Yes, Jerry Reed *was* amazing. I only really discovered him ten years ago or so _(although I'd had his guitar licks in head for 40+ years),_ exploring the web and youtube around "Big Boss Man", which was Elvis signature song for me when I was a teenager and which I have been keen on covering, over the years. When it hit me, I spent some time trying to watch everything worthy from Jerry that was available. But you can't help being disappointed by his weakness, when you peruse what he's left us. His smugness, rather pronounced, spoils in part his oh so sweet composer's turns, vocal harmonies and guitar licks. And it gets worse: he loses it all to alcohol and makes a song and clip of that degradation, as "his last bow"! That's to introduce the following, regarding this excellent vintage session excerpt _(grazie mille, Antonio !):_ "Ouuh, what a great pleasure it is to hear Elvis take on the song and sing it so close to perfectly!". I'm still floored by Jerry's greatly pleasurable guitar works on both these highlights of their collaboration that "Big Boss Man" and "Guitar Man" were, but the best combination of things is when Jerry composes and plays and Elvis sings! \o/
Back in the day in London, a pal of mine came round home for a couple of beers and brought a couple of LP`S, (that`s vinyl to you young`uns) - That pal was Mick Abrahams -Jethro Tull and Blodwyn Pig - and the LP`s were of Jerry reed) Needless to say I became a huge fan of Jerry's and went out and bought everything I could of his.
I couldn't let the Elvis fans down, even if mine channel got removed again, God bless u all.
