Super clean. It’s nothing like the 70s full size car rides. They are roomy, comfortable and amusing. Congratulations.
Elijah, I'm so jealous of your stunning car. At first I thought it was black, but when I saw the trunk, I realized it's a dark Burgundy. Such a beauty!
Tim - IML member and still looking for a 1969 Lebanon.
Best looking Chrysler imperial ever build strong big power and great style love old cars American cars are beautiful no matter what cars it is
Chrysler and Imperial were two different divisions from 1955 to 1975! Imperial was the top Chrysler make, not model, the LeBaron was the top Imperial model!
Simply beautiful. I miss my 1969 Chrysler Newport!
@@kyboy5 ...we are talking about cars here, not about your sexual preference.
I do not think I have ever seen a 1970 Imperial, certainly not on video! I owned a 1972 Imperial LeBaron and they really are not that similar. That surprised me. Thank you for showing this great car!
My fourth car back in 1981 through 1986 was a 1971 Imperial LeBaron!essentially the same as a 1970 but with modified headlight doors and close to 1972-'73 emblems and badges! And the 1972 style headlight and Sentinel switches!
Nice Car! I love the 1970's Chrysler Imperial cars. Big! Wide! Heavy! Mileage as in MPG I would hate to ask. Made before the Oil Embargo these were very heavy and Huge V8 Iron!
There is a article by allpar stating that these can get some good gas millage in terms of highway, they stated something like 15 MPG and 10 city, could be increased slightly by modern throttle body efi. Here is the part in the article that highlights millage.
Fuel consumption was competitive with any other vehicle near its weight during these model years. Depending on driver skill, they were capable of 15 - 16 USA miles per gallon, helped by radial tires at proper pressure, when out on an open highway. City traffic reduced miles per gallon to about ten or so.
@@hunterrobertson9807 with efi upgrade, electric fuel pump, and adding a cold air intake it can get about 25 mpg
Had my 68 ninety eight out once at 145mph. Once was enough if I didn’t have steel belt new Goodyear’s tiempos. And front end was solid shocks were new too. Ran like battle cruiser and quiet. Sold it
How did ya know since the speedo only goes to 120mph? Hahahaha what a crock.
@@paulpeterson4320 the 455 engine of that era was rated at 131 miles an hour possibly it did do 145
I love this car. Our family had a Choc Brown with a Black Leather Interior and a Black Roof. I would to buy one before I die. It would mean a lot. Hopefully I can get $ to get one . 64 now still time! I think, lol
Learned to drive on this vehicle, nice ride...
By far the largest and longest car ever produced by Chrysler.
Andrew Armstrong you are correct. It was the largest car in American history. It beat the Cadillac Eldorado by 5.7 inches. That's big
I miss the old big boats. sweet rides.
this classical music makes it more elegant☺️
Somebody paid $8,841 US dollars for that car in 1970 and were either called Sir or Ma'am owned a bank, real estate company, successful business, buildings, rental housing or all the above and then some.
1970 Imperial LeBaron 4dr Hardtop Sedan
8-cyl. 440cid/350hp 4bbl/3-speed Automatic transmission
Number Produced
8,426
Curb Weight: 4660 lbs.
Vehicle Length: 229 in.
Wheel Base: 127 in.
To put that into perspective a 1999 GMC Suburaban is only 220 in. long. Also, this Imperial offered 6 more inches in interior width. This Imperial was also 5.7 inches longer than the 1976-78 Cadillac Eldorado. The 1970's Imperial LeBaron was the longest and widest car ever made in Detroit's automotive history.
When cars were cars, men were men and America was still America
These Imperials are so impressive and stylish. They had Lincoln beat hands down and Cadillacs looked bulky but the Caddie had a great convertible. The Caddie 2 door had a better roof line too. The 4 doors no.
Wow sequential lights would look good on that car for the rear brakes
They did the previous year, the bought the sequential devices from ford.
When someone drove a car like this in that era you know that they were well off but today if you drive a luxury car like Cadillac Chrysler 300 Ford Lincoln they all look the same everyone's well off cuz everyone drives them now all classes from Rich to poor middle-class To Mediocre class you can't distinguish anyone anymore.
Car porn.
I love that horizontal tail-lamp look better than the later models more upright lenses. This car has a lot of attitude.
A big presence, but a real sexy quirky style. Someone should put a modern fuel efficient engine in one of these and throw some modern tech systems to manage it all. I am sure people would go wild for an Imperial with pleasing fuel economy.
Neil Young did that with a '59 Lincoln and it is still an awesome creation because he preserved the original character of the old girl (mostly) and used it as a regular driver AND it was economical. Maybe not easy to park, but economical.
Of course, now I've said that, who would replace their Mopar power house ? -But a dead engine car ? >>Come on Someone !
Maybe a modern V8 will improve MPG but why would you do that? By the time you're finished with all the custom work you've spend thousends and thousends of dollars not to mention actually buying a modern V8 & transmission. The cost of all that will buy you gas for a few decades. After all, these cars are used in the weekends on a dry day. Part of the heritage is having an authentic legendary 440 under that big hood. If you want MPG go get a 4 cyl grocery getter.
You didn't have to worry about gas mileage until mid-decade!
Well, other than literally not being able to get gas, customers at this level didn't care about the mpg. Of course, gas concerns affected Chrysler as a whole since its primarily customer base did care about mpg.
My brother had one of these car it gave my brother many problem it was nice I believe it kill my father it went out he help to push it right after that he had a heart attack

A dark-color paint.. on a car in HOT Texas??
I'm surprised they didn't order the "dual A/C" system, especially in Texas.
@@frothe42 No, sorry. If you look at the picture of the trunk, you will see the spare tire mounted up underneath the rear package shelf. This is where the rear evap unit would be located (and very visible in the pictures) Over the years I have had 5 Imperials with dual A/C, and 6 wagons with dual A.C. That was a common sight in cars from southern Arizona and there used to be a lot in the yards, but most have been crushed up by now. The "rear air" switch is for the rear window defogger. If you look at 4:31, you can see the rear defroster outlet against the back.
@@MrTommyboy68 You're right, I stand corrected. After seeing more of the video, I do see it has the rear window defogger.
@@frothe42 Not a problem. A LOT of times guys will advertise DUAL A/C because of the "rear air" switch. I even saw a guy who put the rear air vents on the package shelf and claimed it was dual A/C. He literally didn't know. I am not an expert, but do know what to look for. Thanks for being cool. MOPARS RULE.
True luxury car! Burned premium-grade(100 octane) fuel...about 16 mpg highway, 9-10 mpg city...but what miles! Set the cruise control at 70 and it'd take you 400 miles in great comfort. Smooth ride, but very agile handling, unlike the mushy cornering of Lincs and Caddies. I owned one...unforgettable.
FATHER HAD A 71 VERY COMFORTABLE AND AGILE AND FAST !
