are (like BYB) because it’s moving more product for them
Chris here - as a singles collector, one benefit i see from breakers is that more cards make it out into the secondary market faster. But it;s hard not to draw a parallel between the rise of breaking and the rise of wax prices and that has seriously hurt the average collector's access to the hobby.
Bottom line when you don't have consequences for your actions the prisoners run the prison. I dont hate on anyone for making their own choice on how they want to enjoy the hobby. However, I do think a line needs to be drawn in the sand on who and how you make those choices. Great episode fellas!
Exactly!
Backyard has been notoriously toxic for YEARS yet Whatnot continues to choose $$$ over values/ethics. Grant tarnished the company he co owns yet their audience is still buying into their breaks and supporting them which is just as concerning imo. Just a big L for the hobby this week
Whatnot told backyard that if Grant didn't sell his share and stay off of the streams they were banning it. Its why he released the half hearted apology and saying he was stepping aside
@kainslance source? This would kind of make sense, if this is in the works. Somebody needs to say something soon tho
The customers as Phil said lose nothing. It's a blessing and the product they have is everywhere.
@@kainslanceWould be cool if that were true. No one is buying into that without proof.
Where did you see this?
I had some sympathy for the employees of BYB, but ive tuned in a bit this week, and no longer feel that way. The breakers are banning anyone who mentions anything related at all. Theyre either backing Grant up, or implicitly doing so by beint quiet. And lets be real. Theyre all Grant clones, its a toxic boys club of the worst type of breakers. Everyone there needs to change.
Its just gross.
Those that were fans of BYB before these comments will be fans of them after. What is worse, this added attention may pull in more like-minded customers.
Ugh! I hate that you;re probably right
Right now Backyard is live on Whatnot and Whstnot has them listed first on their popular breaks thing so yeah, Whatnot is promoting them- right now!
Sheesh
what a shocker lol
Sums up the current state of the industry pretty nicely imo.
sadly
The freedom of choice is why certain things maintain popularity whether it's a Kardashian, Jake Paul, Jack Doherty, Mr. Beast, Hailey "Hawk Tuah" Welch, Bobbi Altoff, or insert any name that has a passionate split audience who follow 'em or hold 'em to the utmost disdain waiting their fall from grace. Unfortunately, it's quite baffling and I guess subjective of who becomes rich and famous or followed popularly.
All we can do as consumers, not just buyers but those who ingest content, is support who we like and ignore (don't add fuel to their fire and engage with them or their fans) those who we don't agree with.
For example, I see a lot of people who criticize Geoff Wilson. I enjoy most of his content other than his continual pitching "What Not" and "Market Movers" grows tiring as a paid commercial (infomercial), but I get it, they're his sponsors. So, I'd continue to watch his Weekly Top 5's and other content.
I don't enjoy watching "Pack Busters" / "Box Breakers" who open cards, it's not for me. Not to name names, but the majority annoy me with their content, so I just ignore 'em. The whole slow card reveal and "Let's Go!" pseudo excitement for me is cringy. I personally don't care to see what other people get, especially when there's a good percentage that's rigged / staged.
I do agree with the hobby becoming a hobby again and not a reseller's paradise focused on investing and flipping. Back in the 1980's sports cards was marketed towards kids and had an affordable price point. It was for the fun and passion. Flash forward to the Y2K generation of the last quarter century and it's mainly grown men who buy cards and the kids are conditioned to relegate cards to a "worthless" status if it isn't of high value. I've seen kids open packs, flip through cards looking for one specific type of card (auto, relic, parallel or numbered) and even ignore base cards of rookies and all-stars, then abandoning the stack like it's trash. It's a horrible environment with the focus mainly on value today. Can or will it change? Maybe if we get kids involved early and have lower price points. Maybe if adults behave better and mentor kids on the fun of a hobby and pursuit of collecting their favorite players, teams or completing base card sets...
What Phil was saying is basically what the hobby is now...mostly degenerate gamblers who want a show. Backyard provides a bro show while also breaking cards. People come for the show, not the cards. The internet is filled with these kinds of people. It's actual hobbyists that are the minority.
