Just a comment to list the certs that apply to different Career Fields. Looking up the certs will better explain the different cyber jobs than the airce force job listing. Computer Systems Ops - MCSA Cyber Transport - CCNA Routing and Switching Cyber Surety - CISSP
I want to build computers and coding and eventually hacking, when I looked at cyber systems operations it says “you’ll utilize the latest technology while designing, installing and supporting our computer and software systems and protect from cyber attacks” is this not what you do? Cuz if I don’t learn to build computers and systems and coding and stuff I won’t be happy lol.
The air force teaches everything from the ground up as if you have never known in your life. As long as you can pay attention and study hard you should be fine. 3D0X2 is a server administration job at the base level. Client systems does the more hands on stuff with computers. Hacking is a whole other career field you have to cross train into but im sure when you get in they won't be against you learning.
Hacking takes a lot of training in coding, power shell commands, networking, and many other types of knowledge in figuring out how to find different exploits. As far as building computers that's something easy. Find a computer take it apart and rebuild it. Lol I did that when I was 10.
Don't use autofocus btw, or if you do, make sure you have a solid background or it will constantly try to change the focus and make the video blurry quite often
About to get my computer science degree been applying to interns but I don’t have experience. Goal is to join airforce reserves finish my degree become officer then gain experience in the cyber security field so when I get out airforce I’ll be able to get a civilian job since my resume? My question is will the hands on experience be good or look good on my resume compared to internships
Any experience is good experience, As long as you stay driven and keep evolving and learning you should be fine. Just dont become stagnant and find a job where you are in position to constantly be learning. If the air force is the glove that fits that role then go for it!
Im in the process of enlisting and I’m leaning towards a cyber job. The job I want it says that have to have a certain score in the General & Electrical sections of the ASVAB & I need a 60 on the “Cyber Test”. I’d never heard of it and couldn’t find any information on this test online. Could someone explain what it is & how should I prepare for it?
@Dj Toney: Study up on computer wires and how some online connections work. Study how online phone calls and email servers work and what happens when they're not connected. It wasn't more technical than that. I didn't study for it and knew most of the information or could piece together an answer. Took it in March so info is current. Don't worry about it too much either way, it's just easier to study for the Electical section of the ASVAB and score more than well enough for it. Took cyber test but scored more than enough in G & E. In the same process as you and applying for same job. Best of luck!
really awesome video looking into doing this in the Air Force meeting my Air Force recruiter next week. Question: what are some related civilian jobs for this job in the outside world. Thank you so much and keep up the good work!
Hey Jonathan Sullivan, i have a Bachelor degree in computer technology and networking. My question is do i go for the Air force life and try an get a job in cyber security or do i l look for a job in the civilian life?
If you want the Air Force to pay for mostly everything and you want to serve your country while getting the experience you studied for, go for it. It’s a lot of commitment tho. Trying to go into this same field.
I cant answer that question for you, its your life so you have to do what you think is the best. The air force isn't really going to care about your degree unless you are an officer but it will give you time to plan for your future.
idk if you’ll read this as the video is pretty old but i’ve got a few questions that makes sense with the timeframe. 1. Are you still with the air force, if so what is your rank now? 2. If not, what was your entry starting wage at a civilian job? I’m just trying to figure out in the mid-long term if it’ll be worth it to stay with the air force after initial enlistment or if it’s better to go for a sysad job right after.
