I have just come back to Warmaster after many years with the new Revolution armies and rules and am loving it, having signed up with three of my mates to the CanCon competition in Australia next January. While my original Chaos, Empire and Dwarf armies have been fun to dust off my new love are the Lizardmen. I hope you understand the importance your videos have in the rebirth if this great system. Also. I love my dogs list. Which other than pike, take elements of my other armies as other troops and I use some historical’s to also create some of the troop choice stats. Makes for a unique and colorful army.

I have at least a third of the armies here. Still love my 3000 point goblin army. Fun. And can be a daunting amount of troops for the enemy to get rid of especially with a very high break point even at a 2000 point army. Though sometimes I max out chariots and use my Grom the Paunch miniature I made to lead them. It will lose due to it being very brittle but making my foes scatter is fun. And then the counter charge eats me alive if I don’t have back up troops to take advantage.
First of all, I'm new to the game and I don't have too much experience to my side. I'm taking with high regards Iainmstanding's opinion and for what I can see the factions seems more balanced now. The most of the armies are now in the middle of the tier, and in the lowest part we only have 3 instead of 4 (of course there are 2 brand new faction and this may false this simple view). This in my opinion is a good improvement
I believe the Cathay army is a decent horde army with nice cheap forces that can be a decent horde list, with some nice hard hitters (man eaters) and decent limited cavalry/chariots. Their power is in their artillery, their ability to have larger brigades, the terracotta warrior brigades that can weather enemy shooting and be a shield to the forceds that follow up the vanguard. I provide a small contingent of defenders for the artillery which is quite good, and the armies command values are on a par with most humand armies. my list has 2 brigades of 3 terracotta units, backed up by 2 brigades of hand gunners, maneaters, 3 banner bearers per brigade. A flank force of 2 chariots and 2 imperial cavalry a rear artillery brigade of 2 tripple bows, and 2 rocket launchers is protected by a small brigade of 3 hand gunner units. I had thought to reduce this to 2 to allow for a second sorcerer and have 5 points spare. The command is provided by a general, 2 heroes and a sorcerer so 4 characters seems a good amount for this size force at 2000 points. The sorcerer has a dispel scroll. I think the nippon list should be dropped down a level but be closer to the top of that level. If you want to include flyers and some of the nasty hard hitting units like Oni, then you run the risk of instability in a similar way to chaos daemon army lists. Yes there are some temple daemons oyu can avoid as they do not give the bonuses that other units can give but komainu do have that extra attack like chariots, but count as cavalry. The army has no magic to boost it, thoiugh if oyu work out the list corrctly and how ot deploy oyur shugenja properly there is a 50% chance you can cancel out enemy magic even without a dispel scroll. Ninja give you infiltrating troops in a similar manner to skaven gutter runners, but the list has no real powerful non daemon units except for samurai and samurai cavalry which will eat your points up quickly. The Araby list needs a rewording on the magic carpets as far as I can tell they are flying cavalry following the rules for cavalry and fliers, and can be pursued by ant enemy units. They do not seem worth their 85 points, even with 2 x 15cm shooting attacks. Also the araby army looks to be a mass charging army backed up by a lot of shooting chaffe units. LImited tactics with not artillery, and elephants and knights being their only heavy hitters. This list doe not seem to be as good as your review puts them. Perhaps drop them dow a few pegs.
One thing I struggle with goblins is the defensive game they have to play to win, just like skaven had to play blob hordes to win, (hopefully changed with new rules). In my mind, goblins can be cowardly until they hit that critical mass, then aggressive. So why reduce their command to even worse than orcs? I proposed this in the discord, but it never gained any traction: Raise the cost of goblin heroes to 60 or 70, and give them a LD 8 to only goblin or snotling units, but -1 to all kinds of orcs, giants, or trolls. They could be used this way in orc armies also. Would give them a chance to be aggressive, and not be forced to play the "hole up on a hill with artillery, wait for the enemies charge, and then use your second rank to initiative counter charge" game. Could you propose this to the trial committee for evaluation? We have played with this, and it gave the gobbos a chance to actually initiate combat (needing a 8 and 6 rather than a 7 and 5 for command rolls). Thanks!
I proposed a command bonus to all Goblin characters this year. Goblin characters would get plus one to their command when ordering a brigade of three or four units containing at least 2 goblin units. It did not pass the vote.
I bought some 10mm bits on the basis of your videos - still in the shame pile.... It will get done. Any chance of a tournament report and some hobby stuff for scenery?
Thank you for the awesome content! In the context of a new player, do you believe the strength of Araby is pretty terrain dependent? With fairly poor infantry options, do they struggle in a terrain dense environment or do you believe they have sufficient tools to tackle most obstacles?

For better understanding: do you consider S-Tier armies as "overpowered" and would reduce their effectiveness for balancing reasons (i.e. do you think it needs a very experienced player with a B-Tier army to beat an intermediate player with an S-Tier army), or rather say that S-Tier armies are extremely beginners friendly, but quite balanced for intermediate and experienced players?

Ogres are a solid B-tier in my opinion, based on their survivability. Norse is a B too.

S tier is beginner friendly, easy to use, so experienced players or those seeking a challenge may wish to try lower tier armies.