Chris here - I hate the possibility that you're right. But I also think you are.
"Nothing changes."
This is the point to take and this is the rule that will unfortunately remain for some time. We learned this hard lesson after December 14, 2012. This is what we are as a society now-and this just comes with the cost. They view this as dog s**t on the sidewalk-don't care enough to clean it up, so they just step over it and move on with their day.
bingo
I've never heard of BYB, I've never downloaded or used Whatnot. I watched the 1 minute clip. Two breakers trying to be funny, describing a horrific hypothetical scenario. They should be punished by the streaming service for violating terms. If Fanatics cuts them off, that would be a bigger statement. Controversies with large scale influencers seem to get brushed aside and they continue to operate as usual. Whether it's ethics (BYB), shill bidding (DDT), card altering (KCC), or straight up scamming (JF), their growth as influencers isn't slowing down. I choose to buy singles and not support breakers, Whatnot or Fanatics, so I'm unaffected by all of this. It does make for interesting and relevant discussion, so thanks guys!
Buying singles, hunting down the card(s) we want - that's the only way to navigate this hobby right now.
For us at least.
Hello everyone, I never leave two comments on anything but it’s nice to see that everyone stands together on this regardless of what we collect,, it would be nice if everyone would come together pick a date in February and the community stand up and not buy into a single break from one day just boy caught it like a protest, just so whatnot, Fanatics and Topps understand where we’re coming from! Someone that has a big social media outlet should post the date and everyone stand together and boycott every format for one single day,, also I may give Topps and us that actually want to purchase a single box of their product, not having to fight with all the breakers lined up all the product,, I miss the days of Being able to log into Topps and be able to buy a box of their product! Sad to say those days are gone! Let’s get this out one day let out voice be heard where not going to stand for this! Everyone collect what brings you happiness and you’ll never go wrong!
Thanks for watching and commenting! This is a great idea! The hobby is big. Bigger than we think. I don't think there's much (if any) crossover between our viewers and IG followers and BYB customers. I could be wrong. But I doubt it.
They should have a firm rating system for breaks (unfortunately). G, PG, ... Mature. Forget for second the vile BYB comments. How about the general barrage of F bombs on most breaks? I'm not a prude, but there are zero fence posts on anything, especially as it relates to children. Apparently guidelines mean nothing. And they aren't enforced.
Disgusted by the comments BYB made. Disgusted again by the lack of any real action/ consequences.
Totally!!!
So my view has been that Grant should have resigned immediately, sold his stake, and they should have converted to an employee owned company. That didnt happen. At this point, BYB needs to go.
agreed!
I’d be elated if I never saw that Ric Flair wannabe from backyard. After he tried to renege on the gold kaboom Trevor Lawrence, I’ve never liked him. He’s a trash piece of the hobby
Can't argue anything here!
With backyard. I've been keeping track of there average sale since the remarks were said. And there average sale is down 40% from a week ago. Even that whatnot banned Grant's personal account, there sales are down. So people are voting with there wallet.
I hope this is true and lasting, but I’m not convinced it will be.
Just try to think like a 19 year old frat boy, that's the demographic they don't care. We are boomers and think with morality.
Chris here - stupid morality! lol
Whatnot emailed me after I opened a case and told me they investigated the claims and took action based on their community guidelines. In other words, they did nothing. This is bs, but ultimately the hobbyist have the power in this situation. Too bad there's so many dirtbags that can't stop gamblilng and will keep using Whatnot.
Gambling is a problem. It's addictive for a reason, and it ruins lives on a daily basis.
@@SpitballinCards I guess I should have clarified that if you still go to backyard breaks after this THEN your're a dirtbag. Hopefully that clears it up.
imagine being 20 grand in debt that youve been hiding from your wife and family, you cant make the mortgage payment and the light bill is 3 months behind. the average addict is going to see the only way out is through hitting that big card in the next break. with all that pressure do you think they have time to be concerned about anything really. they have created a situation for themselves where they no longer feel they even have a choice.
Jeez, this is dark as hell. And probably accurate for some people. But damn.