I got out in early 2021, I started school immediately for graphic design with the GI Bill (I already did this as a “side”job for years, just wanted the degree) and am about to graduate in June. Mid 2023 I decided to get back into to sysadmin/IT work. In September I got a job as a sysadmin for 115k on an information assurance team. IT pays well, it can get old, but it is a good career choice while you focus on whatever else you wanna do if anything. I dont plan on doing this forever because I’m mostly passionate about art, but this pays more for now
@@Sk8Gnarley thats actually funny because im going the opposite route, i started as a graphic design major but i found out university wasnt the best environment for me. thats really good to hear though about the wages for jobs after the air force
@@Sk8Gnarley i honestly would rather pick a sysad job than graphic design job just based on the wages, but I guess it is determined a lot by your location, around my hometown graphic design jobs with a degree start between 60-75k
@@Stupidtony21 I am a self taught designer and school has been terrible for it. Its almost made me a worse designer, I have to make sure I unlearn everything every step of the way. Im really just going for the paper and cause the GI Bill helps pay my mortgage lol
I would love to join and get that same job that you have, but I don't want to risk getting shoved into a job that I don't want to do. I am currently looking into getting the Sec+ and CCNA certs, but I also want to get the discipline that comes with joining the military. I'm at a fork in my life and I don't know which way to go. :/
Honestly you don't have to join if you don't get the job you want. They literally cannot force you to sign the job contract you know what I mean. I think you should do whatever you think is the best for you and your life!
Thanks for the video, and the details. I was looking for an IT specialist job and I couldn’t find it exactly on the Air Force website. Did the Air Force pay for your certifications or are they mandatory to complete? Did you get all the major certifications? A plus, security plus? Network ect?
Sec+ Is required for some 3D jobs. The air force pays for it and its the last step in passing tech school. The air force also gives you $4,500 a year to get more certs ask about it when you get to your first base!
Hi Jonathan, I noticed that you were glad that you didn't get the Cyber Surety job because it wasn't what you really wanted. So what does Cyber Surety do compared to Cyber Systems Operations? I know from your video that Systems is more toward server administration. The reason I'm asking is because I'm leaning more towards Cyber Surety, but I don't want to make the choice blindfolded. I've checked out the information from the Air Force website about both. Also is Operations Intelligence (1N0X1) similar to Cyber Surety, but leaning more towards a "Data Science"-centric job?
I cant give specifics about what surety does because I have never done it or seen the training, but I know they deal with information assurance and security and things alike. My job is related to server administration like keeping websites up, but the job really just depends on what duty station you end up at because you really just do what you are told but it will always generally be in the IT field obviously. I have no clue for 1N0X1 but I can tell you that it is not considered an IT field because all the IT AFSC's start with 3D. We are known and called 3D's. Thanks for the comment!
Jonathan Sullivan Thanks man, I also found out about 1B4X1 which is Cyberspace Operations and is pretty cool where they have missions. I found out it's a retrain job, so airmen need to pass the Electronic Data Processing Test.
What about penetration testing, the actual hacking tools, do you guys do that as well or is that different position and if so what is the name of that position. There’s so many cyber positions and I want to know which one actually offers the penetration testing, thanks.
Im going into the AF under the electrical aptitude area, but I really only want to do Cyber Transport systems. what are the chances I will get the job with an electrical score of 96
Nobody would know the chances, just gotta hope for the best and decline contracts till you get what you want. Recruiter do not like when you do that though so be weary.
I want to be either a tacp or even cct but becoming a systems operations operator is something that I also want to do and it would be the best career for me to transfer to what I want to do in a civilian career so could you explain how that would transfer over to civilian careers
I can't explain because the job you do at the base you end up at can differ form place to place. With the experience you can pretty much apply to any IT job because cyber sytems ops is such a broad career field. If you learn a lot and gain a lot of skills you can pretty much do whatever you set your mind to!
Eric Dean the only one that is required is Sec+ so as long as you have that, you simply will complete all of the other non related courses and skip over the sec+ part of tech school which essentially means you get graduate 2 weeks earlier. You can work on whatever certs you like with your free time but you cant replace sec+ with ccna etc etc. once you get to your base thats the best time to focus on getting other certs and things alike.
How long did it take before you got your top secret? I’m waiting for my technschool and basic dates but I need to at least have most my clearance started. I have my interim at the moment. Also, what would be the civi version of the job? Is it networking or more system administration?
I talk about that process in my new QnA video you should check it out! The civilian version of this job would most likely be just system admin or server admin.
CheifChan they teach you from scratch, as if you never knew however you gotta learn pretty quick and its easier if you have prior knowledge about computers even the basics
@@Sk8Gnarley alright nice because army has a job like this (17Cmos) and reddit ate me alive for asking if I could get in without certifications, college, etc.
