I am separated by an ocean from my girlfriend--I am a Yank and she is English. And I watch this almost every day. It touches my heart in a way that nothing else really does. And Chloe's little "Thank you" at the very end--oh gosh. Turn on the taps. Can't help it.
Dear Chloe, I am a 67 year old man in Colorado. I continue to replay your sensational singing performance. Please follow the career of your choice. You are born to sing. Thank you for participating on Britain's Got Talent so that I can enjoy replaying your performance. James Putnam
Here 13 years later in 2024, and I couldn’t agree more. I’ve remembered this performance and still replay it. She sang beautifully. Hope she’s happy and still singing, wherever Life has taken her.
Worth mentioning that this song had a very deep impact on the soldiers and airmen who fought off Fascism successfully, and is a sort of anthem to the Battle of Britain, where the RAF emerged victorious despite being severely out numbered. Love Live the Queen, and Long Live Great Britain!
On the contrary, the EU is the best thing to happen to Europe since the Roman Empire, the more the UK gets involved the better. The UK and Europe in general needs to turn its back on american Fascism, the further the EU moves away from the US the better off they will be.
You don't need to be in the EU to trade with it, and if you are, the price every member state has to pay in terms of loss of political sovereignty is very high - too high, if I'm being honest.
I listened again for the umpteenth time. I am not British, but, how could the British not feel the astounding significiance of a very young very talented girl singing about one of the most horrible times in the history of the world. You make me feel the pain and hope that the British felt during Wolrd War II. Thank you. James Putnam
Her English accent is a breath of fresh air after hearing the brash American kids. Also she's humble and doesn't boast nor does she hit the BIG high notes where everyone stands up and cheers. She's in tune and gets my support, however, she has a way to go, but when she is nurtured properly and i hope she does, she could well shine. Also, she may be lovely but can she totally engage us....??? Iffy at moment. I have been teaching choral music to primary school. mainly girls, since 1967 and I know when someone has it in bucketloads. It has to be WOW from the go methinks.
One of my favourite videos on the whole of UA-cam. Chloe, I am just 3 years older than you and I was SHOCKED to hear your beautiful and amazing voice. Woe betide any trolls who dislike you. You're fantastic, you're beautiful, your clothes are lovely (and I know a lot about fashion thanks to my sister) and you're so sweet! Sing your heart out! And eat your hearts out, trolls! Do1phinDreamer xx XD XD XD
I'm genuinely impressed. She chose a beloved, heartfelt UK song and delivered a stellar performance. Brilliant. A 10 year old singing in front of thousands, like she 's done it a dozen times before. Dressed like the cute little girl she is.
Wow! What a beautiful voice and a wonderful song to sing. "The White Cliffs of Dover" is a wonderful song. She has an old style singing voice that is soulful and rich. I want to wish her the very best in life.
Such a touching song, she sings it so beautifully her family must be so proud. Its unusual for such a young lady to love such an old style of music- let alone know who Vera Lynn is!
Melody? MELODY! ! What a concept! Bottle it and pass it around. I wish it'd catch on! ! ! Such a joyous thing too long lost and forgotten!! Love this little girl's big voice. P.S. And Pooh Pooh to Simon and his "more contemporary" ideas!!!!! ENUF already!
It was wonderful to hear such an old song packed with nostalgic memories. I would so love for that kind of music to come back again. If only we could regain that spirit once again. Unfortunately I think it's gone forever...
I find it stangely eerie that a judge would call straight, beautiful melodic signing as "old fashioned." I''ll tell you what I can't stand, hearing the Star Spangled Banner sung in pop style, overdone, phoney lyrical posturing, etc. An anthem or ballad, or any sort of national song is far more glorious when done traditionally.
Excellent performance Chloe - you stay on track and diligent with your talent - please. We all need a gal like you singing now, just like everyone needed Vera back then. Ms. Lynn, I suspect, would be really proud.
The lyrics in fact referred to the RAF and RCAF fighter pilots (in their blue uniforms) as "bluebirds" and expresses confidence that they shall prevail during the dark days of the Battle of Britain.
No, she is England's version of Andrea McArdle -- little girl voice, but decently in pitch. Having McArdle portray Judy Garland in the biopic was pretty insulting to Judy's voice. As a child, Judy Garland had a massive adult voice. This is similar. A decent little girl who does a lot with her little girl voice. Yay
I m crying every time when I watch this clip. that great song for the deeply hard time of our people, She warming up my heart, I miss you pilots and thank you to fight for us and I miss you Spitfire. Thank you very much.
I could nitpick but at her age, this is spectacular. Hopefully she gets a good voice coach, because I think she is forcing some notes in a way that, long term, could be bad for her voice. I am not a fan of the current vocal fashions, and to find someone who looks likely to carry on the vocal tradition of a past, and to me, superior age, is encouraging.
Recently finding that with nearly 400 years of American heritage, I have at lease 600 years of English heritage, I can just imagine the thousand of seamen returning from months, even years away to see the the Cliffs of Dover on the horizon with emotions of pride, relief and moist eyes at the wonderful sight ahead!
Great singing but kind of humorous too. The song was written by Kent and Burton who were Americans in 1941 during WWII -- but the funny part is there are only three species of bluebirds (genus: Sialia) in the world and all are found only in North America. There never were and never will be bluebirds over the White Cliffs of Dover! (
From what I understand, that's kind of the point of the song. It's an impossible thing and at the time it seemed like war ending was an impossible thing too. The impossible happens.
That is one reasonable interpretation I guess. But more likely the songwriters were just following the very popular American tradition of the time (1940's) and using bluebirds as metaphor or a symbol of hope -- there are literally dozens of American songs that do that. In 1941, in the darkest days of WWII, most citizens would not have had a clue nor ever wondered about the geographic distribution of bluebirds. In those days bluebirds were still one of the most common rural birds across much of North American and by far one of the most beloved of our native avian species. They were used in popular song very often. Most in the United States never doubted we would win the WWII eventually -- in those days America stood for something and impossible was not a word we used..
RivasSarah123 Maybe so but probably not. It is very unlikely that the composers in 1941, would have even had a clue as to the worldwide distribution of bluebirds. In fact I'd be willing to bet that until I mentioned it just now that 90% of the commenters on this video in 2014 did not know that bluebirds are found only in North America. Did you know it by chance? So the fact that the song happens to be biogeographically inaccurate is something I find humorous.
Dear Chloe, I listened again today. Please follow your dream. I also like to replay Olivia Archbold's performances. I think that Britain's Got Talent does more to discover talent than does America's got talent. I see fool's commenting. Do not pay attention to fools. Pay attention to your heart. Best wishes to you. James
I think she did really really well but yeah, not like they made it out to be. I wonder what Simon would've said. But at ten years old I think that's very impressive.
Gemma Pettersen She's got the voice; not the technique. But that means she's got potential. Without a voice to go along with your talent, no amount of technique will save you.
THATTTTTT... WAS soooo moving, it......... She manage to pull real tears on me, that was beautiful, love you.... and keep singing. God bless you Chloe :)
Chloe did great keep it up! What, pray-tell, did all of you haters/trolls/critics achieve at 10 years old?!? 99.9% of you a-big-fat-nada! She has a bright future, loads of talent, so just be happy for her. Go Chloe, Go! Sua Sponte!
Chloe. A star is Born tonight. Chloe 100% Yes's from me. Hats 🎓🎓🎓 off to You Chloe. What a Wonderful Vice. Chloe Top the Class to you. Thank you for singing. 😅😃😀 I come from the Rep of Ireland.
I watch this every so often and it never fails to bring a tear.
The same happens to me, Max.
I am separated by an ocean from my girlfriend--I am a Yank and she is English. And I watch this almost every day. It touches my heart in a way that nothing else really does. And Chloe's little "Thank you" at the very end--oh gosh. Turn on the taps. Can't help it.
So Wonderful every time I watch this!
Such a classic...And she sings it with such emotion and the vibrato used is simply remarkable. Well done!
For a ten year old this is fantastic, a lovely little girl. her parents must be so proud.
ya why not her parents must be proud of her talent