Did you see UNCUT GEMS?
@SpitballinCards i havent, but I'll check it out. I've been in and out of rehab for the last 25 years, unfortunately its just common behavior. im more a drugs and alcohol guy myself but the secrets definitely overlap. i really do miss cocaine and the 90's, lol
@@forpetesake20 Goddamn, sorry to hear that!
The last thing you said - I've heard this from several people!!
I absolutely dislike the existence of breakers in this hobby but to be fair there decent breakers out there so I don't understand why some people choose to support insufferable breakers like backyard and blez.
That's a great question!
Great video guys. I appreciate all of your perspectives. Keep doing what you're doing.
Thanks for watching!
Jeff here: much appreciated!
I'm definitely not opening any Topps products until they make a public statement.
Even if that statement is 100% behind BYB?
It truly baffles me how they have this rapid fan base and people are so loyal to a breaker that costs them thousands of dollars on breaks to get them hits less than 10(?)% of the time. Like why do you care so much for someone who basically just takes your money lol
Right??? It's like loving your blackjack dealer! Or the roulette spinner. Make it make sense!!!
Great podcast! Yeah.. I think this type of stuff, along with shady breakers, repacked cards, crazy influencers, shady grading, altering cards, the gambling aspect taken to new levels...etc.. just goes to show how card collecting is like the Wild West... Are there any rules or guidelines for people prospering off card collecting?
Chris here - Not really, no.
Yeah... I'm older than you guys (in my fifties).. so I know there's always been shady stuff (counterfeits, card trimming, resealing packs, shady dealers).. but I could navigate the, at times, rough waters. But these current times in card collecting...is a whole other animal.
@@asylum9644 unfortunately, those things are all still around as well!
I actually quit the hobby once this “breaker” world started. It just killed it for me and I believe a lot of others.
Just buy vintage. Breakers usually stay away from vintage
I'm sure you're not alone! But you can access the hobby wiithout getting involved in breaking!
Another great episode! Spot on at the end! Enjoy hobby in your way! I use to buy some singles and break Topps flagship case a year until the prices didn’t make sense anymore. I wish I could but I financially can’t, I enjoy chasing my favorite player(s) cards and try to finds deals to help out as well.
Chris here - Jeff and I have wanted to buy a case for an evening cocktail rip but like you said - the costs just don;t make sense.
There’s definitely a portion of the hobby who won’t see this as an issue. They’ll excuse the comments and they’ll be lined up at BYB table at the national which I’ll put money on that Grant will be in attendance.
And I think it's a bigger portion than we want to admit. Chris here - I just don't get it.
I live in North Florida and I can't even go to local card shows anymore because they are filled with people with these kinds of morals.
I went to a card show a couple of months ago was there maybe an hour walked out of there feeling like I needed a shower.was there to buy and sell could not even get close to a table to many kids with all these high end cards everywhere. sold a Koufax
and Aaron got fleeced on that deal left that place feeling violated
@@rodmcclendon5250 Sorry to hear this. Chris here - I struggle with in person deals and I know Phil has as well. Sometimes the numbers don;t add up but the pressure to get a deal done take over. I constantly remind myself that I can just walk away at any time.
The bottom line is that it's not an altruistic environment we operate in. I would bet Whatnot and Backyard have seen their numbers increase since this controversy began. The hobby is what you make of it.
100%
"I think Pedophilia is bad. What do you think, Jeff?" 😂😂 Good stuff as always guys. I think Phil kind of hit the nail on the head with the whole bifurcation thing. I did one small break in 2021 and moved on. It was never for me. Totally divorced from that 'realm' of the hobby. A question to mull over...while this event is deplorable etc etc...are we possibly enabling/encouraging behavior like this by discussing it ad nauseum afterwards...'giving it oxygen'? The whole 'any publicity is good publicity' concept?
Thanks Will. And yeppp. We were strongly considering leaving the name out of the title.
Chris here - I lol'ed
I’m 3 seconds in and the answer is 100% yes
well, just watch the rest for OUR sake!

Yes, it was very brief and blatantly produced by an AI assistant like ChatGPT. Seals the deal on the guy’s character.