I cant remember all I had but I had Scott, McChord and Nellis for sure. I ended up getting Scott which was like my number 4? There is no info about how that system works besides the basics. When I was in tech school and got my base they were talking about how the bases that picked people up changed frequently and how there were like set groups of bases per class or something like that. BUT in no way is that accurate otherwise I would tell you for sure. It literally is random as for us so dont get your hopes up at all. When we all got our bases in my class its was a ton of Oklahoma and Texas, a couple Illinois (at Scott), like one Japan and one Virginia. It is all based on what bases need what and when so you'll just have to see. I'm glad you are stoked on the job it has been awesome this far! Congrats and good luck!
Great video! Thanks so much! I ship out to bmt on Aug. 28 under general index. They told me to list 8 jobs when I get to basic under G. I scored an 88 in E and 80 in G, also general was my second index area I had to list. What do you think likelihood is that I get this job if I list as my number one? Why wouldn’t you have liked cyber surety? Thanks!
B_McD you are going in general? There is really no way to tell what job youll end up with as in no solid proof you know what I mean you just kinda send the list and hope, those are good scores though, also thank you for watching and good luck on your journey!
More than likely you'll be going into maintenance. Air Force is hurting for maintainers. I would know as I used to be one for 10 years on 16s and 22s. Now cross-training to 3d0X2 (thank goodness).
Hey bro, quick question: What's the difference between "Cyber Systems Operations" and "Computer Systems Programming". I can't find a definitive answer smh. Any help will be appreciated
I dont really know exactly what surety does. They do something with information assurance and opsec I believe but you have to research that stuff yourself! I am a server administrator and I know that they aren't so thats a pretty big difference there, thanks for the comment.
How was your experience with the dream sheet with this job? Would you say you have a better chance of being stationed stateside or overseas with this job?
I've never heard of anything like that my recruiter never mentioned anything like that, and I dont think ive met anyone who had to take soemthing like that either, sorry I cant give a more solid answer!
Definitely looking into this job, just waiting on a meps date! so did you have to take any extra tests? Did you have to go through a top secret clearance, and was there any type of polygraph testing you had to go through to get this job? -thanks!
Nice! The only test I took was the asvab, you do get top secret but it takes a long time through bmt, tech school and into your first base its just a process. There is no polygraph for our job but there can be other factors that play into that based off where you go and what you do but ive never heard of one. Thanks for watching!
LA SCAR Tech School for this job is about 4 months if you pass everything on time, and its at Keesler afb in Mississippi. The way the air force works is throughout all training they teach you as if you know nothing so if you can out in the work and study you should be fine, its not that bad if you put in the work! I know some people who have barley used computers and they made it through just fine.
Hey man, so I'm kinda in the same boat as you were. I'm not really sure about the specific Cyber job I want. I'm thinking the Airforce is the best way to get the training I want though. I saw the Cyber surety job and was thinking about that but what you're doing sounds great. Can you tell me what you personally didn't like about Cyber surety?
Cyber surety is a lot about opsec, enforcing policy and other types of security. I wanted to be a bit more hands on (even with virtual machines), rather than just enforcing policy. Cyber surety is important, but I wanted to work on the systems.
Thanks for the information! I’m looking into picking my top 8 jobs and I’m interested in going into cyber jobs although I don’t have any background experience in this field. Do you think it’ll be okay to have no knowledge and go into Tech school? Or should I be studying a bit prior?
I got cyber surety. My ship date is in April 2020. I thought it was going to be more hands on but I’m just now realizing it most likely won’t be. I don’t exactly know how I feel about that. I’m somewhat okay with it bc I don’t want anything overly stressful since I want to work on getting my bachelors. I can study for my clep & dssts without getting overwhelmed. What do you think?
