Ravel's piano miniature, once very warmly received by critics, is a work that stimulates the imagination. Simply put, it's about water. Ravel uses the texture of the piano very well, creating an undulating and vibrating image of water flowing over the stones of the fountain. At some points you can even see the reflections of light dancing on the surface of the water and really feel the refreshing tiny drops on your face. Ravel achieved something extraordinary by creating a work of such intense color with only a piano at his disposal.
/Swego czasu bardzo ciepło przyjęta przez krytyków miniatura fortepianowa Ravela to utwór bardzo mocno pobudzający wyobraźnię. Opowiada, najprościej mówiąc, o wodzie. Ravel niezwykle trafnie operuje fakturą fortepianową, tworząc falujący i rozedrgany obraz wody, spływającej po kamieniach fontanny. W niektórych momentach można wręcz zobaczyć refleksy światła tańczące na tafli wody i naprawdę poczuć na twarzy orzeźwiające drobne kropelki. Ravel dokonał czegoś niezwykłego, tworząc dzieło tak mocno mieniące się kolorami, mając do dyspozycji jedynie fortepian. /