Word of the day: "Bifurcated."
UA-cam ran a whatnot ad on this video 😅
OMG!! 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
No it's a small proportion of the overall hobby that is magnified by social media. Talking about all the great people in the hobby doesn't get clicks, negative titles and opinions do - the hobby is microcosm of society itself, you see this in every space now
Sadly the last thing you said is SPOT ON
I honestly couldn’t even listen to the full clip it was so cringy. Sad people like this are given platforms and have the following they do.
But that’s the world overall. Gotta find the positives and good people. You guys put on good quality content and the hobby appreciates it as an opposite to backyard breaks
Cringy 100%
Jeff here: Really appreciate the comment. Thank you.
My advice. Don't buy any product newer than 2019. You can only break so many vintage packs. Vintage is the way to go
Chris here - I've heard this from several people. I go up to 2020 but really I've been stopping there. And of course, always looking for more Freeman!
hobby shop owners drive toyota camerys, breakers drive lambos. shit done changed, lol
I initially thought all it would take is one juiced repack for the degenerate gamblers to forget about. Sadly, it didn’t even take that much.
You're right!

@@ScottM-lz9wv Padres are honestly just making me sad this off season. You can see at Fanfest that it's hurting Machado as well. Just a brutal situation where ownership is hurting the team.
@ 40 years no rings I’m used to it things could be worse we could still have a payroll around 40 mil but man do I love seeing a sold out Petco in the postseason
Vintage is king!
Do we know for sure Backyard gets an allocation from Topps? If they don’t. I’m not sure Topps has a responsibility to condemn them. If they do have allocation they 100% should condemn them and cut off their allocation.
It blows my mind people that backyard is surviving this. Sadly, it shows how degenerate a segment of society is. I would never do business with a company like that.
I do agree that the “hobby” is really segmented. And the people buying into breaks constantly probably aren’t watching channels like this and aren’t part of the collector base.
Ryan, the last part of your comment is absolutely the case. Whatnot is Vegas for cards. People paying for the thrill, the experience and certainly not for any cards of value.
Yes, I'd say wihout a doubt BYB has an allocation from Topps. I'm sure they buy directly.
@ it’s crazy then that Topps hasn’t condemned them if they have allocation. I know Platinum Card Breaks has been involved in a bunch of scandals, but they don’t get allocation from Panini or Topps. A lot of these big breaks have deals with Blowout. Just asking the question about the allocation though bc I haven’t seen it reported anywhere if they did or didn’t have allocation. It’s vile regardless and there is no place for that language or beliefs anywhere
Breaking 24hrs a day ? Yea that's a problem.
Wander Franco and grant will be good friends
hahahaha
Come over to the coin collecting world…lots of older guys with vocal political opinions will feel refreshing compared to this.
Kinda sounds like the sports card hobby in 2014-2017 lol
0:13 anytime there's money to be made the con artist and hustlers come out of the woodwork to sit there and make their dent. I've seen it in the coin community I've seen it in the precious metal community now that auctions are becoming more prevalent online eBay is going to eventually phase out
Where there;s money and there are no real regulations, there will be scammers. It's sad.
Unless Bobby Witt Jr or Ohtani says something, Topps isn't listening. That is all their focus is on 24/7/365.
Maybe we need Livvy Dunne to speak up.
For profit companies will always be for profit companies. If it could hurt the bottom line they won’t do it.
yep!!
If we are relying on a corporate entity to guide our morals then we have a problem
Corporation is there make money, nothing else
Any morals a corporation broadcasts is just marketing
This is 100% accurate
Unfortunately I have a feeling those comments were pretty par for the course for their audience
Mostly likely, you are correct. I'm not sure they've lost any business over this.
Oh ya I'm sure a half million dollar card being pulled by the Girthmaster would be a great look for the MLB. Something is going to give. These companies aren't stupid.
I heard byb is possibly 30% of Whatnots revenue? This would explain WNs silence. Super sad and disappointing
Very disappointing
Also the thumbnail is amazing

wishful thinking.