@@truliak I got to tech school March 1st and I’m still here until October latest. 💀 I would say it’s a great job and one of the best career fields you can get into. But tech school will take a long time here. It’s lots of school, tests, and studying. That being said though I’m not the smartest guy and had ZERO tech/IT experience before this and I’m doing very well. So it’s doable if you study and put the work in. I’m excited to finally go operational after this school. And I’ll be set up very nice in the civilian world when I get out👍🏽 3 years military Cyber/IT experience, associates in IT, SEC+ certification, and Top Secret clearance with the government. You can do so much with this anywhere you go and make lots.
@@truliak Yes it’s Network System Ops. The AFSC itself is 1D7X1A. I study for class about 2-3 times a week. Maybe an hour or less each time depending on how tough the material is. That’s just me though. Some people need to study a lot more, some grasp the material quickly and do not study as much. One thing I will say though is STUDY STUDY STUDY for SEC+. It will be the hardest test you have to pass while being here and it’s a requirement to get certified if you want this job. There are books, online practice tests, etc. Professor Messer on UA-cam has very good videos that cover SEC+. The sooner you start the better. I have not yet taken that test but I know what it entails and how the test is structured. It’s tough and not something you can just wing it and pass.
Do you anything about the Cyber test? I got a general score of 57 but I was reading on the air force website that if I score a 60 on the cyber test I can get that job
All I know is it has a lot to do with information assurance, my roommate was Surety and he had to study the crap out of this binder for one of his classes at tech school. Thats all I know though! In the future ill look into doing an interview with someone in that career field because I get asked this a lot!
What was your experience like when getting the TS security clearance? I've heard of people wait 4 months to a year, but nobody ever specifies if that time is during BMT and Tech School or if they have to wait in the DEP longer. I'm also just super afraid that if I get the job that I will somehow mess up in the process of filing for the clearance level.
i read this: " Completion of Cyber Systems Operations Initial Skills course " on the USAF website for this job and was wondering what it meant? is this something you have to do to qualify for this job?
Tanner Compton I’ve seen a computer programming position that doesn’t require a degree. I’ve heard people say that they train you in the field your going into in the military. Which would be cool to get trained as a programmer. I’m going to school for computer science but I’d like to work in a field where I can focus on it more day into day out to get better at it.
I’ve been kinda on the fence about joining the Air Force because I have a associates in Cybersecurity and Network Administration and it’s been kinda hard to get a job. Been looking at the Air Force as maybe a push idk do you think I should go for it?
I think you should do whatever makes you happy in your life. If you work hard enough you can make anything happen. This was the right route for me to set up my future in art etc. and it also gave me the job security that I needed for a few years! Just stay persistent!
Hey for some jobs there are mandatory 6 year contracts. Example, for navy submarine nuclear ☢️ specialist idk what the AFSC is but that position is only available under a 6 year contract.
coolmusic49 depends on what kind of place you end up in. We can go almost anywhere that has comm. Air operations, intel, base comm all do different things and work on different systems.
This job not so much, but it depends on what unit and base you end up at. There are guys who do that specific job though so I would doubt you do that on a day to day basis as a 3D0X2
I just found out that I got cyber transport systems 3D1x2 and I leave at the end of August. I was just wondering if you know anything about that field?
I unfortunately dont know about that field but ive heard people like it! You should let me know what tech school is like im curious! Good luck with everything!
Its not the type of job that I wanted in the IT career field. I wanted a very hands on, working on computers job and thats what cyberops is for me this far ya know.
Have you seen any prior service in your career? I’m currently in the Marines EASing in a couple of months but I’m trying to join the Air Force specifically for this job.
There are signing bonuses for certain jobs, however at the most basic level we are paid base pay across the air force. Other things play into pay like housing allowance, family separation (if you are away from dependents), BAS (for food), hazardous pay (if you are deployed in a hot zone) etc. Base pay is just determined by ranks and time in service just google 2020 military pay chart and youll find a table.
Almost any IT or computer science degree will help correlate with this job. If you are looking more into the cyber security field, than that would be more 1B4X1 Cyber Warfare Operations
Will I be able to have enough time to go to my mma gym and compete here and there as an amateur eventually going pro? Will I have to stay at the specified base I'm stationed at or can I always change locations? Thank you so much in advance!