Love Live the Queen, and Long Live Great Britain!
The Uk has not be successfully invaded since 1066, no other Bastards have done it!
StarDagger777 Well, the European Union has done it a different way. They've robbed all our sovreignty.
On the contrary, the EU is the best thing to happen to Europe since the Roman Empire, the more the UK gets involved the better.

A big song sung with a beautiful simplicity which immediately touched all present. A real talent.
The Brits are always going to go nuts for this song. I'll always admire the example of steadfast courage those people gave during WWII.
I just love this song. She sings it perfectly!!! Great job Miss.
Love this Girl! So humble and sweet! Sings like an Angel!
That was a Great Performance by Chloe and to sing a Classic that well is Astonishing for someone so Young~~~
Gives me goose bumps every time I hear her, she owned this song
I always loved Vera Lynn singing this and this young girl has done it proud, well done.
Peter Neil 86
Anna Lloret z xxzz
Aww grandma was cryin before she even started! adorable!
Beautiful voice & song!
Most adult sounding 10 year old I've ever heard, simply magnificent. Just watching her, it's hard to believe she is only 10 years, old. How cool.
10 year old respects the people from the war bless her gives us hope
wow a 10 years old girl can sing a perfect song what a this is a human or a angel that was a great performance ilove this great singing

Chloe sings an old song magnificently. She brings it alive once again.
There is only one word for this, "MAGNIFICENT".
Her grandma is AWESOME!!!!!!
love it..amazing old school english song..this country needs more of this sort of thing
Chloe belies her years. That was beautiful and such a songbird. I hope she goes well. I was in tears listening to her
Beautiful powerful voice. She'll go far for sure!
One of my favourite videos on the whole of UA-cam.