You're probably right
Just another sad event. Do that crap in the real corporate world and see what happens!!!

The hobby is a bunch of gambling addicts disguised as collectors
Chris here - I used to think it was at least the majority was collectors, but I'm not sure anymore.
Chris here - I understand this point of view. I disagree, but that's ok. If the viewers and buyers keep going back then Topps will not be motivated to do a damn thing about it.
@ For sure there are still collectors thats why im subscirbed to this channel. But from what I see everything is now geared toward $ and not really collecting.
Fanatics and Topps are the casino and we are all gambling in it to some degree unless your just buying singles. Everyone wants the the big hit to sell and not keep imo. TBH even the people who gamble for the hits can also be collectors at the same time. It just feels like the gambling aspect is what the companies in this hobby are pushing.
players should talk about this situation
I wouldn't hold our breath. Not many players are into cards and surely they have nothing to gain by weighing in here.
The brand as a whole should be banned from selling and setting up Period!!! Think about if one of us little guys did it we would be banned before u can say the word "Backyard"
100%
Yep.
If people continue to let Topps and Panini continue with this then they leave you no choice but get out! Case in point, Quality. I purchased 4 cards from Panini in November, ordered even earlier. I received the cards in December, these were four rookie cards in the Instant format. EVERY card was either damaged, scratched or just crappie printing. I did a product submission on 12/13/24. TO THIS DAY, 2/5/25, they continue to tell me that cannot determine which department tech to forward this too. PEOLE HAVE GOT TO DEMAND THIS KIND OF SERVICE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. Just like PSA and their grading inconsistency, as long as people continue to buy this crap, they going to keep taking your money. Ok, i promise, ill quit now.
Did you kick TPott off the show?
Not yet...
If Topps WOULD take a stand, I would buy some packs just to say thanks. As it is, I don't open packs. I buy singles.
Chris here - that's the smart way to collect in the current environment!
13:45 that addiction thing is absolutely true cuz I bit the bug buying a retro box which I love to crack open cuz it brought me back to my childhood but the last time I rip packs was 93 stadium club maybe for that was 91 tops but I've been so far out of the hobby for so long and the hype really makes you get sucked in. The one thing I'm really good at is I watch a lot of content and do a lot of research before I get into it and I could see the repeat of the junk wax era 2.0 with the massive printing of cards and then the allure of these parallels that are overprinted and number cards through the wahzoo. When you have 50 different variations for a complete set. It takes two to tango and there's a reason why tops isn't really making any noise about it
Overprinting is definitely a problem again. But, how can Topps grow the hobby without making more cards?
yes. now ill listen to what yall say.
Whatnot lost both a buyer and seller in me. I think more people need to make that move to push whatnot to do something.
We totally agree. Speak your voice with your wallet. It's the only way they listen.
@ yep money talks in this world. I was kinda over whatnot anyways with the “bro” atmosphere which was a great way of putting it by Scott
Well done. 💪
Answer is YUP (before watching) lol
hahaha - not much of a teaser really!
Haven’t watched yet, but yes
I follow sports cards and do not know what you are talking about
Not main stream news
I’m quitting new cards and going back to all vintage, I have every set from 1992 back to 73 then 68 and just started 58, I’d rather buy a low grade mantle for a hundred then rip this junk we have today
Any particular numbered parallels that an online community could flag as “handled/broken by pedophile” so we all can avoid even the singles?
nah, parallels are in everything!
Hopefully somethings got to change, as an owner of two local businesses this is why local business owners hate corporate America because when something does go wrong, there’s no accountability,, Topps should have made a statement and a substantial donation, and like all the guys said, just make a statement that we’re not going to put up with this, I have personally deleted whatnot app, I have not purchased any breaks since this incident on any format, I have just decided to collect my Yankees especially 2013-2017 Aaron Judge and Yankees if his cards or any of my cards go to zero so be it I’m in it for the joy of the Hobby I guess I’ll just be stuck with all my Shaq and Jordan 90 cards that I collected and couldn’t wait to see if it went up five dollars in next month Beckett,, Ha Ha Everyone stay safe, collect what brings happiness, and you’ll never go wrong in this hobby,, great show as always guys keep up the great content!
