This is one of my favorite albums of all time. I was 53 this year yeah fuck! and I dream back to the day when all was well and we were all healthy and happy but life sucks, part of living I know, getting old and all that shit! But it still fucking rocks!

I totally loved this band. I was stationed in Misawa Japan in the early 80's and bought this LP. Wore it OUT. Had my leather punk jacket with the album logo I painted on myself. I can't believe my ears!!! Thanks for the flashback.

Saw them back in 1982 in London at the now long difunct " The Venue " just around the corner from Victoria Station, very convenient for us, went there often back then. Was always a little puzzled why they didn't have any greater commercial success they made some great catchy commercial tunes that should of had broader appeal. I suppose back then you would have only heard them on John Peels late night weekday Radio 1 show not on daytime radio, they passed most people by I guess, like so many other indie bands of that time. They simply didn't get the exposure they and so many others deserved. Another missed opportunity. Great band !

And this is how we made videos back in the early '80s: mix together some scenes of religious folk with some war footage and you were guaranteed an underground hit. Not meaning to knock the Violets in any way (love 'em), just saying that was the state of the art then. If you were a Leeds band, you either did something like this or went out to Kirkstall Abbey to shoot something Gothic.

Robin Turner Yes that was my assessment exactly when i created the video, I wanted it to look like it was made in 1982. Great period for original music, great song and smashing drum rhythms from the Boss DR55

@@sputtttnik, was it dr55 they used? I thought it was dr55 in the beginning, but then the snare came in and it started to sound like something else

@@karljanus8308 suspect it's a Roland TR-606. The Sisters of Mercy had moved onto a 606 by this time and they were big friends with the Violets.

Fabian Dee not for 80s punk videos. It was royalty free and flashy while still highlighting the hypocrisy of nationalism so punk bands threw it in their videos all the time. It was a total trend at least I know Black flag did it a bit too.