You will definitely have time off to do whatever you want. MMA might be something you bring up to safety though because you dont wanna get in trouble if you get hurt. You can move to other bases, its a weird process though.
in the official page of the airforce is a video game combined with a somewhat IQ test that im in the top 15 but the leaderboards do not refresh or put me where i should be. ( i mean its okay i just wondered if you knew something about it, since you are in the servers)ty for responding anyways
Yo! I'm a reservist right meow thinking about cross training to a cyber job. So my question is would being a cyber security airman help you with getting a civ cyber security job??
Did you get a certification in CompTIA A+ CompTIA Network+ CompTIA Security+ Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) CISCO Certified Networking Associate (CCNA)
Chayane Torres when you get the Cyber Operations job (3d032) we have to pass the Security+ CompTIA test to graduate tech school. The other weeks we learn a ton about cyber security as well. Its not our job at all but we do learn the knowledge you know what I mean?
I've never been a computer savy person but would actually like to learn. Would this be a job that could be taught to someone who isn't knowledgable about computers?
Yes definitely, the air force basically starts all of its training as if you are day 1, you do have to learn fast and have good study skills but Its 100% possible and the resources are endless to learn.

Just a comment to list the certs that apply to different Career Fields. Looking up the certs will better explain the different cyber jobs than the airce force job listing.
Computer Systems Ops - MCSA
Cyber Transport - CCNA Routing and Switching
Cyber Surety - CISSP
I was thinking either this job or Cyber Transport Systems. Not really sure yet
Also I’m not very computer literate. I mainly use my phone for everything. Should I basically give up on that idea of being in the cyber field?
The air force teaches everything from the ground up as if you have never known in your life. As long as you can pay attention and study hard you should be fine. 3D0X2 is a server administration job at the base level. Client systems does the more hands on stuff with computers. Hacking is a whole other career field you have to cross train into but im sure when you get in they won't be against you learning.
Which would you recommend for cross training to hacking? Like is there one MOS that will give you an advantage to get in over others?
Joshua Warren start as a 3d0x2 and then cross train into 1b.

I never had to do that so Id take Juan's advice, Good luck! let me know what happens
really awesome video looking into doing this in the Air Force meeting my Air Force recruiter next week. Question: what are some related civilian jobs for this job in the outside world. Thank you so much and keep up the good work!
Also are u active or reserve duty? thank u so much!!!!
How is 3D0x2 different than 1B4x1? Do you have to pass Sec+ and EDPT for 3D0x2? What about 1B4x1 if you know about it?
I also want to work with computers and tech , I hope I like it I enjoy Technology alot I'm guessing it's a in demand job
Its a pretty chill job, the hours are usually great and we can go to most bases. Good luck!
Great video! Only complaint would be the music Xd
YES! This is the job I'm looking for. Any tips on increasing the chances or the likelihood that you will get this job?
Theres really no way to increase chances sorry! Just say no until you get it an hopefully it doesn't piss off your recruiter!
@@Sk8Gnarley Thanks a lot brotha👍🏼 I'm gonna go in check it out
Thanks for the video, and the details.
I found out it's a retrain job, so airmen need to pass the
Electronic Data Processing Test.
What if you already have entry lvl certs like A+,Net, and Sec? Like at tech school would I be able to work on CCNA?
Eric Dean the only one that is required is Sec+ so as long as you have that, you simply will complete all of the other non related courses and skip over the sec+ part of tech school which essentially means you get graduate 2 weeks earlier. You can work on whatever certs you like with your free time but you cant replace sec+ with ccna etc etc. once you get to your base thats the best time to focus on getting other certs and things alike.
Jonathan Sullivan thanks for the reply man, really informative!
Eric Dean glad I can help! Thank you
How long did it take before you got your top secret? I’m waiting for my technschool and basic dates but I need to at least have most my clearance started. I have my interim at the moment.
Also, what would be the civi version of the job? Is it networking or more system administration?