Collecting Aaron Judge cards seems like a good strategy. Good choice!
what not is for jokes not real businesses.
I agree with Scott - I don't see myself opening much wax going forward because of the poor decisions Topps / Fanatics continue to make / let slide.
totally understandable!!
After hearing about the shenanigans on a stream and seeing the reaction by others in the hobby, I believe how it was handled does not suffice. Not to mention that Geoff Wilson made a comment which translated to accepting Grants apology and attempting to think civilized by mentioning the employees and their families would ultimately suffer financial loss if Whatnot did more….i had to chime in and make Geoff realize that although his comment is true, Grant clearly did not think of the potential consequences of his comments before making those comments. And since Grant is the face of the brand, does it mean that it’s ok if he either removes himself or only he is banned? I personally think Whatnot has their priorities and morals twisted. Whatever happened to making the hobby an enjoyable experience for the youth? Professionalism is key in all you do in a business. I now see Whatnot does not have the intestinal fortitude to “Make it right” and are too focused on the incoming cash flow.
I don't think we ever expected WhatNot to do a damn thing. Sadly.
Geoff posted about it today, apologizing for not taking a stronger stand against BYB initially.
All the things you mentioned have taken a back seat to revenues unfortunately.
@ I saw his post and replied to it stating, “take the sand out your clit and man up” he can still do something especially since he has a juggernaut of a platform, but many of us know he won’t, due to it being a possible “bad business decision”
I’m halfway through the video, I do have a few thoughts. First I mean no disrespect to anyone. I don’t condone pedophilia. With that being said I don’t know what was said and probably would have never known about this if it wasn’t for you guys bringing it to everyone that watch’s you all attention. I support everyone’s freedom of speech. But if it’s truly pedophilia that was being promoted then we are talking something completely different and actions should be taken. What not is like watching tv if I see something I don’t like I change the channel. Know I’m going finish this video and maybe it’s really as bad as you guys say.
Regarding free speech - of course! Nobody is suggesting criminal charges. We are free to say what we want - outside of libel, and endangering others.
It's just gross and we hoped that one of the companies promoting these guys would stand up and say it's inappropriate and not something they want to be associated with. Companies and people are also free to cancel associations with people who say/do things that we don't like.
@ liberal companies , I have not watched a video of what they said and the reality is I’m not going to. They are not a Chanel I watch. The reality is probably 80% of the people in the hobby would never watch them anyway. To shed light on these people when most people do not the hobby are doing positive things is a disservice to those doing good. I support the right for topps to sponsor/ promote / send or do whatever as long as it’s not truly harming anyone.
@ let’s promote the positive, let’s promote those such as yourself and countless others that are in the channels we tune into.
Yeah boy
if anybody truly believes a gambling addict cares anything about what grant said i suggest you go out and meet some addicts
this is true
I absolutely can not stand these guys but I also believe in free speech. Where do you draw the line? (Maybe here? Lol) Their customers will follow them wherever they go and it’d be cool if it was really far away.
Chris here - I struggle with this as well. Free speech is fine - nobody is calling for charges to be pressed - but Topps is certainly in a position to make a statement about the behavior. And customers will vote to approve or disapprove with their wallets.
@@SpitballinCards I wish they would. I can’t believe people still associate with them after the giveaway scandal. Or just after listening to them talk for that matter. lol
Well, that took a turn at the end.
I’m not a fan backyard they could disappear but isn’t there some hypocrisy if you’re not calling out LeBron James the same way. You want Topps or panini to stop printing his cards or other athletes that have done or said things criminal or other
Yes. Its gambling.
It's a big aspect of the hobby today. Sadly. too much.
I think Whatnot did the right thing and suspended the individual. Outrage culture is a bad trend. I’ve never seen their breaks. We speak with our wallets. Moral people take a financial stand. This goes for the whole hobby and overproduction as well
pokemon cards are better than sports cards now
chris here - please no!
@@SpitballinCards please no why sports cards are bad right now where pokemon cards are selling out everywhere
