It’s super hard to not compare your growth to the growth of others in your niche, and that’s where I struggle. But I have to keep telling myself as long as I’m going up. But someone is sad by 1000 subscribers in a month? I would be ecstatic!! I’m excited if I get 50 in a month!

Most UA-camrs quit because they don`t have colleagues. I made about 700 videos over three years and don`t quit. Only because of the community of UA-camrs around me. We have a small group of about 20-30 people, which is real support.

I’ve poured almost all my free time into my channel and after almost a year I still haven’t seen any growth(from my long forms). It’s getting to the point where I’m not even sure I can sustain this channel for the next few years due to school. I’ve been on UA-cam for about 3 years now and lately the idea of “quitting” has been entering my mind because the growth has been sooo slow and I am anxious about the future of my life and business. But I’ve realized I’ve grown in a since that I am monetized (just not at the level I want to be), my editing is better, thumbnails , etc. I realized that I am going to have to make a pívot but I am proud of myself and I’m not giving up on my dream! Part of the patience and expectations problem lies in the solution…while we want to motivate ourselves with the grandeur of someone else’s viral or “million subs in one month!” video, it can also warp our expectations.
We just need to stick with it, be patient, and check our expectations.
    It’s just that easy! 😬

  • @aurishakira

I’ve had many thoughts about quitting. And it would mostly be because of the views and sometimes the low retention spans on some of my vidoes. But I’ve been on UA-cam for only a year now and I’ve only made 74 videos and I have 480 subs. So I think I’m growing and functioning at a good pace. And another thing I really thought deeply about and what came to my realization is obviously UA-cam is a very broad platform. And my nechie for my channel is reacting to music and tv shows. So when I see some of videos getting low views or I look in my analytics and I see how many people swipe away and watch my vidoes. I don’t panic or worry to much because most of those people could just be interested in other topics that my channel doesn’t provide. So I’m proud of my growth and I’m going to continue to grow, no matter what. 🥰

Thanks! Great insight. Also if you truly love something even if you're super small niche you should do it for yourself. We really need to do more life journeys that come from the heart. We all have room to grow above and beyond being trend chasers. I feel like people are starved for unique content because of clout chasing. Not everyone is going to make it Mr Big style. But they certainly can make the world a better place to live by sharing a need they see missing.

I once heard someone say “keep creating. Even if you feel like your not getting what you want. “Keep creating”. 1 new subscriber or 10 this is growth. 1 extra view or 10 extra views it is growth. Only stop if you consistently get less views then your previous video. Also, compare yourself to yourself. You want to improve on your own work.
Which is similar to what Sean said here. I’m in 2 years now and over 200 videos made. I’m at 494 subs and so close to the new partner program requirements I can taste it.
Did I want to quit. Many times I hovered over the delete button. But If I had I wouldn’t have made it this far. It’s the hardest thing to make videos when it feels like your doing it for yourself. But when you change your mindset that’s when things get much easier.
If I only get 10 views I’m happy. Because that’s 10 people that wouldn’t of seen my video if I never made it. 👍

UA-cam has been the hardest work I’ve done but it’s all move so I’ll love doing it. I’m almost at 10k subs in under 8 months. The biggest thing I did was just ok consistent with posting videos.

I'd love if you could address other factors that turn creators away from YT.
For me, it is highly problematic that YT's business model has consistently become less humane, more aggressive, and more exploitative. Removal of basic functions such as viewing video ratings, sorting comments in chronological order, messaging other creators; forced conversion of videos into shorts; removal of the right to choose what we monetize; removal of ability for the support team to communicate with the development team; restriction of several content ID services from small creators (even when our content is constantly being ripped and infringed); deleting videos from playlists without informing us; and on and on. UA-cam literally shadow bans people now, censors certain channels and creators, has deleted entire channels that focused on political corruption (including Pulitzer Prize winners), and much worse.
If your only message to people is, "Just youtube harder!" then not only are you telling people to accept all of this, but encouraging more businesses to do the same. You're in a sense pushing society in a negative direction.
Again, I'd love to hear any advice you have for people like me, who have become increasingly disgusted by Google/YT's inhumanity.
And here's the thing: I could be wildly "successful" (in the fame and fortune sense) if I decided to ignore the bad and just jump on the bandwagon. Or if I were in this for the money.

Absolutely. Disgusting aggressive business. In the future UA-cam will become the biggest viewed pornsite in the world as that is what draws viewers and subscribers and one becomes super rich. The good quality content doesn't matter its only the trashy that brings money. UA-cam is getting worse and worse.

I’ve only clicked on this video because I wanna know who’s a quitter…. If you started UA-cam never quit because that moment you’ve quit maybe that one video can that you feel like it’s wack can be your breakthrough one…. I have a video with almost 21k views and suppose I’m a quitter, I wouldn’t receive that much…. Keep up the good work you’re a genius on this 🙏🏾

This was a great video. I currently started UA-cam covering Diablo 4 and I understand this completely. I set a goal to hit 1k subs by September and I am seeing growth but definitely understanding you just need to be patient and consistent and try to improve something with every upload.