I talk about that process in my new QnA video you should check it out! The civilian version of this job would most likely be just system admin or server admin.
Do you need experience in this field or will they train you from scratch. I only know a little programming
Some people love to just be negative. All about that positive energy here all questions are welcomed.
Hey, dude! What bases did you have on your dream sheet? Did you get what you wanted? I'm also booking 3D0X2 and I'm pretty stoked about it honestly.
Nice! Hopefully I get my dream base or at least be able to trade bases with someone else at tech school.
I was curious if the training or tech schools you complete are the equivalent of I.T certification. Compartía A+, security +, CCNA etc.
In tech school you have to pass the COMPTia Security+ cert, if you cant pass it you get booted to another joh
Dang.. so what did you think happens if I join with CompTIA A+, security +, CCNA AND PMP(Project management Professional) lol
Any help will be appreciated
he liked it but didn't respond oof...
Cyber systems Ops is server and computer administration. Programming is writing code for websites, software and applications.
@Tyler Lindahl Ops for sure. It deals with a lot more things, and it translates into a lot of different types of jobs on the outside.
what would be the difference between cyber surety and what you do in cyber systems operations?
I dont really know exactly what surety does. They do something with information assurance and opsec I believe but you have to research that stuff yourself! I am a server administrator and I know that they aren't so thats a pretty big difference there, thanks for the comment.
did you had any experience at cyber elements on they taught you completely from the beginning?
How was your experience with the dream sheet with this job? Would you say you have a better chance of being stationed stateside or overseas with this job?
Did you have to take the cyber test that says is required if you score less than a G64 the test they says is required if you score at least a G54
I've never heard of anything like that my recruiter never mentioned anything like that, and I dont think ive met anyone who had to take soemthing like that either, sorry I cant give a more solid answer!
Jonathan Sullivan what was your asvab score in general (g)
Awesome video! Quick question, can you do this and be in school (online of course) at the same time or is that a no go?
Yeah you can start doing school as soon as you finish your cdc's!
Awesome! Thanks for the info :)
Awesome! Also how long was the tech school, where is it at? and do you think it would be terribly hard for someone who isn't as tech savvy?
LA SCAR Tech School for this job is about 4 months if you pass everything on time, and its at Keesler afb in Mississippi. The way the air force works is throughout all training they teach you as if you know nothing so if you can out in the work and study you should be fine, its not that bad if you put in the work! I know some people who have barley used computers and they made it through just fine.
Does this job have a lot of coding or programming which IT job doesn’t require any of it
No but there is a job for programming, its 3D0X4.
Think its a good job and you have a great plan, good luck and stay determined!
My dream job 😂 good luck.
What is job availability like for this AFSC? Also, I know you need a good ASVAB score, but are you likely to get this jobs with no tech experience?
You need a 60 in Electrical I believe. And pass the color vision test. I’m shipping out in January for this job.
@@Mateo-vo4cyhow is it so far
@@Mateo-vo4cy good stuff bro. and the job is called network system operations now right? also how long would you say you study each day?
I have no idea, when I went in they never said anything about a cyber test. I just got the job from scoring above the minimum on general.
Do you have anything information on cyber security/surety ? I can’t find any
All I know is it has a lot to do with information assurance, my roommate was Surety and he had to study the crap out of this binder for one of his classes at tech school. Thats all I know though! In the future ill look into doing an interview with someone in that career field because I get asked this a lot!
Jonathan Sullivan yes cause nobody talks about it your job I see a lot of videos but cyber surety I don’t see any thing
Nevermind, just found your video on this subject lol
I'm glad you did! Sorry for the late reply, Good luck!
i read this: " Completion of Cyber Systems Operations Initial Skills course " on the USAF website for this job and was wondering what it meant? is this something you have to do to qualify for this job?
is the tech school for this afsc still the same? i know cyber jobs are trending towards the self taught blocks. Thanks!
I dont know I'm not there anymore! It's probably very similar though.
