NBC defense: MERT for quick results

The video shows a demonstration of the MERT = Multirole Exploitation and Reconnaissance Team. MERT is a unique capability within NATO. This special team supports the infantry in evaluating an NBC danger situation. The MERT claims to deliver results quickly and to take samples for detailed laboratory evaluation. In the scenario shown here, an infantry squad storms a grenade workshop and recognizes an NBC threat there. Then the MERT appears, determines the actual risk, takes samples and finally brings them to the laboratory.
The occasion was the visitor day at the NBC exercise "Platinum Mask 2023" in Upper Lusatia. It is an exercise of the NBC Defense Battalion 7, the NRF (NATO Response Force) and the CJ-CBRND-TF (Combined Joint CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear) Defense Task Force).
