A standing ovation in my living room.... magnificent.
This is by far my favorite classical symphony. I have the 1984 recording with Eugene Ormandy conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra, Michael Murray, Organist.
I can't express my love for this piece and it is so awesome that you included the preparaton as it demonstrates to me the effort put into performing this piece, but I truly love it: it's majestic and awe-inspiring!
Those who disliked this video, must have done so, because they were so thrilled to bits with listening to it that they mishit the like button!

Dear Gert , I thought for one moment I was in heaven, listening to you playing this expressive and demanding piece of music was exciting , thrilling and wonderful you played it perfectly . I pray that before I go to heaven I will watch and hear you play here in Australia . I know exactly what you mean. I had the privilege of meeting Gert and Marjolein in England 2017. I travelled from Northern Ireland for the concert. It was worth every penny. They announced their engagement at the concert.
I really like when Gert shows his preparations for a selection he will perform. Planning for the concert is just as important as the performance.
There is at least one thing evident for me - In spite of Gert has reached the very high level, He is still progressing year by year, so there is no limits to perfection.
Gert/Marjoleine can sure tame these monster organs ! Fantastic keyboard/pedalboard work! Joy to hear and see!

En Marjolein, u was zo-o-o aandachtig gedurende de repetitie (rehearsal in English) EN de uitvoering (performance in English) dat allebei u waren de beste, mooiste, allerliefste EN verliefde team!!!!

I have heard this one as a symphony performance with organ back up. Here Gert plays the whole thing on the organ. It does not get better than this. Brought tears to my eyes.

Obviously, the playing is masterful.. But this instrument and Jonathan Scott's arrangement makes the piece phenomenal.. Never have I heard better

Saint Sean’s composed this piece for a full orchestra with an organ! It has hardly any organ in the first 3 movements only the 4 th the organ wakens up with some mighty chords! One of the best recordings is in the BBC proms at the Albert hall in London ! Full fff blasting out the pipes with bang crash percussion brings it to a mountain of sound! Can’t remember which orchestra Vidor something. ??? Gert handles the whole as a solo organ ! Not an easy task! Well done Gert! Fraser/Elsa

Thank you, Gert, for sharing your performance here. This work is very familiar to my ears, one of my all-time favorites, and has been so since I first heard it in 1973. Your command of the instrument assures the listener will hear all the possible resources from ppp to fff. Thank you for allowing us to see you perform just a few feet from you. It makes us better appreciate that organists are probably the busiest musicians in the world. Your performance is impressive and spiritually moving.

Arranger Scott performs this also. I like both versions, and I'd love the piece even if played by a bad marching band! What a divine racket! Different passages in each version are differently revelatory. Very small differences, microseconds really, can have such a difference, esp as it moves from section to section. I love the photo of the composer at the organ at St. Denis in Paris. I think the old guy would be pleased with all.

Fantastic arrangement and performance
When Jonathon Scott first posted his video of this transcription of his I was truly blown away--and he played it from memory! His brother Tom always does a fantastic job producing the videos. I'm not sure who did the video work for this recording of Gert's but I would congratulate them for a job well done here as well. As for Gert, well, tremendous! The crispness of every note and the registrations were really remarkable.
I've known him since around 2012, when he was a boy. he grew up so greatly... !

Wonderful as usual. Our symphony here in SF is performing the Saint-Saens symphony later in the 2018-2019 season. Wish you were the soloist for that. Maybe someday you will come here.