That made me cry. The song always gets to me, but something about her delivery and the audience enraptured by her did me in.
+Michael D. Jackson Thank you. I thaught that I was the only one that cryed.
i totally agree. You have a beautiful voice and a great choice of music. I expect great things from you!!!
Absolutely amazing voice for a 10 year old Her rendition of Vera Lynn is incredibel.
I'm genuinely impressed. She chose a beloved, heartfelt UK song and delivered a stellar performance. Brilliant. A 10 year old singing in front of thousands, like she 's done it a dozen times before. Dressed like the cute little girl she is.
She brought the Merlin engine scrambled in my heart.
Wow! What a beautiful voice and a wonderful song to sing. "The White Cliffs of Dover" is a wonderful song. She has an old style singing voice that is soulful and rich. I want to wish her the very best in life.
Pretty proud to say this girl goes to my school;) x
I used to sing this to my grandmother when I was 6 years old... brought tears to my eyes... brilliant that a young one keeps this song alive.
Such a touching song, she sings it so beautifully her family must be so proud. Its unusual for such a young lady to love such an old style of music- let alone know who Vera Lynn is!
Melody? MELODY! ! What a concept! Bottle it and pass it around. I wish it'd catch on! ! !

Hi this is Chloe thanx for your comments. See me on my new channel, any requests let me know. Cheers Chloe xxxxx
Chloe, you are absolutely magnificent !
It was wonderful to hear such an old song packed with nostalgic memories. I would so love for that kind of music to come back again. If only we could regain that spirit once again. Unfortunately I think it's gone forever...
that was truly beautiful!
Beautiful. There are not many Adults who could pull off that wonderful song. Keep going little one!
OMG amazing! She had a normal 10 year old girl voice and then she goes and just blasts this amazing song out!! I love it :)
absolutely incredible!
What a wonderful performance. A winner 🏆 for sure!
Nicely done young lady.
Excellent performance Chloe - you stay on track and diligent with your talent - please. We all need a gal like you singing now, just like everyone needed Vera back then. Ms. Lynn, I suspect, would be really proud.
A star is born. Wonderful, fantastic and much more. Congrats!!!!
U
If you are ever having a rough day, this IS the place to come to. WOW!
The lyrics in fact referred to the RAF and RCAF fighter pilots (in their blue uniforms) as "bluebirds" and expresses confidence that they shall prevail during the dark days of the Battle of Britain.
what a nice soft spoken and beautiful kid and on top of that she is an awesome singer so good luck and i wish her all best !!!
Fantastic :)
She's amazing and I'm 11 I can't sing better than her. Great job!☺
Her grandma is literally what made this video
+Lychee The Fruit Keep in mind that her grandma wouldn't be here if not for chloe. :)
I get misty-eyed every time I hear this. It's "tomorrow" and the world still isn't free.
The ' bluebirds ' is a reference to the RAF and RCAF figther pilots to wore blue uniforms.
+dennis gk maybe but I doubt it - -the song obviously refers to the time AFTER the war when the war planes would NO LONGER be over the White Cliffs.
I pray this child get's somewhere with a wonderful voice. With beautiful music by Vera Lynn. Keep up the great work, sweetie!
She is like England's version of Judy Garland. Talented child.

Yay
Definitely not Judy Garland, Judy Garland had a much stronger voice.
I m crying every time when I watch this clip. that great song for the deeply hard time of our people, She warming up my heart,
I miss you pilots and thank you to fight for us and I miss you Spitfire. Thank you very much.
"Right. I'll have 100.000 pounds worth of leggings, please!"
A really beautiful natural voice. Not many people can sing like that.
What r parents feeding these kids nowadays?
lol...
A beautiful child with a voice like that would be perfect in a Disney movie with singing parts. She has the right looks for it. WHAT A VOICE!
R I P Vera Lynn
I HAD GOOSEBUMPS FROM START TO FINISH. REALLY GLAD I FOLLOWED THE LINK.

She is indeed spectacular. Like you I think she is forcing some notes and hope she gets a good voice coach. Best wishes to Chloe!
This is just so great! This song has such history tied to it.
Her name sounds like a character right out of Harry Potter. The cousin of Neville Longbottom
I think it is a Brit thing...
She looks a little like Ginny Weasley.
Amazing voice! You are going to make it far! Good luck love!
She's way better than Hollie Steel
Holly who? lol
mike travis She was another contestant.
Yes, but is she better than Holly Jervais?
+Rosie Baldwin Hollie has more range. She could never sing high notes like Hollie.
This girl has the range of an adult contralto whiel Hollie is a soprano.

so what. she sings the song great.
My opening statement was "Great singing" What were you thinking that means?

Every time I look at some of the older clips I remember how much I don't like Piers Morgan.
I grew up in the south of England during the war years when Vera Lynn sang it , and this rendition made this 73 year old bloke bl@@dy well cry.
No offense but I don't think she was very good
I think she did really really well but yeah, not like they made it out to be. I wonder what Simon would've said. But at ten years old I think that's very impressive.
Gemma Pettersen
She's got the voice; not the technique. But that means she's got potential.

No offence taken even a nobody is entitled to their opinion ! I agree with the positive comments
She is ten years old, what did you do at that age!? Complaining about bad stuff at TV!?

She made soooo many mistakes!!
BeccaIdkk she 10 years old in that age what do you do???complain about people in tv

I was caught by surprise here! It moved me to tears. Fantastic job!
I think this young lady Chloe if a film about our great Vera she should play her no doubt fantastic.
