Cousins would always look for the check down as pass protection broke down. Darnold is HUNTING downfield for yardage, and with the best wr duo in the league that's a smart bet.
Packers fan here, any bias aside, I don't think he's a franchise QB. He's got the numbers but also take away a very elite offensive scheme and receiving skill players of JJ, Aaron Jones, Addison, and Hockenson and I think he would make more mistakes and turnovers. Most QBs don't have that. Aaron Rodgers maybe goes full Brett Favre and plays for y'all next year xD. Don't think he would be bad there either for a year or two if the vikings want to try to win now, the Jets bring the worst out of anyone.
@@Frequently1 If you have watched Vikings this year, Sam is not throwing to wide open receivers and his O-line is terrible So I totally disagree, KOC's scheme is having Sam throw downfield a lot. He leads the NFL in 20+ yard completions. Aaron Rodgers?? Dude I don't even know what to sat about that.
@@jessemontgomery8987 I disagree. Yes he had a great game against Atlanta but I feel like that game he benefited more from wide open receivers and blown coverage. His first game against the Bears that went into OT was a QB clinic and this Seattle game was as good as any Sam Darnold game I have seen.
@ one’s ceiling isn’t a particular game but rather one’s ability to process what is happening on the field and then execute accordingly. In this way Sam is, I believe, getting better. Happy Holidays to you and your family!!🎄🙏
Also anyone who says “anyone could do well with these weapons” like you said is lying to themselves, or did not watch the Vikings after Kirk was hurt last year. Mullens and dobbs struggled last year. Very up and down. Sam’s consistency shows that he is for real and not a fluke.
@@lukelee3 Winning us two straight games against the Falcons and Saints with Josh Dobbs under center that everyone expected we would lose ugly. That was the whole point where people realized KOC could produce something out of basically nothing. I 'member. The way the rest of that year fell apart does not strip the memory of how those games felt.
@@InchonDM that was all dobbs. Running around and the team wasn't ready for him, he had almost 0 knowledge of the playbook. Mullens and hall won 0 games while with the team and playbook from the beginning of training camp. He's no qb whisperer.
The thing that’s exciting about Darnold is that he has a high ceiling. Unlike Kirk, he is athletic, good arm like you said. Reading the field and making the right throws can be learned over time. We’ve seen it with Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. People forget both Allen and Lamar struggled their first year. Especially Allen, people were calling him a bust his rookie year. Yet they had the Athleticism, the arm. They just needed time to get reps, learn nfl defenses and get accustomed to nfl speed. Making the right throws limiting mistakes. Just takes reps, time, and a good coaching staff. Darnold spent the entire last season learning under Kyle shanhan and Brock Purdy. It shouldn’t be shocking that someone who was a #3 overall pick is now putting it together after finally having a good coaching staff, weapons, and reps under his belt. I don’t think this is a fluke season either, outside of the jags game he has been consistently solid all year, against good defenses as well. He could take us far in the playoffs this year. The only thing that worries me is the lack of playoff experience. Sure he went to the Super Bowl last year but as a backup. Not the same as being there and doing that.
The discourse in the off-season about should they resign him or not is gonna be crazy. Personally, I say tag him and let JJ sit for one more year. The kid is only 21 and totally unproven in the NfL
People acting like any qb could do what sam is doing. Vikings currently have 1 all pro on offense, Jefferson. Thats it. 49ers had 6 all pro's on offense in the superbowl and lost.

Because he did have bad games. The Jets and especially the Jaguars games were bad games.

The key and what most are missing is that Sam Darnold is getting better and that we haven't seen Sam's ceiling yet! Jet fan here..
Nah, his ceiling is probably the Falcons game.

Good QBs make the pass to the open receiver. Great QBs throw the receiver open

Sam is constantly working the pocket which opens things up down field. Cousins would just get rid of the ball or take a sack. 2022 final play.
😮 Goff makes the Pro Bowl, as does Darnold, except Darnold wont be available.
Great breakdown and you took the exact clips of the throws in the game that I noticed. Great job!!!
There is just so much trust built up between darnold and his weapons he's the guy they want passing him the ball