Do you have to have any extensive prior knowledge of this stuff to get this job, or do they train you in this field?
im looking for the same answer, bruh. i feel you
Tanner Compton I’ve seen a computer programming position that doesn’t require a degree. I’ve heard people say that they train you in the field your going into in the military. Which would be cool to get trained as a programmer. I’m going to school for computer science but I’d like to work in a field where I can focus on it more day into day out to get better at it.
I had prior knowledge but the contract was all kind of luck, they don't really take prior knowledge into enlisting.
I’ve been kinda on the fence about joining the Air Force because I have a associates in Cybersecurity and Network Administration and it’s been kinda hard to get a job. Been looking at the Air Force as maybe a push idk do you think I should go for it?
Angel Esquivel yes
I think you should do whatever makes you happy in your life. If you work hard enough you can make anything happen. This was the right route for me to set up my future in art etc. and it also gave me the job security that I needed for a few years! Just stay persistent!
I'm looking for the best route to Cyber Warfare Operations. would 3D0X2 be the best stepping stone towards Cyber Warfare Operations? Great video!
Yes I believe so, I would ask your recruiter and see if they know, but its definitely one of the 3D jobs.
I'm about to enlist into the airforce. If I need a 64. Is Asvab for dummies a good help to score that high
It helped me a lot, there is tons of study material out there but that is just what I used. Good luck!
Thanks for the explanation man. I’m looking at cross training. Have you seen any guys that have been able to cross train in?
I just finished cross training into this career field. If you got any questions let me know
Hey man, settling a dispute. Is there a 6 year contract requirement? As in, can you do 4 year contract for your mos or do you HAVE to do 6?
Seth Skaggs i am a 4 year contract that is not true lol
Hey for some jobs there are mandatory 6 year contracts. Example, for navy submarine nuclear ☢️ specialist idk what the AFSC is but that position is only available under a 6 year contract.
how long was your tech school?
How well does this job translate to civilian jobs? Are jobs plentiful and do they pay well?
Translates extremely well if you learn a lot while you’re in and build a good resume. Tons of job options with really good pay, pretty much everywhere
How much do you need to know about IT getting into it? Thanks!
Does this job require you to do and network engineering?
coolmusic49 depends on what kind of place you end up in. We can go almost anywhere that has comm. Air operations, intel, base comm all do different things and work on different systems.
This job not so much, but it depends on what unit and base you end up at. There are guys who do that specific job though so I would doubt you do that on a day to day basis as a 3D0X2
Do you know what bases offer these jobs? Or I guess what states?
most cyber jobs are very widespread, this one is super widespread.
where do you go after graduating from Corey
my MTL is in your thumbnail 😂
I just found out that I got cyber transport systems 3D1x2 and I leave at the end of August. I was just wondering if you know anything about that field?
I unfortunately dont know about that field but ive heard people like it! You should let me know what tech school is like im curious! Good luck with everything!
how long did it take you to ship out after joining
What about cyber surety do you think you wouldn’t like?
Its not the type of job that I wanted in the IT career field. I wanted a very hands on, working on computers job and thats what cyberops is for me this far ya know.
Have you seen any prior service in your career? I’m currently in the Marines EASing in a couple of months but I’m trying to join the Air Force specifically for this job.
Few but I’ve seen some. In my personal experience I have seen a Navy and Marine prior in this career field.
Do you get paid strictly from rank or does the job you learn have anything to do with that and if so how much does Cyper Operations make?
There are signing bonuses for certain jobs, however at the most basic level we are paid base pay across the air force. Other things play into pay like housing allowance, family separation (if you are away from dependents), BAS (for food), hazardous pay (if you are deployed in a hot zone) etc. Base pay is just determined by ranks and time in service just google 2020 military pay chart and youll find a table.
I am majoring in Computer networks and cyber security . I was wondering if this job would fit with what I am doing.
Almost any IT or computer science degree will help correlate with this job. If you are looking more into the cyber security field, than that would be more 1B4X1 Cyber Warfare Operations
Will I be able to have enough time to go to my mma gym and compete here and there as an amateur eventually going pro?
